  1. Solid stick and combo Rich. Surprises me how heavy that M-H rod is. I have two M-H Muskie rods purchased some time ago, one Fenwick the other Shimano and both are rated for 15-30lb, whereas your St.Croix is 30-65lb. Given the choice I'd trade you both mine for yours. 8 foot is mint, and you'd certainly have enough stick with that too if wanting to troll skis. The Curado you can't go wrong. One thing with St.Croix I've had trouble with is the eyelet rings falling out. Three rods now (two baitcast, one spinning) all at around a years use, all second eyelet from the top, have lost their rings. It has become a nuisance... That said, they haven't been more solidly built muskie rods. Keep an eye one those eyes for any coming loose.
  2. Can't remember what Rye I used to drink with tonic when I was 19. That was about the end of the Canadian whiskey years, as my pops always kept more scotch on the bar downstairs. Funny, but with Christmas coming it was tradition late teens into early twenties, after getting home from friends on Xmas Eve, Dad and I would stay up and watch Alastair Sim in A Christmas Carol, while enjoying a scotch or two. MacCallan Scapa Oban Aberlour Longmorn Dalwhinnie GlenGarioch... ... to name a few good whiskeys over the years... GlenLivet 15 this week. No OFC brand scotch available in Canada yet.
  3. Slick stuff. Watching the air bubbles creep to and then go up the hole... lol.
  4. Enjoyed that whole post Art... definitely something to think about when deciding short versus long term commitments to education, pay and work. Good thread. Good perspectives. Think the pay with this OFAH job sort of sucks but, in 99 I started with a grad rate of $18.30 hr. yet it meant at that time I would instantly be working, gaining experience and beginning the steady climb up the ladder. This job offered could be that foot in the door. The beginning experience. With many jobs in many fields nowadays not offering up long-term work and much becoming contractual, this is a start. And every single person out there has to start somewhere.
  5. An after dinner mint... with Primus!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYDfwUJzYQg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMsJlJdWof8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=953PkxFNiko
  6. Good woman there Brian! Bren's thing with me, "Drew, my dad and brother were always gone hunting, they brought home food every time otherwise we didn't eat. What's up with you?"
  7. FTW!!! Weird......
  8. Put in 117 days in 2011, another 117 days in 2012 and right now sit at 117 days this 2013. Not an evening after work kinda angler either, those are usually 4 to 10 hour days on the water averaging out at two or more a week. Working in the ER 3 out of 4 weekends during when most of my friends get their time to do things together, I am at home midweek having completed the 12 hour mixed day and night shifts in 3 days and the kids are gone 8 hours to school. If it wasn't for fishing the arse would be even bigger from sitting in front of this computer. The only time motivation is lost, is during and immediately following tough stretches of nightshifts, directly after a long and tiring trip, after too much of one kind of fishing, and during the month of December. There's much still new around here and plenty yet to explore. Every day out is an education and exercise. Health is OK, don't often rely on any need for company, so may as well be out there living to fish.
  9. We'll go lake trout fishing this winter. I'll run and gun and ya alright!
  10. Good start Joey. Many more to come this season. Be sure she follows you out there plenty too, cause the ladies always have the luck.
  11. Always a guy to keep an eye on. Whole-heartedly loves the outdoors and the life. Be sure you keep the gang here in the loop through the winter and paste those RB's reports this way.
  12. Ahhhhh geeeeeeezus Mikey. Always crackin' 'em good before anyone else.
  13. Hehehe!
  14. Sell the tip-ups and make some sort of tip-downs for your second deadstick. Always seems more fun to play a fish on a rod versus by hand. Otherwise, looks like you're more than equipped to rock out there. Some good stuff.
  15. Small game probably hunts you Terry.
  16. YES!!! YES! Me too! Al... thinking about some newer sort of Photoshop for the future, and playing around more with videos. Thanks again guys.
  17. Great fishing guys. Seemed the season flew by far too quickly this year but it was a great finish fer ya'll. Solid advice too Lloyd.
  18. Can you email this to my wife Simon, and possibly let us know when you'll be doing your next seminar. Good point sir.
  19. Right on Chris!!! Gotta feel great to beat the snowy bush, travel light and find some treasure.
  20. Has that ever happened in the fishing world ever???
  21. Probably because the angler who caught the fish made a decision which resulted in it being this way. I can only suspect that he having approached MCI and/or friends with MCI, chose to show & tell his fish how he the owner and angler of the fish and pictures sees fit. That this other effect now online is only because info leaked from him or his small group to someone(s) who felt they needed to bring it up on the www. Had we not known about it, we would be waiting for... nothing. The pics are private until made public it appears, and the "why" do we have to wait could be easily answered with, because they are someone else's pics and they will release them when they want to. Just my best logic.
  22. No fun to hear Doc. Hopefully that changes in 2014.
  23. Friend of mine floats the river each year Brian. I could ask which stretches would be best for a floattube. Would surely depend on levels too. But think of the honey holes you could access. Anything is more interesting than a Leafs game... thanks... I think...? Launched in Picton but drove across the lake. Those are actually the stacks in Oswego. Thanks for checking in folks. Been 10 years now... and always do appreciate the kind words, any feedback, keeping in touch, and putting my fishing out there on the www.
  24. Used to make beer. Now my parents and us split on merlot. Are there not any microbreweries in Yellowknife? Alot cheaper... if drinking in bulk. Man, up there that could be a goldmine business.
  25. So anything crazy happen??? Stateside or here? People should have to wear Ninja suits and carry they're best weapons to Black Friday each year. Anyways, It was kinda stupid. It is stupid. Wife gets caught up in it this year and wants to go to Bayshore in Ottawa. See the line of cars from the parking lots down two roads. Nope I says, drive straight through to Carling Ave, hang a left, and head straight to the LoneStar for fajitas and a beer. Much easier to deal with. Way home looked for deals at Walmart, Best Buy, Future Shop & Costco... deals didn't exist. Some crap here and there was on sale though.
