  1. Alright, I am a newbie to this board, so I am probably going to take some heat for this....but its worth a shot. I am willing to take 2 tickets to the Sportsman show off of anyone who doesnt want them hahah.... Hint Hint TJ ahha Its worth a shot
  2. Hey Jonny, I shop in NY often. I usually only hit Gander Mountain though. I mainly pick up Musky stuff down there as it is a lot cheaper. Go to there "bargain bin" behind the reel counter and have a look whats there. i picked up a bunch of Believers, Magic Makers, Ernies, and Depth Raiders. They were all $4 yes $4. Its hit or miss, but a lot of their Terminal Tackle is much cheaper if you are in the area. If you are going out of your way to drive, the gas doesnt usually cover it. There is also a small shop off of River Road (First exit when you get off Grand Island) cant remember the name though. Hope this helps, Mike
  3. For that price range definitely stick with the Abu 6500, great reels for low cost. once you get into the Calcuttas or Curados the price bumps to almost $400. The Abu's seem to last forever too. i have a calcutta, curado and 2 6500's and i am just as happy with the 6500's as the others. Hope this helps Mike
  4. M&G for Spinner and Double Cowgirl. Cant go wrong with either. Itchin to toss the new Super Cowgirl
  5. Maureen, Garritt is right. The New Code Compendium is massive. They are in the process of actually taking out some stuff (especially part 9 stuff) They have added so many little tweaks to it, its overwhelming. The Building Code Commission is currently reviewing and should be sending amendments soon. For first time home buyers or uneducated home buyers, the show could help with some of the general processes that should be followed. There is always your local building department that should be able to help you or endless sites on the net full of information. I have to agree with Garritt again too, although Mike Holmes is a great person, he is a bit on the arrogant side. The good thing is he asks questions about anything. He is not afraid to ask the 'stupid' questions. As for the Karuk Group, they are phenomenal. Anyways, back to my original point. if you are sifting through the 2006 be sure to ask a lot of questions. they have made it so that you can build how you want as long as it can be proven that it will meet minimum standards. I use that damn book every day.....I am sick of it already (and no, I am not employed by a Municipality, I am with a large private homebuilder) Thanks, Mike
  6. I am going to have to agree with Rizzo and Lunker, the service levels have plummeted recently. I went into the Toronto (Buttonville) store and asked the guy behind the counter for a speed sensor for my Hummingbird for my 'travel to new lakes' boat. He argued with me that it didnt exist. I gave him the model number and and he still insisted they didnt make it. Well, on my way back, I stopped at BPS to see how much it was there. It was $4 bucks cheaper. I would much rather have given LB's my money instead but that guy turned me off of them completely. Its disappointing when you go to a mom and pop shop and the service is horrible. I will only buy stuff there when its on Sale now, i dont want to waste my time with rude associates going into a place like that. Mike
