  1. Unsure if those good ole Sorels are still made as well as they once were, but duct tape aside on one of two pairs of these boots owned, at 19 & 20 years old now, original liners and laces (on one pair) these boots are still as warm as ever. Incredible longevity and 10 years of nearly double winter use in the north.
  2. There are many... but there is a place on this earth and a person whom has shared it with me, that is likely our greatest fishing memory. A great number of pics could be found from there... http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66825
  3. Little bit of an eyeroller, yet overall quite funny. Thanks.
  4. First time ever icefishing the fella who took me used moose meat and I had bacon. We both caught specks. lol. Wonder which a shark would really prefer?
  5. Watched that vid last night and thought that was about as innovative as it gets... the watched Red Chair Swing and howled. Wiebe is a dweeb and funny as heckle.
  6. No rush. Angler will tell his tale how he sees fit. His catch, his life. Looking forward to viewing this giant as I've take a much bigger interest in muskies this past fall, and this fish is a biggun judging by these preliminary details. LSC, Nipissing, St. Larry's, Ottawa, and even Rideau (for it's size) have all coughed up some great specimens seen online through 2013. Awesome to know the quality of the fishery is what it is, and that by some people's view is improving each year.
  7. Splake are such buggers most days. Good catchin!
  8. Have only used the STX and limited at that over the years. No problems and I like it, but you would actually use yours 20 times more than I likely would. Bass fishing this season has been quite limited, sorry we didn't get the chance to get out.
  9. Mississippi River is a gem from top to bottom. From the lake through Lanark County into Frontenac is some super pretty country. Travelled from Crotch to Mississippi Lake and the number of smallies up top, with decent numbers of largemouth, pike and walleye in parts can make for some solid fun fishing days. Thanks for the report... got me reliving a little. Ragged and King's Chutes were favorite places along the way.
  10. 60 Yammy's are pure sexy. Get it on!!!
  11. Who doesn't like options? Cause a BPS in Ottawa will bring just a little more of that in their big kinda way. 25 minutes down the road too, instead of 4 hours to Vaughn.
  12. Have the Powerdrive now... will have a Terrova next spring. Must have a pedal though... and "remotes" too. Plenty good points and most have hit the nail on the head.
  13. Day in the boat you pulled out that mask you were grinning and laughing like a little kid. Must admit, for a mostly quiet and polite fella you've got an odd funny bone Mikey that keeps things interesting. Nobody I know throws the line "gotta a joke for ya" more than you do, but on week long trips and full day car rides, they're always welcome. Looks like you got a few people freaked out around here. For those who don't know, Mike's online fishing reports for a good few years now have always "wow'd" members elsewhere. A new house and plenty work slowing him a little these days, when he's out searching for back-lake trout in Eastern Ontario, there are few to none who catch'em and photograph 'em as good... nor often share with such wit. Not enough horseplay here though dood. The mask is awesomely intense and it hides that Roland head, keep it on awhile longer!
  14. The Great Bear Lake & Tree River experience will ruin anyone for life. It is as Dave would know as well, simply incredible. With char in the mix I'd stick to August but if wanting a better laker experience I'd like to try July. Plummers Trophy Lodge would be awesome to try too. I have a short "big trip" bucketlist for the moment that includes Ungava for atlantics and char, Sutton specks, Athabasca lakers & pike, Great Slave lakers & pike, Costa Rica for tarpon, and Panama for roosters and bills. As far as Ontario goes, would simply like to see more stretches of the Attawapiskat & Nipigon.
  15. Good fishin Mike. That 24 outta Rice is a dandy!
  16. Great shots. What a clan ya got there man! HBD to the little angler kiddo!
  17. An excellent broonie Rich.
  18. Our day started off a little interesting with a bad accident enroute, and the B's were understanding at scene while tending to one man's injuries, until medics arrived. Anyways... a second trip in the books fellas and it was another great time. Always really do enjoy your enthusiasm to fish and company in the Lund. Sweet work here with all the pics as well. Ti'll next time doods.
  19. Yes, yes, yes man!!! Really quite enjoyed those pics. Heckuva place to hunt alongside your best friend... dad.
  20. Thanks guys for your input and providing options for this. Over the winter too will have to see what can be done with at least one of the two pairs I still have. Some wader TLC. Thanks for the tips P.
  21. Head in a bubble here Brian and just reading this very sad news. Condolences to your brother, the family and you and yours as well. No parent should have to lose a child.
  22. Not going to argue with anything said there. You'd know that same comfort well Joe. Love me boat mang! Wished you could have made it too Dan. Weather that weekend was good, bit gusty out, but over the Sat & Sun we managed 18. Would certainly have been OK with you taking a cut of that just to enjoy your company. You and Mike would have got on great with your speck obsessions. Nice meeting you and Keith. They were on... all week... what can else can be said but "slay days" out there. Imagine it won't be the last time we bump into each other. Always a pleasure Al. Thanks for your info, stay well and hope to see you again out there. Thanks gang.
  23. Buddy of mine bought me an X67 in 2009 as a gift. Haven't had any reason to change from that. I'll flip back and forth between graph and flasher depending on mood. It's lightweight... smaller. Half the price of a Vex or Marcum. Has never frozen up. Runs sometimes 2-3 days on a full charge. Only thing I sometimes find is at the end of a long days fishing, that that little screen makes me bug-eyed. I do like the flasher units and would consider them, but if price is an issue and they're still making the X67 for under $300, they're good units.
  24. Have a blower on my CubCadet that does a great job overall. One or two shear pins get broken a season but that's a two minute fix. You can set it so that it tracks about an inch or two off the gravel if your driveway isn't paved. This will help with not chucking rocks onto the lawn. There's no comparison with how clean and precise you can keep your driveway all season, compared to a plow... but yeah, it'd be nice to have both. Up there, you likely get more dumps of snow that aren't as wet as we get here, even still, riding blowers if you take your time can get through pretty thick stuff. Bottom line... if having one, go with the blower. Some neighbors around me plow and they just get big snowbanks on the lawn and some a narrower driveway as the season goes on.
