  1. Wow, you have some serious talent with video editing I wonder if IGFA has a category for biggest fish on a barbie rod
  2. Sorry I forgot...:burp:
  3. I guess you didnt notice the heaps of rain and above zero weather forecasted down there this weekend Good luck if you find somewhere safe
  4. Saw someone go through on a 4wheeler on Quinte whose life was likely saved by someone nearby on foot tossing out a throw rope to him.
  5. First ice trout is tough to beat! Better late than never...6-8 feet in log jams "I should be able to park my sled on the ice no problems"... Set up a bunch of brookie boobie traps around this submerged tree where most of the fish came off of... The spoils...
  6. Wow, they must be nuts...ice is barely walkable on small lakes up here lol
  7. Manual, nice! I'd say that's still a fairly economical vehicle. Hopefully you don't mind having no space to store anything. Thought your ranger was jam packed for a weekend of fun? Haha
  8. Oof, that looks dicey. Going out tomorrow with a little more confidence this time.
  9. Nice going Simon. Were you fishing near a deep basin (watched without the audio)?
  10. ^^ that's actually quite common, more common than the main lake actually having good ice on opening day.
  11. Quick and productive is right! Enjoy the delicious eats coming your way!
  12. Ouch! Looks like Hally got hit with a good dumping too! Did you launch your boat with the bravo?
  13. Give me a break haha
  14. Great video compilation! Clearly you had a very successful season.
  15. Old bedliner is the easiest and cheapest way to go!! The carbides will also slide easier on bedliner than on wood
  16. Don't have to tell me twice! I'm on it haha
  17. Ice is bad everywhere. Couldn't find good ice today. Even most small lakes have basically no ice around here, worse than I thought. That huge dump of snow really screwed everything up.
  18. Like everyone else on this side of the continent, there was an astounding lack of snow, ice and general cold around here all december, with the vast majority of the month being above zero. Put the boat away in late November anticipating normal weather, which couldve waited a few more weeks. Despite that, we had some great trips burbot fishing at a local shore fishing hotspot on the Ottawa river. The generally mild nights made it easy to spend the night outside next to a fire hauling in chunky ling. The action wasn't as hot as ice-out last April/May, but the catching was consistent, and really picked up the week or so before christmas. For all the stink and slime they produce, they really are fantastic table fare, making it all worth it! Even had a little BoxLing day celebration and saved up a bunch of our meat for an epic fry to cap off the holidays! Fun as that was, the cold and the snow was a welcome sight over the last few days, and we finally have fishable ice on small lakes. No bites today, but it felt good to walk on water again...
  19. Yes, and you were one of the naysayers! Last year if I'm correct.
  20. Motorhead's music has been with me through it all since I was a little kid. He was the true rock n roll preacher, the real deal to the bone. 40 years of Motorhead, 20+ albums and not a bad song to be found. Still pretty upset over this, but the fact that he made it to 70 and was still touring around the world in the final months of his life after his health had already taken a few downturns should speak volumes about his character!
  21. Tekota is beyond overkill for trolling up eyes on inland lakes. Looks like a great setup you picked up there.
  22. RIP Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. Undisputably the god of rock n roll for me and a heavy metal trailblazer. Never had a musicians death hit me hard like this. Feels like losing an old friend...
  23. Had a great season. Picked up a new boat and moved into a new house. Spent lots of time exploring lots of new backlakes with great success with lakers, brookies, pike and eyes. Highlight for me was the few weeks of wrestling brookies and lakers on the fly rod in the spring in some amazingly beautiful locations close to home. Also, went on my first ever fly-in thru white river air, which was a very cool experience as well. But all that pales in comparison to my daughter being born this August.
  24. I'll be out somewhere around here on the 31st.
  25. Yep. Softer tread compound means better traction in cold weather regardless of whether or not there's ice or snow on the roads. I always used snowflake-rated a/t tires previously (general grabbers and duratracs) which were fairly effective, but this year I went to Hankook i-Pike rw-11's true winter tires and the difference is unreal.
