its getting close to max rating so expect very poor performance and gas mileage. If your towing on flat roads it would manage but throw in lots of hills and I'd say look at a lighter boat or another vehicle.

I tried 30lb 5yrs ago and it stayed on my reel 1 day, broke off like nothing even with my drag backed off.

Interesting opinion/factoid about Mercs vs Yammies
hirk replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
Moxie in north american merc out sells yammie 10-1 so obviously merc would have a greater number of repair occurences but if you looked at repairs per 1000 units sold i think you would see yammie is not less prone to failure nor a "better" engine. They only possible truth to the yammie sells better would be if he was only comparing verado to the sho 4 stroke. -

What yr is the engine, the vro was improved in 1991? I think and is very reliable, pre 1991 had issues. There is whats called a 3 wire and a 4 wire vro, you want the 4 its the newer version. Nothing wrong with premixing just get a measuring bottle, its the way to go if your oil injection is prone to failure. I mix now and did on my last engine but those are 2.5 litre merc v6's ,not as reliable as newer vro's

you better make sure its the correct grade stainless like Art said, you have single cable steering, if the bolt sheers while running people could die, give that some thought before you settle for what fits
-
shouldnt need a fly wheel unless you broke teeth and the starter is a do it yourself bolt on, look for a dealer that will sell under msrp or buy a used one.

You think Future shop would just give you a new tv etc.? Retailers don't make the product, set warranty policy or determine whether a claim will or will not be honored, thats why you have to return most anything to the manufacturer. You realize that if a retailer exchanged something and the manufacturer denied the claim that the retailer has then paid for a product and has neither money or a saleable item to show for it? ergo the reason its common to have to deal with whoever provided the warranty. -
Take your own advice frodo and think big picture, its a hobby that requires gas, no more no less just like many other hobbies use energy resources. The only thing I consider rediculous is your comment. This story reeks of NIMBY dribble plain and simple. EVEN IF some or all of the mortality was related to the event the other 30,000 tri lakes bass will insure the population recovers from the loss of 10,20,30 fish if in fact it was even that many. A few "sport license" fisherman will put alot bigger dent in the number:)

How do you think you'd do without your electronics?
hirk replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
depends how and where you fish but myself i have a 520c at the wheel i almost never turn on and a bow unit i use but could do without and would not really hurt any. -
whats on it for an engine? your call but glass bass boats under 18'fish small, for $16,000 id be looking at a 19-20'r, depending on where you fish highend electronics maybe over rated as far as usefullness.

im surprised because i fished the same water on the other side of the dam 6-10 fow and out of 40ish 1-2 lb largies never saw a single egg???????? the small fish do generally spawn last though, a survival of the fittest mechanisim

look at the 24xhd interstate marine cranking. if you have a dfi you need the 1000ca's for it alone due to the compressor.

looks like Chris is going, bobodo i will keep you in mind if another opportunity comes up. shawn i was still learning to drive when we fished, i ended up sqeezing 92mph out of it but I sold it and have a gambler now, I miss it -
the rod buckles are the best system, they always keep tension on the rods. you can install them flat in the floor or cut into the gunnel, i have done both and liked the floor mount the best but either way is good.

Another vote for these, I have the hikers and have fished in down pours and stepped in the lake and still bone dry. I always just wore flops but its nice to be dry when its a cold rain.

I have not used every mono out there but I think stren magnathin is still after all these years and new mono lines the best for combining limpness, diameter, stretch and abrasion resistance all rolled into one.

it would carry the bow better and improve the porpoise by changing the fulcrum point but if you boat is still under warranty it would void it, doesnt mean it cant handle the torque but tin boat manufactures all have the same verbage about voiding warranty.
