  1. myself and my girlfriend, ashley, headed to windsor on saturday morning to hook up with Bob Devine of chartertalk guide servive. met him at the ramp around 8am and headed out onto the detroit river for a little walleye jigging. first spot yeilded 2 walleye and one smallmouth bass, then nuthin for a few drifts. a phone call later and we were running down river, 20 miles down river, haha. got to another area and made our first pass. FISH ON! we spent the rest of our day fishing that area and boated a total of 16 walleye, 3 smallmouth bass, 1 rock bass, 1 sucker, 1 silver bass and 1 muskie. a boat in the smae area as us hooked into a sturgeon!! the poor guy fought the fish for about an hour before it came unbuttoned haha. he looked pretty upset about it, just kinda sat in the boat for a while. lol. we had a few sprinkles of rain and winds blowing a bit harder then forecasted, but we persisted and had a great day. gotta give credit to my lovely girl, ashley for putting up with it. shes not a fan of the cold or rain, AND shes 7 months pregnant on top of things!! OH, and she landed the biggest walleye of the day, her FIRST EVER walleye.... 29.25" PB Walleye, and this girl had some shoulders on her!! heres the muskie i caught sadly i forgot my camera in my truck, so we only got a couple pics with Bob's camera. it was a great day out there! they have a simply amazing fishery out there. Bob is a great guy to spend a day on the water with. he knows his stuff out there and can show ya a thing or two when it comes to catchin walleye on the river. we will without a doubt be back out with him! i highly recommend him to anyone whos lookin for a great day on the water for whatever finned foe u wanna chase! www.chartertalk.com thanks again Bob! we'll see u again soon!
  2. hahahaha thats hilarious!! see ya saturday Bob!
  3. I love the lures. They catch fish. I have a bunch and I'm really excited to try out some of the new ones I picked up for this season. And I was talkin to someone who is in charge of marketing and prostaff for the company and they are expanding the line up even further. He is very excited about what they have coming. Can't wait to see it!!
  4. quantum has a service center in orillia, and they are fantastic to deal with. very fast and never give any hassel. call them up, tell them the issue, send them the rod or reel, and usually within 3-5 days u have ur gear back in ur hands.
  5. use a tube dragged along bottom. start deep, look for small breaks or transition areas of sand to gravel and so on. move ur way in from there.
  6. for about 120-130 bucks u can get a quantum kinetic PT. excellant reel, reel good styling and a solid reel. jump up to 150 and get a quantum catalyst. another excellant reel. if u wanna spend more, drop about 180-200 and get a quantum Energy PT one of the best reels on the market and at a much better price then most other companies "elite" reels.
  7. the past few years... several of the winning fish in the cat derby held by fishmaster have been caught from shore.
  8. EXACTLY! no one combo is superior to all others. its all a matter of personal preference! asking what lenght, power, line, etc. is fine, u'll get a proper answer, with some varying degree of length, line weight, because someone likes a longer rod, someone likes a shorter rod and so on. but u'll get the main point. asking for a brand on any forum is totally pointless. all u will get is guys pushing the brand THEY like. one guy will say shimano this loomis that... the next guys will say st croix legend tournament rods with ardent reels. someone else will say quantum rods and reels. is any one of them better then the other? some say yes, some say no, personally they will all do the same job, at varying prices ranges. i use quantum reels, i love them. very smooth and reliable. great drag in them, and they look great. not a fan of shimano, but i own 2 citica's and they are great. abu garcia... hate them, didnt like the reels, customer service from them was horrible, same with shimano the times i dealt with them. go grab a few rods and reels u like, in the price range u want... and make a decision based on what works best for u.
  9. for an extra 10 bucks u can get a st croix mojo rod, and they have a technique specific tube rod. i personally use a 7' medium power fast action Backwoods rod. custom made but the price is very good compared to most custom hand made rods. paired up with a quantum energy PTi20 spinning reel, 15lb spiderwire stealth and a 10-12lb flouro leader
  10. most of the areas in hamilton, or niagara that have a lake big enough to launch a boat, will allow u in with an electric motor. binbrook conservation area fpr example, just in the past couple year has allowed bass boats and other motorized boats allowed on the lake under electic motor only, but u HAVE to keep the outboard trimmed up and out of the water at all times.

  12. talk to Bob Devine. hes from windsor and guides on the river. im goin out with him april 24th. hes prolly the best around for the Detroit River, send him a message or check out his website www.chartertalk.com he has a fishing reports section u can get some info off of as well.
  13. havent used the invisabraid yet, no real need to in my opinion. mind u, i dont really fish for muskies. bass fishing i use spiderwire, and love it. power pro is garbage, tried it, was very disappointed in it and never used it again. stren make a good braid as well. but think about it, do u really need the invisabraid... clearly muskies arent line shy. so having invisabraid really isnt gonna help u catch more fish. i believe it costs a bit more then the stealth as well.
  14. common misconception that bass hide in deep water in the winter. some bass with stay shallow all through the year even under ice. seen lots of bass on the camera this winter fishing a bay with 4-5' of water. and there is water 20' deep only 100 yards away and much deeper water then that not much farther.
  15. the grand river is great for walleye. welland river also has some, just gotta put the time in to find the rite areas. binbrook conservation area has walleyes and some really nice ones. again, gotta put the time and effort in there to get them. and a lesser known one, the niagara river. lower niagara in the spring gets a good run and u can get double digit fish down there if u get the rite spots. slacker water in the niagara is what to look for.
  16. the quantum incyte is a nice reel. very smooth and looks far better then the rest of the reels u mentioned.
  17. power pro just sucks. plain and simple. used it before, and same thing, very weak line, breaks off easy, and even breaks off when tossing some baits out. and i used 30-50lb. after that, line was stripped off the reel, and tossed, never will use it again. it doesnt sit well on the reel, doesnt cast as good, and the power in it sucks... oh, and i didnt like my hands turning green after using it one. i only got it cause the store had a sale on bulk line spooling. i normally would use spiderwire stealth. after that fiasco, i went back to spiderwire and thats all.
  18. will ALL subways be taking part in this? im in hamilton, and i dont wanna drive to the GTA to buy a sub lol... i mean, i will... but the wife may hurt me with said sub...
  19. thats awesome dave! i mean, sorry their giving away ur boat. (unless i win it, in which case, hahahaha thanks!) lol
  20. look at a shimano calcutta. lots of sizes and speeds u can pick from, or the curado 300E low profile reel with a big spool and line capacity
  21. i just wanted to thank rockys tackle repair in orillia for the excellent service they provide! they are a quantum warranty center and i have never had an issue dealing with them! ive sent rods and reels and they are so fast at getting them back to me. they fixed a reel for me last year, and i broke the same part on the reel one week after it was fixed lol, i called them and sent the reel in last thursday, and got the reel back tuesday good as new! also sent in 2 rods to warranty, one of which i lost all of the rod but the handle due to an odd break, and they warrantied that rod for me as well, i should have those rods by next week. if u ever need a quantum rod or reel fixed, give these guys a call, they are great!
  22. glad to hear they took care of ur rod dude! gotta love when companies actually CARE about they men and women who actually buy their products and support them!
  23. i agree, u got balls dude!! haha, but it payed off... thats actually a sweet picture, even for a cell phone, the colors on the fish and rocks just look great!
  24. what does it cost to have an ad or sponsor placed on the site?
