  1. Joey, You definitely have my curiosity up!! I'm thinking this can't be a Honeywell Thermostat because I have never heard of this happening with theirs. I have two thermostats that I run on batteries only. The travel trailer has a 12 volt DC system for the furnace so I use a digital programmable t'stat in there on batteries only to switch it on and off. The batteries easily last a year or so. My gas fireplace is a millivolt system and I use a second T'stat on that one that operates only on the batteries. In most cases, the batteries are only used to back-up the program in case of a power interruption, but for the most part, they operate off the 24 volts A.C. provided by your furnace. We operate thermostats at school all the time without batteries even installed in them. If yours failed to "heat" cycle, I guess that is better than not, but still strange. Do you know the make and model of the thermostat? It should be inside the cover.
  2. This will be my 5th winter with my Ariens 1128 (11 HP, 28" cut). It has the Tecumseh Snow King engine which is no longer made. This thing is a TANK! All steel construction and made in the USA! I would stay away from anything with plastic components in the chute area as well. I almost made the mistake of buying a "Murray" by MTD. There is no comparison between the two machines! Mind you, the price difference was $600, but worth every penny.
  3. Thanks for posting that Norm! Quite an example of unconditional love on both their parts. That is one very good natured Lab! Not a young dog either, but very patient. I don't think I would have let the boy climb on him like that, but hey, he does not seem to mind!
  4. For what it's worth, I like things exactly how they are here. I frequent another forum on an other subject and they have it all broken up into categories and topics. I don't like that part at all! I find I miss a lot when it is done that way.
  5. Geez Brian, My heart goes out to you both. I know exactly how tough this is on you. Give Betty a hug, time will make it a bit easier.
  6. WOW! Very happy for you and glad everything worked out well in the end. Now, can we see more pics of the boat and motor....and less of the carbs????? LOL
  7. That is certainly Awesome! I have seen some big cat tracks out back at our place, but never seen the actual animal that left them!
  8. All I can say is "SCUMBAGS"! Welcome to Toronto eh? I will definitely keep my eye out!
  9. I'll second the recommendation for Primrose! He is actually just west of Highway 10 and South of 89. It is located on the Blind Line. I bought some fish from him this year to stock our pond. He has Browns, Rainbows, and Brook trout. Beautiful ponds to fish!
  10. Consider it done Dave. Let's hope for the best!
  11. Beautiful pair right there! Awesome!
  12. Very sorry to read this Chris. I know all to well how tough this is on you. Its only been 9 months since we were in the same position. Take care and be well.
  13. Great report Dan! Thanks for sharing your week-end with us! Looks like a nice family....you are a very fortunate man!
  14. Bill, That's great! I saw your boat listing and it looked like a good deal! Congrats!
  15. Gord, My boat got wet once on July 16th! LOL. With the new little trailer, I can't see it getting wet all that often next year!I certainly can't tow both! 30 hours in 5 years? That hardly justifies it.
  16. Thanks Roy! I knew running this by you folks was a good idea! What the hell is wrong with these people anyways? Is the world that full of scammers? I guess I answered my own question! LOL
  17. Thanks Guys. I think something is wrong when a person is willing to pay without seeing! I certainly would never buy that way! Brian, did you finally end up selling yours? I know people were giving you the run around and not showing up. I want to post it on this site as well, but the process takes a bit longer to get pictures up. I will work on that later tonight. Good people here that can be trusted.
  18. Does anyone have any experience selling anything on a larger scale on Kijiji or Craigslist? I listed my boat for sale this week-end and have someone willing to purchase sight unseen using paypal. I smell something fishy here! How does paypal work? I do have an account for paying, but never used it to receive. Thanks
  19. Shorts and T shirts on Thanksgiving week-end! I bet it was just awesome out there!
  20. Great stuff! Looks like a fantastic time! It looks more like mid July than mid October.....gotta love this weather! Especially the late afternoon/evening dip. What woud the lake temperature be? Our pond is 60 degrees.
  21. My experience was pretty much as dannyboy explained it. I was not selected, but had to show up every day for the process. The part that bothered me was that we would have to wait out in the hall while the Lawyers haggled over each case to see if they could settle it without a trial. I thought they should have been able to do this process BEFORE we got there! The whole week went by with only a few jurors being required. The only pay I got was about $4.50 per day (not enough for lunch!) and it was boring as hell. Being retired, you might enjoy the whole thing though.
  22. Roy, Point well taken! I was on my "last" coffee of the day when I wrote that! LOL
  23. Looks like a nice boat and a good deal! Enjoy!
  24. Whatcha gonna do when yer clothes git dirty and the Wife wants her washin machine drum back? LOL We have a gas stove in the living room that has been on for a week or so. I have it on a thermostat with an automatic fan. This keeps the main room warm. We use a nice duvet on the bed and it is fairly cool in there for sleeping. The wood burning fireplace downstairs will get used when it gets colder and we spend more time down there. For the two of us, this works! I may consider the furnace if this weather keeps up!
  25. Sorry, But I have to disagree! The reasoning behind using Nitrogen in tires is directly linked to it's "inert" properties. While not purely inert, it is virtually so at the temperatures and pressures used in tires. The air we breath is considered to be 78% Nitrogen, 20.9% oxygen, and the remainder (approx. 1%)is other gases such as CO2, Argon, etc. Commercial Aircraft have always used Nitrogen in their tires so that the pressure at 40,000 feet would not be that much different from the pressure on the runway in Saudi Arabia. The "scam" part comes from the tire shops that have discovered it fashionable to sell it to people at inflated prices. Those of us with a "ready" access to it have been filling our tires, blowing out drains, and many other uses for decades! Another scam is when they try to sell you "Extra Dry" grade at the gas suppliers! They charge a premium price and guaranty the moisture content or lack there of. The responsibility is on the customer to prove it! In most cases, these cylinders are filled off the same header as all the rest. Without laboratory analysis, how can you tell?
