What I found best in this report wasn't the fishing... Man, your kids happiness is the highlight of your life dood. They are in a great state of mind in every photo I see here. Keep up the great parenting... and fishing in 2014.

My nephews are 2 1/2 and 1 this Christmas. Leah is only 10 and still has plenty kid in her... Summer still pretends for her younger sister. Wouldn't mind a few DVD's... Dexter season 8, Breaking Bad & Game of Thrones seasons 1. Other than that, looking forward most to great food with the families, watching the kiddies open their presents and sit on Santa's (Uncle George) lap on the 24th for our annual cheers.

NF: Anyone else scream at their tv during UFC Fight Night ?
Moosebunk replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
Didn't know it ti'll taking the wife to her first NHL game at "The Garage" but from the second section she can pretty well turn every head within a hundred yards radius when she gets piped up. Like that every sporting event and concert... and loves her GSP on TV too. Shhheeesh! -
But 313 equals lucky 7. Cliff... end of the day you best have two drinks. Sorry to hear about what is certainly some of the most rotten karma anyone could possibly have. Hope it can all get sorted out easy enough, and covered by insurance of course.

I didn't know we (OFC) had our own brand!! Any one try it?

In Chilliwack one night, bought 3 Scottsmen a shot of Laphroig and they all pushed it aside. One fella even howled "what in unholy ffffock are ye tryin' ta dooo to me lad," in his disgust. Those seaside whiskeys aren't for everyone... and they're kinda right, Laphroig is an aquired fuel. As for Lagavulin... it must be an aquired taste too, it's OK but plenty go on about it. That's kinda the thing with all booze though... to each their own. My uncle Les was over when I was 19. It was a week of interesting scotch sampling. Les played saxaphone in a BIG band and travelled across U.K. Many distilleries would host venues that his and such bands would play at. He sampled much on the road over 40 years, but being his home was in the Orkney Islands, Highland Park was a favorite as it was the local scotch I believe. Scapa comes from there as well. We were lucky in Moosonee to get a case of Scapa during it's limited release here... I loved the stuff for a few years ti'll it was gone. Oban is a western Highland... haven't had it in probably 15 years but remembered loving it then. It was $76 a bottle here then and on a college budget quite a stretch. Think now it's about $120. Too bad. I won't pay anymore than about $75-80 tops for a bottle of booze, but most times with Scotch look for around $50-65... which makes MacCallan perfect. The Oban distillery is one closest to my fathers ancestral blood, MacCallum. Dalwhinnie, GlenLivet, MacCallan and Aberlour... All around Glenmore Park. All fine scotches. Don't often pay for the Dalwhinnie which leaves the other three. MacCallan and Aberlour are right next door to each other on the Spey, pretty well same water, same land. They're actually quite close in taste, Aberlour is done in sherry, and MacCallan in oak or sherry. Like the lighter oak tastes more but have barely sampled their stuff overall Anything sweeter and smooth is where I'm best with scotch. Some guys might like the smoke... or whatever. -
We'll I did it. Bought my first bait casting set up
Moosebunk replied to Rich Clemens's topic in General Discussion
Solid stick and combo Rich. Surprises me how heavy that M-H rod is. I have two M-H Muskie rods purchased some time ago, one Fenwick the other Shimano and both are rated for 15-30lb, whereas your St.Croix is 30-65lb. Given the choice I'd trade you both mine for yours. 8 foot is mint, and you'd certainly have enough stick with that too if wanting to troll skis. The Curado you can't go wrong. One thing with St.Croix I've had trouble with is the eyelet rings falling out. Three rods now (two baitcast, one spinning) all at around a years use, all second eyelet from the top, have lost their rings. It has become a nuisance... That said, they haven't been more solidly built muskie rods. Keep an eye one those eyes for any coming loose. -

Can't remember what Rye I used to drink with tonic when I was 19. That was about the end of the Canadian whiskey years, as my pops always kept more scotch on the bar downstairs. Funny, but with Christmas coming it was tradition late teens into early twenties, after getting home from friends on Xmas Eve, Dad and I would stay up and watch Alastair Sim in A Christmas Carol, while enjoying a scotch or two. MacCallan Scapa Oban Aberlour Longmorn Dalwhinnie GlenGarioch... ... to name a few good whiskeys over the years... GlenLivet 15 this week. No OFC brand scotch available in Canada yet. -
Slick stuff. Watching the air bubbles creep to and then go up the hole... lol.

Enjoyed that whole post Art... definitely something to think about when deciding short versus long term commitments to education, pay and work. Good thread. Good perspectives. Think the pay with this OFAH job sort of sucks but, in 99 I started with a grad rate of $18.30 hr. yet it meant at that time I would instantly be working, gaining experience and beginning the steady climb up the ladder. This job offered could be that foot in the door. The beginning experience. With many jobs in many fields nowadays not offering up long-term work and much becoming contractual, this is a start. And every single person out there has to start somewhere.

Put in 117 days in 2011, another 117 days in 2012 and right now sit at 117 days this 2013. Not an evening after work kinda angler either, those are usually 4 to 10 hour days on the water averaging out at two or more a week. Working in the ER 3 out of 4 weekends during when most of my friends get their time to do things together, I am at home midweek having completed the 12 hour mixed day and night shifts in 3 days and the kids are gone 8 hours to school. If it wasn't for fishing the arse would be even bigger from sitting in front of this computer. The only time motivation is lost, is during and immediately following tough stretches of nightshifts, directly after a long and tiring trip, after too much of one kind of fishing, and during the month of December. There's much still new around here and plenty yet to explore. Every day out is an education and exercise. Health is OK, don't often rely on any need for company, so may as well be out there living to fish.

Kicking off the season with some first ice Splake

Ahhhhh geeeeeeezus Mikey. Always crackin' 'em good before anyone else. -
Sell the tip-ups and make some sort of tip-downs for your second deadstick. Always seems more fun to play a fish on a rod versus by hand. Otherwise, looks like you're more than equipped to rock out there. Some good stuff.

Small game probably hunts you Terry.

YES!!! YES! Me too! Al... thinking about some newer sort of Photoshop for the future, and playing around more with videos. Thanks again guys.
