I looked into them this year for some info, but didn't go any further. I teach some welding for the Refrigeration Workers of Ontario union in Brampton and was curious about their program. We do SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW (or Stick, TIG, and MIG). Mr. B, do you know anyone who has completed their program?

Congrats Dan! Looks like you are doing a fine job of raising a future fishing buddy. well done!

It's hard to believe that such fine workmanship comes from such a simple looking fellow! LOL Just Kidding Chris, that is some real nice work. Some day, I would love to have at least one special Bass rod made by you.

Thanks Guys. I thought they might shed just like dogs and other animals, but could not find much on this. Wayne, this hair might be okay for jigs, but the stuff you buy is usually tail hair and a bit longer.
-
Is it normal for deer to shed a great deal of fur at this time of year? I see areas where it looks like they bed down, and there is all kinds of fur on the ground. Some of it is the course back hair, but some of it is real soft and white like the chest fur. Thanks

Al in all.......a great day! Man Cliff, what is it about you and ATV's and not wearing a helmet? They seem to just seek you out! LOL Anyone else and they would never see a cop, but you, on the ice, on the way to the bush.... just lucky I guess. At least he was decent about it.

Good to see you on this forum Graham! -
Tinman and Daplumma, Do you ever notice that filling car tires with nitrogen is all the rage these days? They charge large for it too! We have been doing it for years! When I was fresh out of high school, I worked at De Havilland Aircraft in Downsview. They always filled the aircraft tires with nitrogen because it does not expand or contract with a change in temperature. Well, there were some guys that were in the habit of also "borrowing" some good grease that they used on the wheel bearings, and taking it home to grease their car wheel bearings. Problem was, the grease for aircraft was only expected to do a good job for a very short time period while taking off or landing. Cars on the other hand, would travel hundreds of miles at a time. The grease would break down under those conditions and their vehicles were screwed. We always got a chuckle out of them! This thread reminded me of those days!

Thanks guys. After doing some more reading, I see that a PAL is a "Possession and Acquisition License". I'm thinking that this is all I need right now because I don't intend to hunt or go off my own property with it. Looks like $145.00 to $150.00 for the course and exam if I read it right? I guess you could always challenge the exam for $40.00, but having never owned a gun, the course is probably a good idea. I just keep thinking of the "Operators Card" for boating and what a joke that really is. Hopefully this course is actually worthwhile? Any comments from those who have taken it recently? Now, is a .22 the right thing to choose for small animals? What about long and short .22 bullets?

Hey Folks! I would like to purchase something like a .22 rifle for varmit control and also fun (target shooting). Can anyone tell me what the current steps are required to do this? I'm assuming I would need to take a course(s) to obtain a Firearms Acquisition Certificate? Is this still the rule? What is a PAL? I think I read about this somewhere. I have never owned a gun or had any of these permits. Also, where would i go to obtain these things? Is there a course online or anything? Thanks

Hmmmmm, I don't like any music or radio while fishing. I certainly don't want to hear someone else's either. Afterwords or on the drive to the lake though, I would go with "Jessica" by The Allman Brothers any day! Classic instrumental!

LOL, he says "no one else was too keen" to get inside the pen with the shark! Go figure!

Happy B'Day Young fella!

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but if anyone has some very large Goldfish they would like to get rid of, please let me know. I don't really want Koi, just plain ol' Comet pond fish. Thanks

My condolences Flexrod. Sorry for your loss.

Well, Since the show was at the new location, I had decided to give it another shot. My Wife and I met up with our Daughter and Son-in-Law to spend the afternoon there. In my opinion, there was a very small amount of show spread out over a very wide area to make it look bigger! We watched the dogs do their show for a bit and wandered through the booths. I bought a few packs of soft plastics and flipping jigs that I didn't really need, and my Wife bought some Croc shoes she had been looking for. It was a good afternoon with family, but I can think of other places to do this in the future. It is off my list and I won't be back. The $17.00 enty fee is just nuts when you look at the lack of entertainment value.

Ahhhhhh....there is nice homey feel to it! Thanks Guys!

Jack, We have never met, but yet I feel I do know you if even just a little through your posts and such. My good thoughts and well wishes come your way as well. Take care and kick the crap out of this thing! Regards, Brian

Cheaptackle, I'm thinking the exact thing! These fine examples of craftsmanship are way too cool to actually use and risk loosing to some 16" Northern snot rocket! LOL I would prefer to keep them safe to enjoy looking at such as Leechman and Roy have done! Nice looking work there everyone! The attention to detail is amazing! Great thread idea Art. -
I've seen most of those before, but there was a couple of new ones in there. I know his show is staged on stocked ponds, but Bill Dance is one man that I would really like to meet in person! He is a true legend of the television fishing shows and I think he would be a great person to talk and fish with.

I guess this proves it, you can teach an old dog new tricks

Congratulations Cliff! That is quite an accomplishment for someone of any age! You deserve to feel proud. -
Bob, I thought the whole reason for changing venues was because of Millers idiotic stance about no guns in a City of Toronto building? The convention center is not City owned.

Lucky you! Man, to be 90 and still getting out fishing is great.

Well, a day out ice fishing would have been nice, but as luck would have it, all three of our girls were home for the week-end! Our middle Daughter Amanda turned 23 this past week and this was our chance to celebrate her Birthday! The Son - in- laws were here, so we decided to clear off a section of the pond and made an area to skate. we cleared an area about 35' x 80' and found some decent ice. I drilled some test holes with the auger and found anywhere from 8 to 10 inches of solid ice relatively smooth ice under all that snow. We skated for a couple of hours Sunday night under the lights and I went searching around the shed and scrounged up some old hockey sticks this morning. we cleared last night's snowfall off the ice and had us some fun! Having the girls all home was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed the day off work! Hope you all had a great day as well. Even ol' Bubba got out for some fresh air! Sarah and Amanda taking a time out! The youngest (Jessica) was busy taking the pictures today!
