  1. I'm heading down to Woodbridge, we are having my sons second birthday party at my dads place on Saturday. No fishing for my this weekend.
  2. Wahoo are a hard fighting fish, I just love when they get all "lit up". To bad you didn't get to see the marlin, there are some big ones that swim in the mid Atlantic!!
  3. Do this all the time on Nipissing, either drifting or slow trolling. Worms, leeches, grubs..whatever the fish want!
  4. I've been looking at getting one of those for a couple of years now, what year is that one?
  5. The storm rolled through on Friday morning pretty early, wasn't too bad though. My living room window faces right towards Lake Nipissing so you can see the storms coming, its kinda cool.
  6. great game....I wanted to name both my sons Arjen, after Arjen Robben. The girlfriend is Dutch, but didn't want her son named after a soccer player!!
  7. I have an 2006 D-star, takes everything that Nipissing can dish out! The interior is kinda cheap though. Does 32mph with full gas and two people with a 50 merc.
  8. I think it was a big 'eye that broke the line, they were in there pretty thick. The slick is pollen.
  9. Water temps are down as we have had a lot of ran the last few days, but that didn't slow the fishing at all. We mainly fished a sand point on the eastern shoreline. When we arrived there was only one other boat there and it didn't look like they were catching anything, we said we would give it a few minutes then go try elsewhere. Well we didn't have to wait long before the first fish. Right after he got his line back in the water he got another hit, and pulled up another nice walleye. He was using a white jig head and worm. finally I got into the action with this fish. Just after releasing this fish I noticed some minnows being chaced about 20ft from the boat so I told my friend to cast over towards them, as soon as the jig hit the water it was fish on. The fish was pulling hard and taking line, eventualy the line broke. We caught about a dozen fish all in the slot size, and missed about a dozen more. It was pretty cool to see the walleye chasing around the baitfish. All fish were caght with a jig and worm or a chartrouse grub in 6-8fow.
  10. Just curious to see if anyone has a favourite team. I cheer for Germany, looks like they may do pretty well this year!
  11. Out on Lake Nipissing for some smallies
  12. Went out on Nip around noon today, very humid but there was a little breeze to keep things cool. Shad flys are starting to come out. Saw some fish rising to the surface to eat the flys, I'm guessing they were bass. Anyways my target was walleye. Marked a few fish suspened just off the bottom in 13-16fow. Surface temps have started to warm up, it was about 70 across the east end of the lake including Callander Bay. Didn't catch anything, but had a few hits. Today was more of a fact finding mission than anything, so I'm hoping to get out and do some serious fishing later this weekend. Mike
  13. Really cool...thanks for posting
  14. what bay is the cottage in, our cottage is in the same area(Greening Bay). Its too bad you couldn't stick around a couple more days, its beautiful here now!
  15. Callander Bay was 55 on the surface on Monday, but I suspect it has droped a bit over the last couple of days. However it should warm up by the weekend.
  16. Fishing is still pretty slow up here. We have a big cold front coming through right now(it was below zero last night). Try Gautier's Bay, was there yesterday and had some luck. Slow trolling memorial drive is also a good bet.
  17. Great game...I was sorry to see Chelsea loose though. I'm a huge soccer fan and am looking forward to Euro 2008.
  18. If I were heading to Cairn's trout would be the last thing on my mind, the marlin fishing out of there is some of the best in the world. Lake Jindabyne is probably your best bet. It has rainbows, browns, brookies and atlantic salmon. There are also quite a few tribs in the area as well, so you don't have to fish the main lake. It's just south of Canberra, maybe 4-5 hours south west of Sydney. There is also some really good baramundi fishing up in Queensland as well. As far as New Zealand goes I have no idea.
  19. Many people fish around the Oxetounge River near Dwight. When I was there last month we caught fish on a shoal over near Dorset, look for a small creek mouth and try around there. I havn't really fished the lake much. Try using the search feature, it might help more than I can.
  20. I was out on Saturday morning. The weather was terrible and I didn't see anyone else catching fish. I caught three walleye and had a pike follow all in Callander Bay. Not the greatest day, but I couldn't wait to get out on the water.
  21. May flies aren't hatching here yet
  22. I was talking to Sam yesterday...he's definetly not dead. I think I will give im a try, seems like he knows what he is talking about.
