  1. Wow, people getting bent out of shape that they might ween us off a 100 page book that we all pick up to read half a page of. Seriously, most of us only need 2 or 3 pages, that's it! At 5 cents a page at the Library, I'm sure the librarian would even hold your hand while you find it and select those 2 pages and hit the print button. The MNR has a budget, those dollars would do better if they were allocated to a different resource. And if you don't think the regs are easier to access today, I'll race you. You go find your book and I'll Google it. That book has gotta be around here somewhere ????
  2. Boiled 85 gallons off this weekend with my cousin down in Pembroke. We had always made syrup with our grandfather but he hasn't made it in about 10 years so my cousin made a boiler this winter and I must say it worked quite well. There are still a few kinks to work out but for year one, it was pretty good. We didn't get started boiling until 4:30 so we boiled until midnight and fired up again the next morning. Not ideal but there was always a hockey game on so it worked out ok. My cousins boiler contraption. Starting on the left is the warming pan, then the middle pan is hot sap and the right pan is the finishing pan. He would like to put a valve to drain the warming pan into the middle pan just to make it a little easier. On the finishing pan, 1" is roughly 2 gallons. Dogs were getting tired. The next day and the dogs were still tired, hard work this syrup stuff. Getting close... All in all, no better way to spend the Easter weekend than with family boiling sap.
  3. That's one to remember. When in doubt, go faster!
  4. Ya, I've heard of the law. I challenge any officer of the law to remove my hitch without a grinder or cutting torch. That sucker is seized in there so bad. It was seized when I bought the truck and I tried to remove it by pounding on it with a 10lb sledge while it was tied to a tree and someone was applying pressure in the truck. Thing didn't move so it's in there for life. The cops would have to hire somebody full time to give out those tickets up here though.
  5. Just sever their right hands and be done with it, if that doesn't learn them then there's always the left But seriously, the charges should be similar to drug charges. You get a smaller sentence if it's under a certain amount and a larger sentence if you have intent to traffic. With the quantities these guys had, they didn't have it for personal consumption, the intent to sell is surely there. Should be a stiffer punishment for sure.
  6. I drove by on the weekend on the way to Ottawa, it's like the next step from down and side imaging. I saw one spot where there was what looked like an old bridge that was used before they flooded the area. Pretty cool.
  7. Those are some healthy trout, nice fish!
  8. Those icebergs are pretty freakin cool!
  9. Nice fish, must have taken a while to dry out after that trip though.
  10. 124.7 here in Sturgeon. It's traveling season, time to start jacking so that people can get used to paying through the nose before they go on vacation.
  11. Well, every little bit counts, I wouldn't mind a hunt up here.
  12. Some nice fish and nice weather to go with it, right on!
  13. I own 2 Corollas, an 05 and a 13. I must say I am very pleased with the 05, all that I have done are the brakes and one piece of the exhaust and it has 260k on it. The 13 is still newish, 28k, so it is too early to tell if it will last as long but overall its a decent vehicle. With all these recalls hapenning it really makes you wonder what other corners were cut or if anything else was overlooked.
  14. Man, awesome report. NONE of that would have been possible without the Johnsonvilles!
  15. I have a Catala 200 apart in a ziplock bag, do you think if I mailed them the parts they could put it back together for me lol?? I just always have one or two parts left over when I put it together.
  16. Ya, I saw them interviewing people on the streets of TO about the spring bear hunt. It doesn't affect their daily lives, they shouldn't be able to comment. They see bears in the zoo, I see them in the bush out back!
  17. Really? I always see them asking $20 for a rapala. I haven't had luck there, Amazon.ca that is. I'll have to check again.
  18. Ya my old man lives up there. I've been up quite a bit, mostly summers to work while I was in school. Beautiful area for fishing, only thing I really missed was bass fishing.
