  1. cool that you posted the pic of the ski when it wasn't cooperating, it shows the real girth of that giant you look like you mean business, I wouldn't want to tick you off (Hahaha) nice fish
  2. never noticed the resemblance before, but now that you mention it, pretty funny
  3. I have a variety of sizes of SealLines, more money but better than the Can Tire stuff or BPS stuff, lots of unexpected uses for these too http://www.cascadedesigns.com/sealline keeps everything dry even after an unexpected swim
  4. this doesn't have any relevance to the debate, but some readers might find it interesting when I was young, we skated on thin ice quite a bit, the cool thing is that the ice gives you plenty of warning, first some cracking, then more cracking, then the toe of your blade goes through a couple times, etc it's not like you're going in on a break-away and suddenly disappear with a splash anyways, this was interesting, after-work read, everybody seems pretty fiesty
  5. with the boat and camping, I'd look at Ramsay Lk (near Biscotasing), good walleye, some pike other lakes to check out- Biscotasing, Horwood, the north end of Onaping, Windermere, Big Missinaibi I'm assuming you load up the boat, and head down the lake to find a camping spot for the ATV back lake stuff, you could set up base camp at Wakami PP near Chapleau and do exploration and day trips from there, lots of walleye/ pike lakes around Tayzak may chime in with some help about the area around Folyet
  6. Hi Jim do you go to Goodees at all? I've got a long lost bud that may be hiding out there welcome aboard
  7. it's a definite option, there's going to be the guys that chime in and say "noooo, you need at least a 600, don't be a woman!" for me, I don't have money to burn or an ego to pump up, I love my Bravo 250 longtrack sled and 250 Trail Blazer 4 wheeler
  8. I took a decent ride on my bro-inlaws kid's Grizzly 125, I came away with the impression that "wow, this little thing is all you really need", great in the tight bush trails, light weight to lift when necessary, simple to maintain and fix if necessary if the snow is deep or there's slush on the ice, you're buggered, if not, sure it would tow a small hut what make/ model are you looking at?
  9. well, actually, you didn't share sounds good, gonna try it
  10. damn, I was in the States a couple weeks ago, I was shopping for a big, cheap, bottle of rye to bring back home they had a bottle called "Canadian Hunter", it had a bearded guy on a dog sled, rifle slung over his shoulder with a grimace on his face, hilarious I'm so cheap I didn't spend the extra $3 to get it, now I wish I did, it would have been a funny picture to post in this thread, next trip it's mine, when it's empty it's going on the shelf at the cottage
  11. yeah, I took a look at the long term forecast too Nick, this weekend will be dicey (but I'm definitely tempted), the following weekend looks promising, nice slabs in your picture
  12. In the video, the camp keeps accurate stats of fish/ rod/ week, when Mike does get there, I bet he's got a shot at setting the camp record looks like a magical river, hopefully all the nuts and bolts are snug on those Russian helicopters though
  13. I bought one too at 1/2 price, a good deal! I called about the optional tow bar, it was too expensive so I'll make my own. somebody should take Purenewf up on his offer
  14. whether we are hitting the water 24/7, or not getting out that much anymore, fishing is the "tie that binds" here, even if the conversation is about politics, or hockey or anything else agree?
  15. you seem to have a lot more disposable income than I do (Hahaha) like Art said, a 6 pack of Lucky Lager and you're good to go! Bill's bang on, my 1 piece float suit is 20+ years old and was worth every penny, warmth and safety
  16. I just got hungry from looking at post cooking pic, looks like a great day I guess the sun's staying pretty low up there, another couple weeks and the days start getting longer
  17. that's cool, I didn't know that any special way to rig them?
  18. great report, 15+ fish is steady action, I have an old pike spoon I love and they don't make anymore, it sucks when that happens
  19. looks like winter up there for sure, good advice about early ice conditions too, nice bonus splake
  20. yes, that's where I was, I guess you guys didn't make it out thanks Moosebunk, it was fun to see the tip-ups bouncing again thanks Shawn, if you ever want to take a break from sleddin', we should do some ice fishing I remember reading you were thinking of going out this weekend, I guess the conditions messed that up If I lived up where you guys do, I wouldn't bother with the brookies when you've got walleye like you guys have
  21. looks like a fun day guys, I bet it sure felt good to be back on the ice again
  22. this could be the first hard water report of the season for OFC? 1.15 kms as the crow flies, from my truck to the lake, I can't fly so I'm guessing I hiked double that distance, around bogs, hills and thick bush, I broke a sweat hiking, not good on a cold, windy day, I was happy to find 4 to 6 inches of good ice, here's a Trout Junkie tip up waiting for a bite It was quiet for the first hour, then the bite turned on, 4 to 8 feet of water was where the action was I tried to use the timer on my camera to photo some of the bigger specimens there was some good battles bringing in these feisty brookies on a hand line A nice afternoon, worth the effort
  23. how did it go today Manitoubass? you can do it, get through this weekend and the worst is over, feel free to be grumpy and lean on your family and friends
  24. very nice pic Shawn, winter's here!
  25. Anybody in cottage country, are the smaller, shallower lakes getting there? I'm guessing there's a chance I could be ice fishing this weekend on the smaller, stocked lakes. If there's no snow in the bush, that makes for easy bushwacking too. thanks
