  1. I have some great icefishing tips P.M. me

  2. If you are strictly going for perch like you mentioned, then a stiff rod would not serve you any good. A stiff rod will give you the backbone to set the hook on a fish with a bony mouth such as a pike, that is heavy and you can pull it in without breaking your rod. For perch, all you need is an ultralite, that gives you the sensitivity you need to feel every nibble. A perch has a very thin, paper like mouth. An ultralite is more than capable of getting a good hook set. However, if you want a more all around rod, then a medium light would be better, or a medium if you plan on going for pike or walleye or anything along that line.
  3. I would check out the info on ice fishing rods at www.iceforfishing.com. There is a lot of info there on the type of rods that will suit your needs. I would avoid HT rods. They seem to dominate the ice fishing market but I find them cheap and poorly made.
  4. Nice pic! Good to see that the conditions are good enough out there to be ice fishing. I have heard a lot of mixed info about the ice thickness. Is the entire bay frozen or just out of gilford?
  5. Hey fellas, heading out to Rice Lake on tuesday for a couple days. I've never been there before so I was wondering if anyone had some useful information to pass on. Hoping to go for muskie and walleye but will probably fish for bass for a day as well when the muskie and walleye fishing is going slow. Any specific areas or lure combinations that you recommend for this lake? I was thinking orange and black bucktails for muskie as that seems to work well in the rest of the kawarthas. No idea about location though!...or any other lures. Thanks
  6. Hey everyone, I am going to Scugog on saturday to go muskie fishing for the first time. Can anyone suggest good spots where they will be located as well as good lures to use there? Any suggestions are helpful! Thanks
  7. Hey fellas, I have heard the steelhead fishing has been tough last week out on Niagara but was planning on going out tomorrow. Im just looking or someone who has something positive to say to be honest haha. Anyone been out recently and had some good luck? I have never been to the niagara but was planning on going to the Whirpool and casting some spoons out. Anyone know how the fishing has been and have any other tips? Thanks guys!!
  8. Hey everyone, Just got into ice fishing this year and was planning on going to bay of quinte for walleye. I was planning on going this sunday but heard that the walleye fishing is very slow at this time and picks up later. Any validity to this? Also, where are they located at different periods of the hardwater season? Thanks a lot guys! Any other information on lake trout location would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks again
  9. Sounds like we have the next JK Rowling.. gotta love harry potter!
  10. Unbelievable! I gotta get out there and try my luck. I've never been and would have to fish from shore, I dont know how that compares but hopefully it will do! Great job.
  11. The best advice I can give you (and you have already been given) at this point is to just move around. Try a spot for 20 mninutes and move. I just have a black and white eagle fishfinder and I just use it for the depth essentially. But you can figure that out easily just using your line. Best of luck
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys. Im looking to take the car out on Cooks Bay. Too soon for that you think?
  13. Hey everyone, Anyone know of the muskie fishing on Lake Nipissing? Are there a lot of quality muskie there? Thanks
  14. Hey everyone, Anyone been out ice fishing on Simcoe recently? Post some pictures if you have! Is the ice completely frozen yet? I am new to ice fishing and I am wondering if it is safe to get out there.
