  1. yeah, I hear ya, but I go fishing to fish, be outside, relax, not to be a 1 man army, or get into fist fights on the Coboconk dam point taken though,
  2. I've noticed an influx of Russian fisherman too, I dropped down into the Kawartha's for some evening dam fishing for walleye a few times, I saw walleye in the slot go into the trunk of the car, a small muskie go into the trunk of a car, I even nearly lost my rod when the guy that had crept up beside me, crossed my line, thought he had a bite, and then set the hook with a herculean yank
  3. that's the launch at Deep Bay I was thinking of using cached boats and caching 1 or 2 this winter via snowmobile
  4. the only boat I remember seeing, was a large aluminum fishing boat (I didn't catch the make), it caught my attention because of the cool camo pattern paint job, you guys? did u see us buzzing around? how did you do (fish)?
  5. that's one report I'm really looking forward to I didn't get away, things just didn't want to work out, oh well, still lots to do in Haliburton I did go to the French for Labour Day weekend, but there wasn't enough fish to justify a report,
  6. he doesn't own the plane, he joined a small club that has 2 planes (1 on wheels, 1 on floats), the planes can be signed out and the rates are reasonable
  7. My buddy Cam and cottage neighbor, recently got his pilot's license, and float rating. He showed up at the cottage with a Cessna 172, in Deep Bay (Gull Lake, Haliburton), and took me up for a cruise Although being a new pilot, he seemed competent and confident, and I didn't feel nervous here's looking into Deep Bay looking south on Gull Lk, towards Moores Falls the landfill on Deep Bay Road we also checked out some lakes we don't want to mention I have a feeling we might hit a few back lake bass next season
  8. looks like you're really cashing in the Air Miles this season, I think you're sleeping soundly in God's country right now too looks like a great family trip
  9. What section of the French are you staying at? The walleye can be tough. I was up there for the Labour Day weekend, I fished for other species too, but caught zero walleye, same with the other boat you read quite a few reports on here from the French and they state the walleye were tough night fishing can increase your chances, check deep water in the day too
  10. ok, I don't have any experience with ATV plowing, so the other guys would be a better resource my ATV is for getting me into the bush, I still like Yamaha as a brand, I have 3 outboards, 2 sleds, a scooter and a guitar (Hahaha), all Yami
  11. yamaha for sure, I don't know what you use your ATV for but, if I could justify buying a new machine, the Kodiak 450 would be the one, the bigger/ heavier machines aren't as good in the bush trails
  12. for what it's worth, a shade tree marine mechanic near my cottage isn't very fond of the Etecs in general, not with respect to trolling
  13. I like it when I'm at the cottage or in the bush and don't get any news/ internet/ phone calls but that's just me
  14. the report came across as a failure but it wasn't, we had a blast and the last fish pic is over 4 lbs, the bite seemed off but we still had decent fishing and 2 over 3 lbs the GPS cord is "if you've got a float plane, PM me" Hahaha I can tell you've done stuff like that, good advice for sure no, never heard of McLaren's, feel free to PM me the location though, it sounds interesting yep, still in operation, check your PMs, but if you're interested, I could give you some thoughts about that
  15. awesome report, well put together, that 25'er was a giant those guys were up there when I was there (Glen, Cliff, Matt), great guys
  16. looks like a great day
  17. very cool, I bet you're looking forward to another tourney now after the thrill of that one
  18. sounds like a cool place to spend some time, you're lucky I'm definitely not pumped at all about my current job (Hahaha)
  19. Me and my wife set out, with a canoe and camping gear, with hopes of getting to "The Secret Lake" The plan was to get close, set up a base camp, leaving most of our heavy camping gear behind, then make the final push to "The Secret Lake" Base Camp We didn't make it, our energy was zapped from the trip in, when we set out for the "Secret Lake", the sight of the first giant log jam made us turn back. The trip in wiped us out, there was too much of this and too many of these too much of this and too many blow downs from the July 19th storm like this We still had a good trip, caught some fish and enjoyed it all. We borrowed a couple lawn chairs from this vacant fly-in camp near our base camp. We returned them the next day Some rewards for our efforts All fish released I guess the "Secret Lake" will remain a secret, at least for now.
  20. I thought if I was going through the effort of digging up some old pictures of Quantz Lake, I'd post them here in case anyone else was interested the anticipation and planning of a trip is half the fun, I can tell he's already excited we had to fly right through a rain cloud, the only cloud in the sky, but it was right over Quantz Mr Simon, get ready for lots of this cabin/ camp pics here's an odd pic I came across, I went swimming and must have picked up a leech, Hahaha
  21. yellow boat's right! pretty cool little beasts, they're not shy either, you can get up close no problem
  22. it's only the 2nd time I've seen one, I googled it and figured it out, the little guy is about the size of a toonie, that's Bee Balm if your familiar with the plant, the pictures aren't the best any guesses?
  23. It was 2 or 3 years ago, we were considering going to the Chutes outpost for a week. The website is outdated, but the phone number worked and the outfitter is still doing business. You fly into the Pines outpost, load your boats, and travel down to the Chutes Unless repeat clientele are keeping things going, this guy could use a new website. I'm interested in this camp too, it's hard to dig up any information or reports on it.
