  1. Some great pics limeyangler. I was up your way in the summer on a business/fishing trip. I actually stayed just outside of Sioux Lookout. You have an amazing fishery up there. So many lakes to chose from, I'm jealous. Anyways, you were asking about Flambeau Lake and if there were any fish in there. I was invited to go fishing out there by one of our customers but couldn't make it. Apparently there is lots of nice walleye in there. You can see it from right along the Trans Canada can't you, if it's the one I'm thinking of. Also, Pritchard rings a bell too. Good stuff
  2. Some great fish, congrats !!!
  3. Great post Lew, thanks for sharing that.
  4. Brian, I worked for GM for 20 years, does that qualify me to give an opinion ? Firstly on worked on the finance side where there was no union, so please don't start bashing me about the union stuff as you did a couple of years ago. As of the end of September, I received a severance package and am now unemployed. Do I blame the unions ...NO. The biggest thing that started this decline was the sub prime mortgage business in the US. Too many people were approved for homes they could not afford and now these homes have been foreclosed and are being sold for bargain basement prices. MANY companies and banks were guilty of this and are now paying the price. Did the big three cause gas prices to skyrocket this summer ? NO, This led to a quick shift in consumer demand away from trucks and sport utility vehices, something that the big three made their bread and butter on. Let's not forget the legacy costs these three companies have....I'll tell you what, in 20 years when folks start retiring from Honda, Toyota, they are gonna have these costs too, something they don't have right now. Don't get me wrong, there are alot of things that are wrong and need to be addressed with GM and the big three. Maybe with some government intervention this will wake them up. In all my years there, I always believed GM was a very reactive company and not proactive. However, to sit hear and say let em go down, is absolutely ridiculous. There are 250,000 people employed by GM in the US alone and millions of people working for the suppliers to GM. You think things are bad now, if they don't at least try to help them through this, you ain't seen nothing yet. How about the dealer network ? Do you think that letting Georgian or Paul Sadlon go out of business would be a good idea. Both are pretty active in the Barrie community from what I see. How about Edmonds ? Sirfish, I commend you on your post.
  5. Chickenhawk...... I`m Canadian and I get pumped about catching mid to high thirty inch pikies, got a few in my avatar ....and a couple of other big girls as well.
  6. I know it's not till Tuesday but I thought I would put this post up now. Some of you may remember these pics as this has kind of become an annual thing for me. My Dad was a WW II vet. He never talked about it much until the last few months before he died in August 2005. I miss him and my Mom of course at Christmas and on their birthdays but rememberance day is always a bit tougher, although it is getting easier each year. I am very proud of him to this day. These are some pics from one of his albums that I had scanned. I don't know the stories behind most of them. My dad was part of the Day plus 3 invasion and spent 2 years overseas. Here's a newspaper article from his hometown from 1944. My Dad drove a transport carrier. This picture I believe is from Belgium and is probably in the earlier time he was over there as he was still a private then. This is one of my Dad's buddies. I'm not sure what city it is in but you can see the Prisoner of War sign behind him. A couple of shot down aircraft.. I really like this shot....Dad on his Harley  His medals and badges which are proudly displayed in my cabinet. Our last time fishing together at Lovesick Lake in fall of 2004. God Bless Dad.

  9. LCD all the way. You probably can't wrong with Sony or Panasonic, but have a look at Toshiba. I bought one set in 1991 still have it and bought an LCD Toshiba a year ago and love it. Good luck. Jim

  11. Bly, great report You are a hardcore angler for sure. Another way to dry out your waders is to shove newspaper in them. It absorbs the water pretty good as well. Jim
  12. Hey Lew, I have the Garmin Nuvi 200 as well. If I knew you were looking at them, I would have shown you mine when I saw you a couple of weeks ago. You know all the travelling I did this year Lew, they are excellent. Jim
  13. Happy belated birthday Chris !!!
  14. Great thread. I'm fortunate that I have two fishing partners under the same roof so I usually have someone with me. However, when we go for our family fishing vacations, I usually like to go out in the early morning myself for a couple of hours. I just make sure all of my items are accessable, (ie cell phone, two way radio, etc..) and have my net, pliers, bolt cutters within a quick grab. When I am alone, I always wear my PFD. It just gives me a sense of extra comfort. I also tell my wife when to expect me in.
  15. Nice fish, congrats on your first ski !!
