  1. Aren't Trackers All-Welded and Crestliners riveted? I'm pretty sure the All-Welded Trackers are called "Crackers" for a reason.
  2. If you pay at the pump with a credit card they authorize $150 and then charge whatever you end up using. The authorization usually takes 3-5 business days to clear. Some pumps like at Mac's Milk will show a little button on the screen that says "Other Amount" and you can select whatever you want and the pump will stop when you've reached that amount.
  3. The highest end Quantum rod would barely come close to competing with a St. Croix or Loomis, even at their low ends.
  4. Why not go with something like a Loomis walleye series rod, maybe a WCBR783S, pair it up with a Stradic FI or MgFB (discontinued but they're still around, would be my choice) in a 1000 size. Remember, you don't need anything bigger than a 1000 for vertical jigging.
  5. I'm going to grab the new Wragler DuraTrac before the snow comes. My A/T's are wearing thin and I can get a good price on the DuraTrac in 31x10.5
  6. If you don't want to name the lake, you shouldn't have taken the description from Wikipedia!
  7. double surgeon's knot http://www.animatedknots.com/surgeonsjoin/index.php This is a must on a casting setup, where I find any other knot gets hung up on the guides.
  8. I have the alpha, and it has so many good features like neoprene cuffs, suspenders, fleece lined hand warmer pockets, fleece lined collar. My only complaint is that for a $300 suit, they spent about .02 on the hood, which is garbage. Here it is in action for Walleye on Quinte in December
  9. For people who are bass fishing, stay away from any 50lb digital scales. They're notoriously inaccurate at weighing lighter fish. Stick with a 25lb if you're not going to be weighing 30lb salmon or big muskies.
  10. Wish I would have known. We only come up for a week, arrive on Labor Day. Maybe next year! You have some really good smallie fishing in that part of the lake, you're a lucky guy.
  11. I only ask because I was fishing Webb Bay this past week, and saw that boat in the background of the 4th piciture. It's sitting so low in the water, every time a wake or wave hits it, it goes over the back and into the boat. Someone is going to be pretty pissed when they get back up to their cottage to find a boat full of water. EDIT: BTW, We also fished the Ouse. We caught largemouth right up until we hit the beaver dam. The beaver came out and put on a nice show for us, but must have spooked the largies. We only caught rockbass after continuing upriver past the beaver dam.
  12. Hey, is your cottage in Webb Bay?
  13. Here's a good step-by-step to building a portable livewell. http://www.instructables.com/id/Portable-Livewell/
  14. Define "Spring Time", because if it was before June 27th, then she was not within her rights.
  15. These are the hooks I use, and they work really well. The weed guard is a very fine wire, and I haven't had any problems with hook-ups. There is another version out there by a different manufacturer, where the weed guard is made of nylon, and it doesn't get bent out of shape like the wire one in the picture.
  16. I use Palomar from line to tackle, and Triple or Quadruple (depending on line size) Surgeons from line to leader.
  17. I did some plowing when I was a teenager and my Grandpa still owned a farm, and the IMP was the highlight of the year. Now I live in the city and sit in front of a computer every day.
  18. Watch out for Cobb, he's on fire!
  19. I've never used the Xcaliber weights, only Tru-Tungsten. Tru-Tungsten weights don't have any sharp edges, which is what you should look for on your Xcaliber weights. Also, did you peg your weight? When the weight slides down your line and contacts the the knot, it's inevitably going to fray the line and make your knot eventually fail. Stick a toothpick in the top of the weight and snap it off so the weight can't move up and down your line.
  20. You musky elitists need to take a chill pill
  21. I would pack some of the following baits; bucktail jigs for walleye, craw imitations, tubes, and white spinnerbaits for smallies, big worms (7"+), big jigs for largies. The problem I found my first time on Rice was the panfish would hit almost anything. When I started going to bigger baits, I started getting big fish. One morning throwing big craw imitations in 9-12 FOW got me and my wife each a 4lb smallmouth. Now, there is a lot more largemouth water on Rice than smallmouth water, but throwing big baits on Rice is a must for either species of bass.
  22. I would hazard a guess at Japango, but there are so many sushi places downtown. Down at King & Simcoe there is a really good one called Sei, if you don't find the place you're looking for you might want to give it a try.
  23. I buy a lot of stuff from them that's not as popular here and subsequently hard to find locally. They have really quick fedex shipping but you need a decent size order to really make it worth it. smalliefisher is correct though, the guys at Fishing World stock some of the more obscure brands and higher end stuff I look for.
  24. This is probably the best advice here. Running the engine wide open for 5-10 minutes (back to the launch) should clear out any fresh carbon buildup from the day's trolling.
  25. Thanks for the link, cambo!
