  1. I couldn't believe that there were more accidents during cautions than green flag racing! Congratulations to Ron Fellows from Mississauga
  2. mmm...had them down in New Orleans, they were so good. They make a great po' boys too.
  3. Just thought I would vent my frustrations!! Had a few free hours last week so I thought I would get out on Nipissing and do some fishing. I was casting a small x-rap over some submerged rocks. It was a spot I hadn't tried before but I've driven by it a hundred times. No fish the first few minutes, then BANG. My rod just about fell out of my hands. The fish rocketed out of the water, then dove straight down. At this point my knees are shaking and I am trying to grab the net, while still fighting the fish. Anyways, the fish was right at the boat, I've got the net in the water....and the damn line breaks!!!! I know, fish stories, fish stories. My PB smallmouth is 6.6lbs, and this fish was very close to that size, man was I ticked.
  4. I fish mostly the eastern portion of the lake since I live in North Bay. Its a two hour boat ride over to the West Arm! There is still very good fishing to be had late in late summer. I'm not sure what the lodges are like in that area, but Lakair sure looks like a first class place. There are several very nice places in the south shore area as well, they might be worth a look.
  5. I have my humminbird mounted on the trolling motor. Works great, but be careful if you are hooking up to the same battery as the trolling motor. Sometimes you can get some electrical interfearance when the motor is on.
  6. To me it doesn't really make a lot of sense. I think if you are trolling you should be able to use as many rods as you can handle. I understand what Rich is saying but I'm sure we have all caught fish casting or still fishing that have been hooked deep as well. As long as you adhear to the limits I don't see it being a problem.
  7. Art, I'm curious to know what river that is. It looks really wide.
  8. Here hope this helps http://floridafisheries.com/rules.html
  9. Most bass fishing takes place in central Florida. However I'm sure there are still plenty of bass in the panhandle. Have you considered any saltwater fishing? I'll poke around a bit and see what I can find out.
  10. Looks fantastic Clive!!
  11. How far out does your map go? The Waltonian reef has been producing a good amount of fish at sun-up and sun-down. Like Garritt said, reefs, points, and flats with deeper water close by are a pretty good bet.
  12. Are you going in off Rabbit Lake Rd. If you are the road is pretty good right now, i was there Canada Day weekend. I would stop of at Gramps and ask how things are on the lake.
  13. I'm looking for a place to go with my girlfriend and our two young children, a few other families may tag along as well. I'd like somewhere with decent fishing, a nice beach, small playground. I live in North Bay, so I would like to go somewhere other than Lake Nipissing. Thanks Mike
  14. I would love to reply to this more in depth but I think the thread would get locked pretty quick. Lets just say that I'm not a very big fan of Bell. Does anyone know of any discount carries for phone and interet in the North Bay area?
  15. Did you have an idea of the general area you want to fish? The Lake Beauchene area has some great fishing oppertunities for rainbows and lakers, as well as trophy smallies. Make sure that you read all the Quebec regulations well as they can differ greatly from the Ontario rules.
  16. Does anyone know what time it starts??
  17. 1986 Chevy Camaro. Red, t-tops, 72' vette engine that I did up pretty good. I still have the car, but it hasn't seen the road in quite a while. I'll put up some pics later.
  18. The Manitou's and Goose Islands are both very productive areas. If you are fishing the Northshore, its better towards Sturgeon Falls. If you want to fish the North Bay area the Eastern shore is the best way to go, you can slow troll or drift (depending on the wind) the entire shore. Where did you fish last year?
  19. Still pretty good fishing up here in September, and it doesn't really cool down until it gets dark. I think I might have to bust out the tent and come over for a day. I havn't fished the west arm very much so you guys might have to give me a few pointers. Mike
  20. wow...second from the top when you put it in google. I have fished with quite a few tourney pro's both from the US and Canada. Every one of them has gone out their way to be helpful. I'm sure even Darrin is a nice guy, must have just been an off day. However that doesn't excuse the fact that he didn't secure his boat properly.
  21. wow....had no idea about this, I noticed that Churchill's is now serving local walleye on their menu and I wondered how that was possible, now I know. This is a terrible thing for Lake Nipissing!
  22. Just got back from Temagami area.....EVERYONE GOT EATEN ALIVE!!!! Except me, for some reason I don't get bit, its weird.
  23. Looks like everyone had a good time up at Lakair!! I was going to try and get over there but I was down in Toronto. I stopped in at Basspro on the way back up North and found out that X-raps are on sale, I think 25% off so I picked up a few. Anyways hope everyone is well and wasn't affected by the storms in the South over the weekend. Mike
  24. Trout Lake is a great lake for bass and the odd pike and musky. I caught and 6.6lbs smallie out of there a couple of years ago!! there is a boat launch right in the Birchhaven area off town. Lake Nosbonsing is also a great lake, you can launch in Bonfield or Astorville. It has pike, musky, walleye and bass. There are many lakes to the North and also some brookie streams to the East towards Quebec. If you want any more details on whats around send me a PM and I will help out as best I can. Mike
  25. Congratulations...was he born on the 18th, or the 19th. My son turned two yesterday!
