  1. Thanks Dan, Terry, and jr7roo! I have no idea where this coward is coming from, but I doubt he is from ONTARIO, and he certainly does not know me! Having a pond in your backyard does not mean you are financially well off. It means you are 50 years old and have been working (and will continue working for many years to come!)your butt off for 33 years to try and have a place that we can enjoy. The banks do have lots of money...all you have to do is ask for some! As for transferring fish... they were here when we moved here with the exception of a few Goldfish and some Largemouth fry that I purchased from a fish farm. Otherwise, the fish are reproducing and doing well. "Charlie" does not seem to mind the Alberta girls using TV, radio, message boards, newspapers and other methods, so my guess is he must be from there?
  2. I have a 1987 90 H.P. Merc which is basically the same engine. The 70,80, and 90 all use the same base, with just some minor modifications. When I first got it back in 2001, it did the same thing, but only on occasion. some times it picked right up and took off, other times it bogged.. In the end, it turned out to be the ignition module. This is a roughly 3" by 6" metal block filled with black epoxy, mounted to the engine in the vertical position, and has all the wires going out to the coils and such. It is very simple to replace yourself (which I did), but unfortunately, it costs about $470.00 from a Merc dealer. Thankfully, mine has worked great since. Hard to tell if this is your problem, but I believe a Merc Mechanic can diagnose this. good luck!
  3. I'm in TJ. Ya can always use more fishing tips! Thanks for the heads up!
  4. Geez, Now I am being called a "cheater" by someone because I asked for support from you folks. Unreal! Some of the contestants in the top 5 are using radio, television, message board forums (that they appear to have joined just for this contest!), bike forums, and a whole host of recruiters of votes! All I have done is ask for support from a group of you people on OFC that I have considered friends for many years. This truly is a family here and we always go the extra mile for each other. This is clearly within the rules. WFN tells you to use Facebook, Myspace, emails, etc. to promote yourself. We have to keep voting as much as we can! I'm afraid there is going to be a massive push towards the last couple of days to move people up and I could get bumped from the top 10. My wife and Daughters have put a lot into this for me and I would really like to have at least a chance at being looked at by the panel of judges. Thanks, Brian
  5. When we used to host the kids fishing derby in our trailer park, we used the total of your 3 longest fish, but in centimeters! Makes for bigger numbers! LOL The kids all fished in the same boat canal from shore docks and they caught on pretty quick that perch were better than sunfish or rockbass because of their lengths, and well...a PIKE, even a "snotrocket", would put the kid over the top! Usually 3 decent 8" perch would outdo the small pike unless they had a "kicker" fish to go with the pike. It was lot's of fun and we kept all fish in a Rubbermaid bin until the tourney was over. then all fish that were not too badly hooked, would get dumped back in. I'd like to give this Dollarama tourney a go once we finalize the date, location, and time.
  6. Wow, there sure is enough slop on that pond! plastic frogs might be the only way to get a bait through there. Have you ever tried casting a texas rigged white Zoom Super Fluke into slop like that? It comes through very slick and does not pick up many weeds. It is heavy enough that you most likely don't need any additional weight. It darts back and forth from side to side. Nice bass by the way!
  7. Thanks Guys! Yeah, my Youngest Daughter put the video photo album together and WFN helped modify the original entry. I would think that 1000 votes a day for the remaining week would be easy? We have a whole lot of members here! Thanks for doing what you can! Regards, Brian
  8. Thanks Leechman! Did you know that you can vote with up to 10 e-mails per IP address every 24 hours? Please use family, friends, and co-workers addresses. Thanks, Brian
  9. You are a good man Leechman! Thanks!
  10. Man, it don't get much closer than that! Very nice fish! Thanks for sharing!
  11. That's the spirit Dan....take it right to the wall! LOL This just means that you have to vote from work as well! Terry, thanks for the support! You all are doing a good job. It takes consistent voting to stay in position. The guy in third made a huge jump from 6th and is still going. If we let up, it would take no time to slip out of the top 10. Keep voting! Thanks
  12. LeXXington, I had a similar problem once where there is an inlet screen on the bottom of the tube that is in the tank. The screen was a cylinder type of set up with mesh all around and a closed off bottom. It somehow got pushed on too far. The open end of the hose was up against the blanked off bottom of the screen fitting and it allowed enough fuel at part throttle, but whenever I opened it up, it choked off and sputtered. Easy to pull of the fitting on the tank and take a look. My tank was a plastic one as well.
  13. I had a whole whack of them in the basement and gave them to someone on this board a couple of years back. He came and picked them up, but i can't remember who it was! If I find a few more around the house or up North,I will gladly give you first shot at them! They were a good read back then and those were the years I mainly kept.
  14. That Bass is great and extra special when he hot a topwater bait. By far, I love to fish topwater when I can. Congrats on the fish and the boat!
  15. Gerritt, Until our two plumbing maestros from Virginia get here, I'll take a shot at it! LOL. I'm sure they will have your answer (probably out doing what they do best right now!), but until then... I have seen this many times. There is an organism that gives off a "waste" that will give well water a sulfur smell. It is not an actual sulfur mineral that you smell. A little bleach will usually take care of killing it. If you have a water sediment filter in the basement, you can empty this and add the bleach there. It will travel through your entire system. Do this and allow it to sit in the pipes for as long as you can (several hours), and then run the water to clear everything out. The bacteria could be in your pipes. Water heaters are famous for this. You may have to repeat the process a couple of times, but it will work. I have also had the problem of one sink trap being bunged up with crud that smells horrible. Just pull the entire trap off and flush it out with hot soapy water and maybe a little bleach here too. The well water issue can crop up from time to time and you just have to deal with it. Some areas are worse than others. My Mother-in-Law has a particularly bad problem wit this in Flesherton. I don't know if it is harmful, but don't think so. The strange thing is that she even has a UV sterilizer in the main line and still has troubles. As a side note, if the sulfur smell comes back over and over again, you can try changing the sacrificial anode on the tank from zinc or magnesium to aluminum. Most of the time, it is most noticeable from the hot water tap. Good luck!
  16. Nice fish and report Joey! I hope from the photo of Paul, that they at least brought him a Timmies! LOL Does not look like the man likes to wait around!
  17. I saw this deal at the Barrie store last week as well! Looks really good, but unfortunately the payload capacity is too light for me! They also had a good deal on a pontoon float boat for about $239.00. Real nice for one person!
  18. Thanks Guys! I really appreciate your continued support! A couple of more weeks left in the contest. It closes July 31st. I know we can stay up there!
  19. Nice TJ.....but is Camp Jiggy really considered "tenting"??? LOL More like the palatial retreat! Anyhow, those northern women are a strong breed! I know, I married one too!
  20. Rickster, That is an amazing number of Bass there. If they were all caught on topwater baits, it must have been quite a hoot!
  21. Thanks for your support and enthusiasm everyone! Yes, all it takes is 10 votes from 100 people and we have 1000 votes per day! This would easily keep us up there. The other contestants have the support of various Calgary based fishing forums and message boards working for them for example. I think this board has the power to surpass all of them with the huge member base here. They allow any and all e-mail addresses to vote and about 8 to 10 from each IP address within about 24 hours. Please use family, friends, and co-workers e-mail addresses to vote with.
  22. Folks, We are sliding fast! Down to 6th from 4th and they are pouring in their votes for the other contestants in this next couple of weeks. The contest closes July 31st. We need all the votes we can get to stay in the top 10! There are over 200 people using this board right now, and literally thousands of members altogether. Please vote with as many e-mail addresses as you can and every day. Thanks http://www.wfn.tv/adopt/view.php?entry=360
