  1. For some Healthcare I think it's mainly coverage nowadays. Often 12 hours shifts at a measly garunteed minimum of 3 1/2 per 14 day pay period leaves ten days on average per period for extra work to be scheduled or picked up where needed/wanted. Gives the employer plenty flexibility to trouble-shoot their staffing needs. Down side, the PT never truly has a schedule... as, they're often required to give a certain amount of availability, upside... there's almost always extra work to pick-up. And, the overall workforce pool to draw from is bigger for the employer.
  2. Sooo been there, and sooo done that Joey. Great shots, me "likey."
  3. Great pics Chris. Some eyes, some specks and a whole lotta beer! Nice!!!
  4. I think the fish was it's Grandpapa. That one still had two inches and one long nose to grow.
  5. They are actually becoming more common in vehicles, basically recording on a loop. As easily as they can prove fault of others, they can hold you responsible for your mistakes.
  6. Not unbelievable at all... just the way it is everyday out there now. First on scene to an accident last fall outside of Westport. Guy (I'm pretty sure) was on cell phone and driving wrong side of road hit big truck with trailer as well. He was in and out of consciousness a couple times but while awake wanted me to find his cellphone... Adamant about it at times. Was thinking more about keeping him still as his glasses were impregnated into his forehead and his hip was mushy from his dash crushing his femur into it. When he got that phone he appeared to be trying to clear his history. The other accident a few hundred meters from where my kids stand out and wait for the bus each day, police on scene when I stopped (friend of mine) explained guy simply drove off the road while texting. I guess he tried to clear his history and even called his girlfriend after the crash to have her try and clear hers, but the police have a way of finding things out otherwise. Different time a little further down the road... and who knows??? Cellphone fines should be $1000's. Not kidding. Three offences and total loss of license for years. Not kidding.
  7. Lew, you with the dog and the touque's on should go in a frame some place. Cute pet. Sympathies bud!
  8. A 72-inch (or was it pound) pike was caught off the dock at Kesagami Lake. Took 4 hours to reel in, then it was shot in the head by the angler in front of Lodge guests. Said to me with a completely straight face and total conviction by the angler. Yeah right! The local tackle shop owner had two fish on the wall, a speck and an eye. The speck was about 4 pounds, the eye maybe 6 to 7 pounds... but of course when I asked, they were 8 and 12 respectively. Yeah right! Did say to him that he was waaaaay off... but that didn't go over well. lol. Earlier stories these were... Truth is, many people don't care and just say what they think their fish is. Oblivious to what is real... they just don't care. It's a case of the "whatevers." There's also those who just have no idea and take their best guess. And then there's the opposite, the guys who care soooo much that they have to stretch things. We on the internet see and hear more than most too
  9. Good show dood! Congrats on the lakers.
  10. Between 2006 to 2009 while fishing Kesagami Lake during the winter for pike and walleye, I was checked by the OMNR four times over four years, but one year twice. From 2009 ti'll now, I have been checked by the OMNR on the Rideau Lakes once. All times they have been excellent. Second or third check on Kesagami, the Officer read aloud my name off the card then said, "so you're Moosebunk?" To which I replied, "yes, did you get that off the card?" "He then stated, "Enjoy reading your posts on OFC and recognized your parka." He wasn't the only one. Before long planes out of Cochrane several times looked for me on the ice and pretty well landed on my head. A 30km long lake and they'd fish on top of me. But that's another story... and a lesson learned as well. Plane leaves Moosonee and to land in a Provincial Park has to announce that destination over whatever radio to whomever. Well, it's monitored of course... the plane pictured below flew from Sudbury once, Timmins twice and one other time an Officer came on skidoo from a campsite down the lake. With all that cost and effort just to bust two or three people of our party fishing in the middle of nowhere, year after year, one would think they'd be hungry to lay a charge. The officers would sniff around, check the bait on the hooks, numbers of fish kept, numbers of lines, licenses... First time they came in there was a pilot and two CO's. Different officers each year but the last two it was the same fella, all cool. Feeling like I was being head-hunted year-after-year I asked why they continue to come in, to which one once replied, "Kesagami is considered a trophy fishery" and so receives extra protection. Have also called CO's in Nipigon & Cochrane over the years and they've been genuinely helpful. I asked the CO on the Rideau to go through my boat and inspect for everything that the OPP might check as well, he did without hesitation. It would have to be a case of a few bad apples... and that sucks. Because it'd be easy to understand just how the stress could easily rise if they were jerks planning to lay just any stupid charge they possibly could. And here's a pic of some other OFC lurkers...
  11. X 2
  12. Ohhh I understood that perfectly. Just saying, he has a business on the lake, (probably fishes it often) but chooses a conservation license over sport, then chooses not to conserve. Had he a sport license this second BIG trout would be a non-issue... no? I sorta hope so too in this case... but would still agree with rules being enforced as well.
  13. So the guy actually has a resort on the lake and can't spring the $$$ for a sportfishing license. Consider this line-class record served... not conserved.
  14. Gidday again Mo! Stick around eh!
  15. Caught some of this earlier without volume. I liked it better. Just kidding Jedi !!! Some cool shots and your guitar playing is waaaay better than mine. You seriously on Zippo Prostaff dood???
  16. If you don't behave I'll just deny ever telling you about the place, or even knowing you for that matter.
  17. Pull out the rod, tweak the artificials, turn 'er on, transducer in the hole, and put the ping speed and sensitivity right up to the max. They'll be swimming by in no time.
  18. I like Cannons, Scottys and Big Jons. In no particular order. They're all good. Seriously. Pick one and that'll be "your" favorite in no time.
  19. Well Sir Doug... welcome aboard here my friend. There will be more fish coming this spring I hope. Your avatar is beard at it's gnarliest but, the man I know keeps himself in check and has heart of gold. Your years fishing and hunting will be an asset to this place.
  20. Fanatastic turnout by the looks of things... and what a tonne of awesome prizes for the event as well. That's some derby motivation for others to come out and support in future events. Well done by those who continue to make it all happen.
  21. UGHH!!! Harsh! WHY??? lol.
  22. Thanks again all. Making videos is an even longer and more involved process than writing reports, but this was fun for something different and the end result IMhumbleO is pretty cool to me. Totally Pete!!! Drilling the hole and my girls being funny and swinging their arms in the sleigh were favorites for me too.
  23. First quick look through several of the pages and it's probably one of, if not the best personal/professional angler websites I have yet to view. The boat deal, free gear, trip opportunities and publications will be all over you soon, certain of that. Year of experience and you've work hard at it all. Solid new start and good luck.
  24. You sir have an unparalleled talent with the lens... but not only that, it's the imagination first which sets up the entire scene. Creative Mike! Enjoy your photos every time dood... Ohhhh and good fishing too.
