  1. The Internet effects everything now to, personally I buy almost everything online, even from the US after all the charges and shipping it's still cheaper and easier to find exactly what your looking for, it's even cheaper than all the big stores even when they have sales. You can see all the competition within minutes and go from there, it's pretty easy and convenient to do.
  2. LOL.. It is if they go by dog years, Rockets really 70. lol.
  3. Lews got a great picture there, on the majority of baits the weight is right behind the first hook/ usually the thickest part of the body that's why. Anyway if you are using plastic lures or don't want to cut your wood lures until you know for sure or just want a temporary change, you can get those stick on weights like Lew said or hang a bell weight sinker on the front hook split ring.
  4. The action of a lure is 99%, color/pattern really doesn't matter to a fish to much even if it looks good to your eye, but the water clarity will be the judge of the colors most days. I have made quite a few lures. From my experience a wider lure body will give you more wobble the skinny baits will be tighter, also the wider lips will give a wider wobble, skinny lips generally a tighter wobble, but I have found the best wobble to be when the body is wider than the lip and if the lips a lot wider than the body it will be tight most times. Try to find some wood baits if you can, nothing compares in my opinion, I pretty much don't use plastic anymore, the wood definitely has better action if you can find any. Weight placement also plays a roll in the action but it will be hard to tell when your buying a lure. Also jointed baits are good if your looking for more side to side action. Nothing written in stone here, the only for sure method in time on water testing the lures, but the percentage of the time this is true. Oh, and walleye and pike like both, tight and Wobble, another general rule, colder water early spring/late fall they like tight slow when it warms up go to big wobble faster running lures, once again nothing in stone, always mix it up if it's not working for you.
  5. Cool report Joey. Well you guys got one nice one, and got out in the boat, I'm jealous, May 1st has been in my dreams, can't wait.
  6. I love fenwick have at least 5 fenwicks I can think of, but I agree the Canadian series I bought was the worst ever ( got the 7' med casting rod). No kidding I broke it the first month while fighting a 3lbs small mouth snapped a third of the way down, they did replace it no questions asked. I got the heavy action on the replacement rod because the med felt more like a light action and it obviously wasn't tough enough. I guess being the Canadian series means Canadians want crap quality for a little cheaper. ya right I expected it to be better if anything but the graphite on them is real brittle. Maybe I just got a dud ? hope so.
  7. Is that why shes you ex ? haha. I don't really know what's in dill pickle juice, but after I ate a jar of pickles, I poked a couple holes with a fork into each hard boiled egg and marinated it in the dill pickle juice over night and they were the best I've ever had, I figured that's how they made them, lol. Works good, poke some holes and the juice will really get in there.
  8. Very nice man, sweet fish.
  9. Very nice. I here ya on the pic thing I can never make them look big like some guys, lol, but any smallie you have to hold with two hands is big. Roy I just noticed your post count is 6666, hope you don't run into any bad luck.
  10. They look awesome spiel. Do you make rods for any species ? musky, walleye rods ? and do you turn any wood handles or all cork ? Just for future reference. lol. I had a guy in MN make me a couple Loomis walleye rods with red cedar handles the wood really adds to the sensitivity and looks amazing too and it ended up weighing about 1 ounce more than the cork would have so the weight is no big deal. And he built them for cheaper than the retail versions ? don't know how he did that, but they are my favorite rods by far. Just wondering encase I need some more rods one day, I'd rather stay in Canada.
  11. Not sure about to much, but I know they have large interiors, my friend has one and I'm a fairly big guy and there was tones of room in the back almost like a Cadillac. lol.
  12. Afew good pics.
  13. Looks good Ron. I have thought of joining the organization for a few years but all the chapters are to far out of my area to make any meetings or events. I'm at Pointe au Baril, smack dab in the middle of the Moon river and the French river but the only chapter I think is the Hamilton one that fishes this area, and the Sudbury one fishes even further away so it's a no go for me. I guess I'll have to continue fishing this area by myself, lol, not complaining I rarely ever see any other muskie fisherman around. If you need a chapter in Pointe au Baril let me know, I could be the chairman.
  14. That's true I guess it would depend on the size of the water your fishing, but on smaller lakes when 80% of the boats are a handshake away from each other it's pretty funny. Sorta like the ice-fishing tournaments I've entered, everyone's in the same vicinity, all you need is basic fishing knowledge and from there it's all luck to who wins those things. I can see how they would still be fun, if they had some here on Georgian Bay I would probably enter. lol. Lot's of space to find your own spots. I think the hardest part of fishing is finding the fish, the rest is basically pretty simple after you learn the techniques to catch them, and catching the biggest fish of the day is all luck IMO.
  15. I don't fish bass tournaments, but my guess would be that some of the un-known pros are better than some of the famous guys as well ? I mean the famous guys started at the bottom like everyone else. And what I find funny about most of the tournaments I've seen or watched on TV etc... all the boats are in the same spot ? I mean if it someones first tourney you could just follow the crowd ? I'm sure some guys do that, there's a lot of luck involved to win a tournament, it's a toss up to who wins if you ask me. It's just my opinion but I think tournaments are more about who has the nicest boat and the most stickers. Please don't shoot the messenger. lol.
  16. Wind is what I pay attention to the most, when night fishing I like the brighter moon, storms coming in have accounted for some of my best days ever like 1-2 hours before a huge thunder storm.
  17. I would usally laugh at that one, but I have to listen to my brother in law tell that same joke every time he gets drunk. lol.
  18. Judging from the thick mustache and huge aviator glasses I would guess that's a picture of the cop. lol. standard police look.
  19. I depends on the size of your boat ? and where you fish ? some lakes or water bodies are a lot windier, if your going to get two, go with some smaller ones that way you can go a little faster or slow enough if you have them both out.
  20. Hey, who cares if you didn't get a physical picture, you still got to see the fish out of water and will never forget it. I didn't even have a camera until late last year and released 95 % of my fish without telling anybody the story, but I also just got my first computer 2 years ago, so now I have to start showing them off.lol. That's if I catch any.
  21. Well, that's what I do here on Georgian Bay but it could be different on other water bodies, but I never fish over 12' deep for the first month or so and every year catch my biggest spring Walleyes in-between 4 and 8 feet of water. Also if there's Islands close to the spawning grounds or large mud flats/beaches fish those tight to the edges to, I literally bounce my jigs off Islands and let if fall into the water and have got some nice ones like that hugging the shore, sometimes in spring I see them suntanning in 2 fow after they spawn.
  22. I guess a picture is worth more than a thousand words by the looks of it. Very nice report, sometimes dumb luck is better than any technique.
