  1. Watching it now, Canadian Music is stronger then ever. This country has produced (and still is) some great artists. Agree? Disagree?
  2. True, but pointless. We are in Ontario, therefore they are not required. The NBC holds a lot of requirements to which "certain" provences exclude. As for "quality builder", I couldnt agree more, but the reality is, the dollars speak volumes compared to what should actually be done. The cost to the builder is rediculously high, even for large volume builders, so I could only imagine what it is to a smaller builder. Every builder usually offers this but it usually exceeds 3-4k selling due to mark-ups and such. Sorry, had to chime in, not arguing, just wanted to clear that up from my end. Now lets get back on track and see if we can solve this issue.
  3. Mike/Dax/Ron, whoever wants to chime in, do any of you know when everyone will be on/speaking? Is there a timetable that is accessible? I'll make the trip in from Ottawa for it, as I have been to the last 3, but I would like to know if i need to set the entire day aside or just 2 hours or so. Tanks,
  4. John made some good points. Have you checked your return air ducts? New houses are not sealed as tight as everyone might think. Some are, yes, but most are not. And when you hear of builders building such a tight house, in theory they are, but if you ever have a chance to go see a new home being built look at some of these area's. Houses are not nearly as tight because of: Header wrap not sealed around corners Header wrap ripped/torn around anchor bolts Top of foundation wall poured poorly, sill gasket not providing air penetration reduction(only serving as moister barrier between concrete and wood)some foundation walls are out 1" over 30 feet. Inside chases/bulkheads, vapour barrier not sealed around perimeter with strapping, same situation with walkout or lookout basements Garage ceilings (entire ceiling), batt, spray foam, vb, cold zones (beams exposed to cold air) These are just some of the continuously problematic areas with all builders. In order for your house to be considered tight, the allowable infiltration is about just under the size of a basketball. This means every air penetration your house is allowed, if you added them all together in area, they all add up to under the size of a basketball. And thats a tight house. Not all builders are achieving this. Your humidity levels are most likely due to lack of air movement as a few have said before, but look a little closer at your furnace and your returns. Most builders are not going to help you, and the warranty guys they bring in usually dont know much about this stuff. As you have done already, start checking off stuff. Its not your doors/windows, the fans are good to run, but not for extended periods of time, you dont have a humidfier, not many live plants. Now focus on the areas that provide moisture, your furnace or an abundance of water. Your foundation doesnt spit as much vapor into your house as you may think. It does, but not enough to have you worry 5 years in. Check your vapor barrier. This could be one of your main issues. As well as Kitchen Hood Fan or Dryer duct work (least probable) As someone said before, HRV's/Air exchangers are good investments, but new homes do not require them. Certain scenarios in the 2012 code have HRV's required under the new insulation guidelines. But are not currently required. Sorry I went off on a few tangents here, but there are many things that will be looked at and probably only 1 or 2 that need to be if you really narrow it down. Hopefully this provides some insight, I know I was all over the place. PM me if you want, I work for one of those "builders", one of the larger ones.
  5. I wouldnt get too excited, anyone that has been in the SAIL in the Trainyards in Ottawa will know, its not that special. Although the competition would help with BPS, BPS's selection destroys Sail's selection. Just my opinion though.
  6. Petrie is great if you are in the East end of the city, if he lives in the west, there are thousands of lakes north of Carleton Place/Perth or West into the Frontenac region. I live in Perth and work in the city, it takes me 45-55 to get to Kanata (right by the Scotia Bank Place) its another 45 mins to Petrie from there... Good Luck, see if MuskyMatt can chime in, or ya, go to Fish-hawk. Those guys should be able to help out
  7. Amazing song...the Built to Spill Live version is also amazing!!!!
  8. So how many are making the trip? I am fortunate enough that some people I work with are VERY generous and I just received tickets for the 26th against Russia, 31st against the Swedes, Quarters, both Semi's, Bronze and Gold Medal Games. Anyone else heading over? GO CANADA GO!!!!

Instead of bringing up the same excuses about the past....Just like if either of those teams start playing well and get on a roll, any respectable Leaf's fan should show the same courtesy IMO.
  10. Can someone tell me where Ottawa is on this list? Maybe MuskyMatt can chime in?

  12. No, across from Sturgeon Bay PP. It used to be Red and White when Marg Noble owned it, then my parents bought it and it went to beige and brown. Agreed, Mark is a great guy and knows the water as good as anyone. His little brother Chad (not little but younger than mark) knows the water incredibly well. Probably knows every rock up there from San Souci to Bing Inlet. Pleasant cove is in a pretty good spot. Centrally located. I would stay away from the River mid summer though, as it becomes tough usually until the temps cool down. Good for pike though. If you want bass stay in Shawanaga in the North End of the bay, so many shoals to fish, anywhere there is a marker, throw something in. Pike are the easiest to come by. Go back towards Sturgeon bay and fish by Skunk Isle and Bonnie. Hit up the back side of Kenilworth Isle. Get a map you will see where I am talking. Good luck. its an over fished area now which is too bad but its one of the most beautiful places to go IMO.
  13. yes, he is talking about the shoals and table rock. but unless you know the area, you are not going to know its called table rock and you are not going to make it there without at least drifting into a rock. when you come out past the lighthouse it looks close and easy but you will soon find out its not as easy as it looks. you CAN'T rely on GPS in the shoals, only eyes, and even they will fail you out there. if you want that experience, head out through Hemlock which is connected to the hole in the wall (not the parry sound one). The channels back into Frenches Bay are much more clearly marked and a lot safer to navigate. Ask someone in town (probably at Evoy's or Payne's) where Chicken channel or you-go-i-go is and head up there. They are all amazing to places to go and with a map and some common sense you can get to them. prepare for an entire day exploring and hitting spots. As for fishing, good luck on musky, your best shot is pick and small mouth and largemouth in the back bays in the eve and early morn. Pickeral are not the easiest fish to come by in July up there. actually any time of year for that matter. the area has been so heavily fished in the past 10 years and so many people have kept everything they caught, it has really hurt it. i have fished the area for the first 21 years of my life all summer every summer and guided it when i was 15. its a challenge. hey and if anyone has ever stayed at Camp Georgian before it was bought by the park, hit me up. My parents used to own it. Maybe there are some people on here from the past.
  14. ^^^^ what that guy said....even go another model up. you wont regret it 10 years down the road
  15. Just like Bushart, over here in Ottawa I felt it pretty good. Was on a second floor of a house/office and it felt like the building was gonna come down. Pretty scary yet really neat. Wayne, I hope there is not too much damage at your place.Hope all is well around you.
  16. i throw double 13's with my curado 300 and dont have any problems. sure the short handels dont make for easy burning but it will do the trick if you can handle it. Cant go wrong with a Calcutta either way. and if not get an Abu, throw a power handle and off you go. Abu's and calcutta's are very easy to clean, take apart and see whats wrong too.
  17. there are topraiders and super top raiders. try both. depends on the time of year, water you are fishing, time of day, weather... there is no easy out. go out and spend your money. if you are getting into musky fishing you are not going to be saving your $$$. so go out and buy one of each and try them. if you cant afford it, you wont have the right equipment and should wait until you have the proper tools to target them. sorry if i sound like an ass, just stating the facts. Welcome to an entirely new world of fishing for hours and hours and hours without any results. dont get discouraged.
  18. Dont use live bait for musky. You are too new and will most likely end up killing the fish with your hookset. Stick to lures.
  19. This, you are incorrect with. I am from Stoney Creek and am temporarily permanently stuck in Ottawa. There are just as many if not more fishing opportunities in Ottawa than here in the GTA (currently in SC). There are literally thousands of lakes surrounding the region plus the big shows, both Rivers. I guess the bright side is I get to go to 30+ Sens games and boo them on, they are a disgrace to watch and I am in a 200 Level Box for most of those games. hahahha. Oh the irony. Go Leafs Go!!!
  20. I just wasted too much of my life. I also think Bill M was really referring to NSA = No Strings Attached. You sir are the part of the reason society is going to (explicit word) /post /rant /life (after reading this) George, is that you? I think this was taken from somewhere and "Find and Replace was used". No one has this much time on their hands...
