  1. That is a 7' Frontier, it has been sold to another member here. Actually, that photo is from May, a couple of those rods have been replaced.
  2. Watch out Mike, one turns into many...
  3. Smallmouth are a Black Bass, part of the Sunfish/Centrarchidae family.
  4. Keep an eye out for some new stuff from strikezone!
  5. Yeah, Mercury's new "Big Tiller" system. You can pretty much put a tiller handle on any of their new motors, add hydrualics, and you're good to go.
  6. Why are you pointing people to your website instead of the official one? http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/ontario/g20marine.htm
  7. That was Thanksgiving '07
  8. Catch a bass off the dock while your friends are still sleeping
  9. I'm pretty sure that's the going rate for a Stradic FI spool. Considering the reel is $180 MSRP, that's not a bad price.
  10. You can find the real Punch Skirts at Fishing World in Hamilton, I was just there and pickings are getting slim, with a couple colors already sold out.
  11. Shimano Canada 866-491-5229
  12. That was Hilarious! "I think that's called laughing as you sink" I guess you didn't watch
  13. Largies, in the Haliburtons.
  14. Eastern Ontario has some awesome bass fishing, as well as lake trout and musky.
  15. It sounds like you might be getting a dropshot confused with a carolina rig? Your mainline should be attached to your leader (only if using braid as your mainline) using your choice of a line/leader knot (such as a surgeons or uni-uni) or a swivel (smallest swivel you feel comfortable using). On your leader, you tie a hook on with a palomar knot, passing the tag end back through the eye of the hook so as to make it stand straight out. Tie the hook on so it will be at the desired depth when your weight is tied on. Your weight should be the last thing to go on, at the end of your leader. if you don't like the distance from hook to weight (distance the hook will be from bottom), you can move the weight up or down the line. The new dropshot weights make this super easy with the line tie. Just tie an overhand knot on the line and wedge the line tie above it.
  16. This is from last Friday, US Waters.
  17. If you only plan on going once or twice you can get a single day license. https://nyfgisales.appsolgrp.com/fgnyia/newCustomerLogin.do
  18. these are pretty good topo maps, especially for free. They install flawlessly to MapSource and render good on my handheld, but Again, no bathymetry.
  19. Unless you're a human digital scale, you're never going to notice +/- half oz. I have fished the 7' Heavy Avid for hours on end throwing 1oz jigs and ever felt fatigued. Just trying to save you a bit of money, bud!
  20. I haven't been able to find Canada Inland Lakes for Ontario on the torrent sites, but it looks like it has most of the stuff not covered by the Bluechart maps. Bluechart is amazing if you fish the Great Lakes or Kawarthas/Trent, but useless for places like the Muskokas and Haliburtons.
  21. You can't go wrong with the 7' MH Avid, one of the most versatile rods I own. That said, I also own the Primier model, and while the action and power are nearly identical, the avid is hands down more sensitive. Adding to the increased sensitivity, are the better guides, and the shaped handle which I really like. Almost all my gear is shimano but I haven't been able to let go of my 2 Avids, the 7' MH Fast and 7' H Fast, the latter being an amazing pitching/jig rod. Also, I've owned a Legend Tournament and honestly they're nothing to write home about. They don't balance very well because of the split grip, and at a $40 premium over the Avid you're really not getting much more than a fancy blue blank and a little graphic that says "Frog" on it. When buying technique specific gear, don't let the manufacturer tell you what you should be using, go out and throw some frogs on rods you already have and see what works and what doesn't and make your decision. Case in point, at the spring fishing show my buddy was looking for a spinnerbait rod, and ended up walking out with a loomis frog rod because it had the action/taper he wanted for throwing big blades. I don't remember the specs of the LTB Frog rod, but im sure it's just a Heavy/Fast or Heavy/XFast. If you find that's the frog rod for you there's an equally spec'd rod in the avid lineup for cheaper, and you're only loosing the shiny blue blank and the "Frog" designation. But you have $40 left over to put towards the MH/Fast Avid.
  22. I would stay away from power steering on a 12v (Power Drive). Cable steer is much more responsive, especially when your battery starts to get low on juice. Let the battery drive your motor and your foot do the steering.
  23. I put on a set of 31x10.5 Goodyear Duratracs last summer and they are kick ass tires. They got me out of a bunch of sticky situations, except once when they weren't big enough to keep my diff off the ground
  24. How were they stored over the winter? If this is the first charge of the year, it might take a couple drain/charge cycles before they will charge to full capacity.
  25. Has anyone else seen Jim Saric mention OFC in one of those "I don't fish for a living, I live to fish" spots?
