  1. I should be on the 401 heading east to Quinte at that time, hopefully will make for a interesting drive and not to much of a distraction.
  2. I have this week off, and if I hadn't just firmed up a private cottage on a trophy bass lake me and my 4 buddies would be all over this.
  3. When drifting, cast in the same direction so you're not dragging. Keep your line taught but don't move the weight. Use the tip of your rod to twitch the line and put whatever action on it you want, but keeping the line taught so you feel the hit. Some people say less is more when it comes to dropshotting and I tend to agree in clear waters like the Lower Niagara/Ontario and Erie.
  4. You should look into carbontex aftermarket drags by smoooth drag. I have used them in old C3s and also a Calcutta TE100GT. They're the smoothest, most consistent drags I own. I haven't fished a reel with stock drag that came even close to the carbontex washers. I'm on my phone now but I'll get you the link when I get home. Alternatively you can just google "smoooth drag"
  5. You can, and I'm going to tell him how via PM in a couple seconds Remember, this is the fishing industry, money talks.
  6. I use triple surgeons knot, but I would never tie 30lb braid to 8lb fluoro. Even with the Albright knot, mismatching line diameters between braid and fluoro is not a good idea. It's highly likely that the knot is not the problem, your line selection is.
  7. I work in downtown Toronto writing software for one of the biggest banks in the US.
  8. Another couple weeks and chucking spoons off the pier will probably start producing
  9. Erie, Paul Castallano (905) 246-9127 See my pic for a reference Edit: Paul is based out of the Niagara region. A bit far for you
  10. I have had the same pair of flak jackets for over 3 years now. They're great because of the replaceable lenses. Also, oakley polarized lenses come with a "hydrophobic" coating which beads up the water and sweat, and it rolls right off. Also, I can keep an extra set of lenses handy for low light conditions without having another pair of glasses. Lenses switch out in less than 30 seconds. My fav lenses have been vr28 iridium and tungsten iridium. Both polarized. At $145, the lenses are more expensive than most mid-range polarized glasses, but optical quality is top notch. Make sure if you do get something like Maui Jims that you don't get glass lenses. Half the reason I wear sunglasses is for protection from flying lures when my buddy insists on jerking lures out of trees.
  11. You would have to get in contact with someone from Pure Fishing Canada
  12. If I'm pitching to slop, I will peg a heavy tungsten flipping weight, open water or wood/brush I use Owner Phantom weighted EWG tube hook. If you find yourself at BPS pick some of these up. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Phantom_Weighted_Tube_Hooks/descpage-OWTH.html
  13. Why not try using leader material for your leaders, instead of mainline? Also mismatching line diameters will cause your braid to cut the fluoro knot. I only use Seaguar Blue Label or Froghair, and connect my braid to fluoro with a Triple Surgeons Knot. If I'm fishing 30lb braid on a baitcaster, it's 20lb fluoro lead if needed. 30lb on spinning, 15lb fluoro. 20lb braid on a baitcaster, 15lb fluoro. Using the above formula I've never had any problems.
  14. There's no way I'm waiting until Oct. for this. I'll be ordering it's equivalent from Japan, the Scorpion 1000XT.
  15. I'm pretty sure that's Dave's face on Will Farrell's body, taken from "Semi-Pro"
  16. You will need a copy of "Canada Inland Lakes — Ontario" from Garmin. About $100 at Radio World. Garmin - https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=37821 List of Lakes - http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/inland/canada_lists/Ontario.pdf
  17. Hey Bill, not sure what your workflow is like but I'll describe mine and how I get multiple maps on my 60cx. Install MapSource software that comes with your Garmin Download/Buy maps (this won't work if you're downloading compiled files from torrent sites, you need installable maps) Install maps onto computer Open MapSource software and confirm installation of maps Unlock maps; You will need to unlock the maps for MapSource and your device. This is really simple using the instructions provided with your download. Once you have multiple mapsets installed on your computer and unlocked open MapSource and use the Map Select Tool to select which parts of which maps you want. I have a 1GB MicroSD card which I have not been able to fill up with over 1000 waypoints, tracks, routes, and maps. Once you have selected which parts of each mapset you want, load them to the GPS. On the GPS, go to the Map Setup, Maps tab, press the Menu button and it will pop up a list saying "Hide BlueChart" or "Show Ibycus Topo". It's best to only display one mapset at a time as it can slow the unit down. PM me if you want more info
  18. Honestly, there's really only one choice and it's the GPSMAP 60csx by Garmin. I have the 60cx and the only thing it doesn't have is electronic compass and barometric altimeter of the 60csx. Wish I would have spent the extra $50! Sweet color screen, super long battery life on AA, especially if you use good batteries like 2500mah rechargeables, almost instant signal, and lots of map options. Bluechart and City navigator from Garmin are good and can be found for free if you know where to look. Ibycus Topo is also free, made by a guy in Calgary and downloadable via bittorrent. It's up to version 3.2 now, and lots of improvements in the data/accuracy of the maps.
  19. If you need to get into the backcountry at all, stay away from anything with 4 wheel independent suspension. Try and find a '03-05 ZR2 Blazer/Jimmy Highrider
  20. I could care less about their customer service, but when I go into a shop and I can't even fondle a Rapala without asking someone to unlock a glass case, I go elsewhere. I can understand if you want to lock up a $35 Megabass or keep the Lucky Crafts behind the counter, but Rapalas in a glass case? Why don't they just call fisher people thieves.
