  1. I'm heading out to the 7th Line (Simcoe) on Saturday. I'll keep everyone posted on the conditions and if the fish are hitting : )
  2. Hi folks. A very special thanks to all that completed the survey. We were only expecting 30 or so responses but so far, we have had almost a hundred people complete the survey. I spoke to my cousin about the survey results and she will have them ready for everyone in the next few days. Thanks again to all.
  3. Hi folks, My cousin is doing a study on the Canadian fishing community for a project. If you have a few moments, please complete the following survey in the attached link. http://www.kwiksurveys.com/online-survey.p...=MKLMJ_800a59bb This is completely anonymous, and won't take more than 1 minute. If anyone is interested in the resulting data, please feel free to send me a PM. Much appreciated Thank you!
  4. Try to find green weeds in 9-12 feet of water and you will find the largemouth bass. There is a decent spot to take the kids to the right of Paudash Lake Marina (Lower Paudash). Go half way between the shore and the tip of the island closest to shore. I fished there a couple of weeks ago with the kids trying to get into some perch. To my surprise we ending up catching some good size bass. We were only using basic hook and sinkers under slip floats set at about 6-8 feet eith only half pieces of worms. Good Luck.
  5. Successful fishing trip first fishing trip on Lake Erie - Long Point Bay. We started at 7am fishing 5 foot flats/ isolated weed patches right out of St Williams Launch. And right away landed a 2 pound large mouth on a spinner bait - Keying in on the certain type of weed that he was holding. We went searching for deeper weeds. And founds excellent weed lines in 10 FOT right off of Bait Island near turkey point. They looked like long fingers parallel to each other. At first we position the boat in the weed lines casting parallel to the edges. Manage to land 2 nice keepers on a Spinner bait and X-rap. By around 9am we had already landed 4 decent Lake Erie larges. The fish started to move off on the edges in towards the lane ways in between the weeds. Had some hard hits in the open water off the spinner baits. My bro had a pike slam his spinner bait, but lost it at the boat. Awesome to see them strike your lure in clear water. The lure of choice were Strike kings spinner baits - Root beer, White and chartreuse. We had more bites with fluorocarbon leaders. The water color is green medium visibility. Thanks for the tips from OFC. We were able learn lots about Long Point bay Large Mouth. The key was to locate visible isolated weed patches and fish the edges and laneways in between the weed lines. Our next trip will be even more productive with this knowledge. **Most important** - watch the waves. Luckily our 16foot LUND was able to manage. But if anyone fishing with a smaller boat, I would stay closer to shore. We fished for 4 hours and landed 8 large mouths. RF tight lines
  6. We decided to visit my brother in Port Dover for the weekend to do some fishing. Looking at the shore lines along Lake Erie can be very intimidating for us Kawartha anglers. We were wondering if anyone has any tips for LONG POINT BAY because, this area seems to be the most protection for the gusting winds. We found a few old fishing maps and the area is loaded with Smallmouth, Largemouth and Northerns According to the map the area is very shallow and murky, in and around the islands. If anyone could help us find what good baits to use or locations or certain depths with weed lines that the fish would hold on. It would really help us make this a successful fishing trip. Thanks Ronin Fisher We own a Lund Rebel XL 1625 w/ 50hp yammy.
  7. I would try use a big slip float ( Bigger slip floats cast further) rigged with a 4'inch Berkley leech, adjusted to hover in the strike zone 1-3 feet off bottom. The current will keep sweeping your bait over the fish, just make sure to give it action with your rod tip. But if the fish are feeding higher. Try the white Berkley Jerk shad rigged weightless to cast in the shallows. Let the fish tell you what they want and adjust to that. Only if we knew how to speak to bass like Kevin Van Dam
  8. Thanks for all the replies, We called the dealership about the problem. And it seemed that the RPM gauge was set wrong and needed to be adjusted. So were going to test it out on Sunday. Hopefully it will work. But it still doesn't explain the high pitch cylinder sound that comes and goes at WOT. The motor was a 2007 factory refurbish that still has 1 year warranty remaining. Plus 2 years with the dealer.
  9. Boat and engine: 2007 Yamaha F50 on are Lund Rebel 1625XL Puchased date: March 2009 Problem: We started noticing a high pitch metal to metal sound coming from the engine at WOT. We had a look at the user manual and the recommended rmp is between 5000-6000. The rpm @ wot(wide open throttle) is running @ 7000+rpm We just bought this boat at the spring fishing show brand new, expecting no problems and ready for normal use. But to find out that there is a problem. This really questions the integrity of the dealerships trust. If anyone has any information about this problem please respond.
  10. Planning to try this season. Always wanted to join a tournament but never wanted to pay the big fees. This way is a (pay as you go tournament). I sure will fish better knowing that theres money on the line. Good luck Look for Ronin Fisher
  11. It all depends on the size of lure you fishing with 3/8oz or 1oz or heaver. You will have trouble casting bigger baits. The heaver the lure the bigger the fish. Don't get it wrong, small lures will catch big fish. Its just more often you will catch 5-10lber. I have landed 20+ channel cats on my 6'6 mh Shimano Compre fine. tight lines
  12. Great post Greg, We were out on Rice on Saturday. It was a slow day, conditions were very flat and hot. Tried the deeper weed lines with 4' husky jerks, but it only produce one 2-3lbs that we lost at the boat. Around 2pm the fishing was slow so we switched to drop-shotting worms and had lots of success but nothing big. Had better days on Rice. Tight Lines
  13. Thanks for blowing my cover as possing as a OFC member. Geezzz . I was about to offer a 99% employee discount on Shimano Core 100MG & 100MGFV. But seriously guys that Kinder Surprise lure could be an advantage over tough situations and as for working for thetackelwareshouse.com I wish !!! Another resource site is http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheLureTour&view=videos They feature underwater footage of lures, so you know what action they produce before buying.
  14. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/videos/ETR.html?pcode=ETR Shinichi Fukae of Mineola, Texas, claimed the $100,000 first-place check at the 2006 Wal-Mart FLW Tour season-opener on Lake Okeechobee, he played a little game of cat and mouse. This is nothing like you have ever seen before. And by the looks of it, it has extreme potential getting BIG Bass out of there holes. But it looks like a kids toy.
  15. Hello fellow anglers, I'm just about to head downtown water front (11:00am) to do some pike fishing. I have a few spots I will be trying, one of them being the spit. Hopefully I can run in to some pike. I would sure like to post some pictures for you guys. I read that its been pretty slow fishing for these spawning females. Anyways If you decide head down look for the only Asian angler crazy enough to fish for these toothy critters. - Tight L I N E S - ! ! !
