  1. i dont typically buy the "house" brand from any store unless im in desperate need of somethin and cant get what i really want. however, i came across a great deal on ebay from a store in the states that was selling bulk "senkos" in 50 packs for a killer price. so i bought a bag of one color to try. got them today and have to say, they look great, are nice and soft, but have good weight to them, as i typically throw them weightless on a wacky rig. and they have good scent. so im excited to try them out.
  2. i was hoping to make it down dave! but im gonna take the kids fishing saturday for some big 'ol channel cats! gotta love the spring kitties!!
  3. i see both of your points. i was thinking more along the lines of an information source, not a place for people to come bash products or companies. but we see A LOT of questions seeking opinions on rods and reels and having an area with reviews of products and an explanation of rod actions and tapers and their ideal uses would help a lot of people. they can get detailed info on what rod and reel would be ideal for them to get for drop shotting, spinnerbaits, etc.
  4. im goin out with bob devine on april 24th! went out with him last fall for muskie, he is a stand up guy and just awesome to spend a day on the water with!
  5. i agree... maybe a seperate section could be made for just gear related questions and talk. product reviews can be added to it. inside that section could be sub sections dedicated to each company. we have enough junkies on here we can easily fill up the sections 2with reviews and advice
  6. quantum reels all the way. excellant quality and cheaper then a lot of other companies. great warranty and service on their stuff! as for one rod to cover ALL those species... thats tougher lol. a 7' medium power with a fast tip would be ur best bet. depending on how much u wanna spend, but a quantum energy PT would be a good choice. cost ya about 100 bucks. but great warrenty and great rod.
  7. they are 5 inches long. and they were 3.99 each according to my receipt. somethin is tellin me that the price tag on the rack was less then that though... check on it and check ur receipt if u go. but, of all the "senko" style baits ive used, i have the utmost confidence in the SK zeros. caught more fish on them then other brands. they are soft and supple but very durable. most other brands get torn to shreds after one fish, these ones last much longer. lots of salt and scent. just a great bait. gotta warn though, i cleaned out a few of the colors they had... lol.
  8. the mustad selection they had... didnt include any 5/0 hooks. which is the size i prefer. the ones i got are 6/0 tube hooks. last 2 packs they had on the rack. ill use them for more then just tubes though. i like the owner hooks, love the cutting point on them. bit more money but a great hook. only problem, one u nick a rock or somethin, the hook is crap. but they had 5/0 size so i grabbed a couple. the trokar hooks were cleaned out lol. only a few packs left and 2 styles of each. but with the amount i spent... didnt need to spend 12 bucks a pack on hooks. gotta love the lefty reels!! haha and i love crankbaits. i throw a lot of hardbaits during the year. and i like the strike king cranks, price was rite on them too.
  9. lol yea, was good to see ya bro! never ceases to amaze the wifey that no matter where we go.. i see at least one person i know. ive been banned from tackle stores now though... she said i bought too much today, and i was at fishing world friday for their sale taking advantage of some good deals. lol
  10. awesome ryan! they are so cute!! the pic of u holding the 3 of them... that is that FATTEST puppy i have ever seen! lol
  11. went to BPS today to check out the sale, and use up some gift cards from xmas. decided i would take advantage of the reel trade in and do 2 good things. i donated 2 reels to the trade in, and then spent money to help the economy. arent i a swell guy?! lol. plan was to get one new reel, and maybe a couple goodies. had my heart set on the quantum energy PT casting reel. but then though, if i spend less ill have more for tackle and goodies lol. so i went with the kinetic PT reel. really nice reel, and for 129 bucks, a cant go wrong deal! add the 25 bucks off and 75 bucks in gift cards and i walk away paying about 40 bucks. not freakin bad eh?? so then i gets to the tackle... well, sales will be the death of us all... i grabbed some strike king crankbaits.... then some berkley powerbaits... then some strike king zeros (love those things!) few packs of hooks and some weights. after gettin that stuff... i just couldnt shake this... craving i had... i still had a reel coupon in my pocket and surely couldnt let it go to waste... so back i goes to the reel department and picked up a new quantum kinetic spinning reel. wife was none to pleased with that one haha. but i have a few reels to sell, so it'll balance out.. or thats what i tell her anyways also picked up the berkley line spooling station. for 20 bucks, it was worth a try! besides, now the wifey cant complain that she has to hold a spool if line again for me! all in all, had a good time there, grabbed dinner in the mall, got to look around, kids had a blast! great way to spend a sunday!
  12. lol, the citica is 149.... the curado is 229. thats more then a "few bucks more" lol.
  13. if u guys have any old lead, painted or not... PM me and if ur in the hamilton area, ill gladly take them off ya. my buddy will recycle them and put them to good use and not in a dump someplace!
  14. go with the quantum energy PT. trade an old reel in and get 30 bucks off the reel. and its a great reel. if u wanna spend a little less, look at the quantum catalyst or kinetic PT reels. they are about 149 and 129 respectively and with a reel trade in u'll save 25 bucks on one of them. im goin today to get one, havent yet decided what one to get, was gonna get the energy, but may get one of the others to save some money to spend on tackle! lol the citica is a great reel. (that means a lot coming from me... i hate shimano lol, but i have 2 citica E's and they're great for the price.) but for the same price, or a little more, or a little less... u'll get a better reel with the quantum PT line.
  15. just talk to ur neighbor. express ur concerns for the fence, and ask if he would like to split the costs on a new one. if not, for whatever reason they may have, then just do it urself if u feel it should be replaced. we have lived next to our neighbors for 24 years, and we've put up 2 fences in that time. we split the costs for materials. the first time they did the labor, the second time we did the labor.
  16. thats an easy answer... a positive, fun attitude. a good camera to save ur memories and most importantly.... FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO SHARE THE TIMES WITH!
  17. the store is awesome. great place to spend a day wondering around. lots to look at. not really much in the lines of great deals. but some to be had if u keep ur eyes open. the spring classic is great, lots of deal, and the reel trade in is a wicked idea. the low stock they carry on lots of sale items is a pain though. they dont carry some products that they should. and one prime example is, quantum rods. they carry the reels, but they dont carry any quantum rods. which is kinda stupid. now, for the downside... as i seen someone point out. the customer service there is HORRIBLE! they dont know anythin about the products they sell there and they dont exactly, jump, at the chance to come assist a customer.
  18. lol yea, i;ve been on the ocean before. my uncle is a commercial fisherman down east. most people dont realize the difference between lake erie gettin rough, and the atlantic ocean getting rough! lol. ill be sure to make sure i do as im told! at least it was the end of the trip when ya turned green and not the start!
  19. seen the show last nite, it was awesome! u guys did a great job shooting that episode!! i have family in nova scotia, and i told them next time i come down, we're goin shark fishing!!
  20. it is illegal to keep game fish... however, a lot of people do. i have had a small bass in a tank, as well as a bluegill and a small gar pike. all are gone now. i have a 55gal tank now with a crayfish and 2 perch in it.
  21. are u using it for walleye from shore?
  22. agreed. spinning will be easier to work with. once u get a tangle with a spincast... may as well toss it in the bucket!
