Rick - you think its appropriate that because some guy gets "stupid drunk" somewhere and kills himself i can't have 2 beers in my canoe when i go for a an afternoon paddle and hike? I would much prefer a little flavour of self reliance in our laws. Why should we govern society down to the lowest common denominator? Govern and restrict the "majority" of us as though we are the few dumb and really reckless people in the minority? That is one aspect i like about the US. Hurt someone, you are incredibly liable, but you're not governed like a daycare facility. One day we'll all have to wear safety helmets to walk down the sidewalk.

I wish the laws here were based on a foundation of self-reliance. If i'm doing somethign that puts others at risk, then by all means i should be restricted from doing that. I don't need laws that keep me from doing somethign to myself. If i'm having a beer in a canoe, i don't see who i am harming.

Just looked up the Linday. Wow - what a blatant ripoff of the chubby darter. Lindy should be ashamed. I guess that's the fishing lure business though, huh? btw - salmo ontario is a good site. i bought from them last year. Came in the mail in a few days

Pretty sure they weren't keeping it in a cage or anything. It wasn't "kept" as a pet....

Pretty hard to donate a family pet to the soup kitchen.

Ron, You only need to know a few things.... - if the TV is on a main floor (or anywhere it'll get sunlight) and you plan on watching when the sun is up, you'll ABSOLUTELY need an LCD or LED. Plasma has WAY too much reflection and glare for anything other than a closed room or basement. You'll find in some tv stores that the plasmas are always in a back corner where there's little light. - if in a basement, you will be fine with either. Plasma has an arguably better picture, but it also gets hot. LCD isn't quite as nice for high speed stuff (like sports), but the delta between the two is closing fast. Plasma is pretty much on its way out. - I don't know plasma but if you get an LCD samsung and LG are pretty good value buys (i just got a 50 inch LG a month ago). I could not see a difference in the picture btwn these and the more expensive Sony...maybe someone can, but not me. - if you get LCD, an important spec that is often under-valued is refresh rate....the speed by which your screen "refreshes". Whne the rate is slow, faster moving objects look blurry (they're moving faster than the picture is refreshing). I forget the different levels (something like 60 megahertz/second, 120, or 240). The highest level likely doesn't matter unless you watch nascar or LOTS of sports. Get the middle (this is what i did). Do NOT get the lowest one. - when you do buy, do NOT let them sell you on their expensive cables (usually called monster cables)....its Bull. The lowest quality HDMI or component cables will generate just as good a picture. - same goes with set-up or installation service....they will try to sell you a service to come and "fine tune" your tv, and will likely show you a tv that has been "tuned" to see the difference. Its Bull. You can tune yourself with your eyes, and or look up generally preferred settings for each model online.

I have never seen one but would bet $ that they exist here. Way too many sightings and signs of them. I doubt they have a measurable impact on the deer population though. Too few of them (by nature) and there are lots of deer anyway. Coyotes and wolves may be cutting into that, but still....

Muskies. Due to family stuff i've been on the water only 4-5 wknds a year the past couple of years....and have probably not cast anything but a musky lure. So i guess you could say i'm doing it now. btw - have caught only 1 musky (both nice ones) each year. Normally i catch 50-100 SMB a year as well (no idea how many really, but a lot)....but i wouldn't trade them for muskies.

Its pretty ridiculous if that is a designated spot to be picked up by that service and they were just waiting for it. Isn't the point of police/law to protect us and not to govern us? I assume the police handing out those tickets don't enjoy doign so....they're probably just like us and think its just as ridiculous. I'm sure they'd prefer to be doing something else more substantial

both a seagull and a snapping turtle (twice, actually).

btw - congrats on the baby boy!!!!

You got those in one season?

didn't you know? Its a global conspiracy by the Illuminati to trick us all into not buying gas so that we make the politicians who invested in alternative energy richer......
-
The news is pretty pathetic, huh? I actually kind of respect how he has handled it. Really don't respect how the police have handled it. If they want him to cooperate, it might help if they didn't take interviews about tiger on his front lawn. I would understand it if this were something we are all entitled to know....but tiger's marital or driving troubles (sans alcohol) are none of our business.

wouldn't it be great if whoever manages that canal (the gov't, i assume) could be held liable for damages if the carp do get through? The lawsuit would be huge. That liability might ensure they manage it a little more diligently.

Just need to spray some wolf urine on yourself before you go for walks, Rick :-) These guys (following link) market the stuff as a way to keep coyotes away. Not kidding! http://www.predatorpee.com/Merchant2/merch...ategory_Code=WU

I don't knwow what the timing is, but once they get schooled up in pods for the winter it might do them some good to leave them be. There's a reason we don't ice fish for them in the winter. Or, at least don't keep them in livewells for pics later (or if you do, don't move them to another location....they are schooled up for a reason).

theyre fun but not nearly tough enough to compete against the better teams.

The worse damage is to their gill filaments, which if exposed to extreme cold dry air for any amount of time can become damaged. The best advice - bring a good pair of hook cutters with you. I started using them for musky fishing, and it is remarkable how much easier (adn faster) it is to release fish. I now use them on almsot everything i catch that is difficult to unhook.
-
I would love to get out -- haven't been once this fall. No boat (within a 4 hr drive, anyway) but if timing works and someone has a seat open count me in.
-
Be sure to let us know how it works out. I'm going to buy a longer bucktail/spinnerbait rod for next year and the price point on these look pretty good. I have a few of their lures and - while knockoffs - are built really well.
-
Worrying about what people who object *might do* is going to ruin your enjoyment of going fishing in the first place. Just be respectful of people and worry about it IF someone does something. Otherwise, enjoy your fishing.

22 MONSTERS in 4 hours!! Niagara baby!! Are you ready for the best?

Pretty obvious they weren't targeting lakers, and nothing in that suggests they kept it. -
The people who have Expressvu...recommend it? Is it worth 10-15 more a month than cable?
