  1. I usually tell them to get lost just as fast as I do the door to door religion sellers. However I have not encountered the low cut shirt, yet. Heaven help you if you actually show them a utility bill they will copy or memorize your account number and switch you without your knowledge, and then you have to do all the work to get switched back. Give me the ole days with a 12 gage above the door and me saying “well we shoot every third salesperson and the second one just left”
  2. Start Business wants to cut costs Business searches for people in mud huts that work cheep Work is outsourced People in mud huts want aluminum siding, prices go up Go to Start The only winners, the aluminum siding sales people
  3. We've been feeding them for years. Mostly finches, sparrows, and yes a good group of morning doves and one fat black squirrel. I've put out some niger seed for the finches, some suet for whoever and the bird feeder with a mix of sunflower seeds and regular bird sees for the rest
  4. It’s not funny it’s hilarious, and sadly heralds an increasing trend
  5. Keswick went out at 3:30AM, nice bright flashes in the east, was still out at 6:30 when I headed into the salt mines. Seemed that Thornhill and Richmond Hill had gotten hit sometime in the night as my wireless network to Mississauga was loosing packets almost as fast as they could be sent. By 9AM the network was purring, hopefully Keswick too
  6. What goes down will come up eventually, at least that’s what my third wife told me Bad news yesterday. Alan Greenspan just can’t keep his mouth shut. This guy has had a string of bad economic calls so it’s a gloomy Greenspan versus a happy Ben Bernanke. And then the Taliban missed Cheney
  7. I’m so relieved that our government is looking out for us NOT At every conceivable opportunity we have been screwed at the pump. Any excuse whatsoever and up go the prices
  8. and this morning I read a report that Canada should ditch the penny, but that the US is to conservative to go that route. Now if the US would come out with a $5 coin maybe Canada would follow heads I win tails you loose
  9. I was 63 last year, grey hair (what's left) and all that, but I got carded in some airport bar. They said they carded everyone, no chance of anyone yelling discrimination here.
  10. I wouldn't exactly call Rogers a monopoly, a rip off yes. An uncaring business beast, yes. But there’s always the satellite providers, Bell Express View etc. Don’t know how good/bad they are.
  11. Jail time, a good fine, and restitution or perhaps maybe gulag
  12. Mike, like you I made the loose weight resolution. Now with type 2 diabetes riding my back I have no choice. After two weeks blood sugar is normal and I’m down a few pounds. Working on the treadmill 20-30 minutes most days helps. Oddly I feel better than I have in years. Due to the med’s I have to limit the beer and wine. In researching this disease I found that there are a lot of things that can be eaten, in Moderation. I can’t chow down half a pizza and a six pack, but I can have a piece or two and a light beer. So this is a resolution that has morphed into a lifestyle change, but consider the alternates……………
  13. Hey, another Texan. What part of the state do you hail from. 10 years ago I lived on L Arrowhead near Henrietta
  14. I had the feeling cruddy feeling 2 days ago. Stayed home yesterday, made friends with the washroom. I can sympathize with Garyv as I got DX two weeks ago with type 2 diabetes. The combination of the Metformin and the crud just doubles your "pleasure", aka throne time. Only good news is my blood sugar has come down to normal, but I could kill for a pizza and beer. Now I have to watch for the reverse effect of the drugs/diet, hypoglycemia. The other bit of good news, they tell me, is of the major diseases at least this one is controllable. Oh well maybe I'll just eat some sawdust, no carbs and it might just form a cork
  15. One Maine Coon Cat, Barney. Rescued from an animal shelter in Vernon TX a dozen years ago, now a happy Canadian cat. Somewhere inbetween there was a cross species malfunction and he thinks he's now a cow
  16. That is a genuine hoot, still laughing, and believe me I needed a good laugh
  17. -24 in Keswick this morning. That should put the freeze on Cooks
  18. I've been to the islands you are going to. Got the cruise bug years ago. I have seen some pic's of the beach at the end of the runway and it looks like you can reach up and grab a wheel as the planes come in. Watch how they calculate tips, some just add it to your bill at the end. The ships are cashless so you will get a bill on the last day, charged to your credit card, and if you don't watch it it will be a whopper. I will say one thing, you will love it. If you get the bug the best way to beat the prices is book early. We book at least a year in advance, get 2 for 1 fares and free air. Use a good TA and remember that the prices are whatever the market will bear. So don't be surprised if they jump around, your TA can help there. If you think you might like something with more interesting stops and a little smaller ships try Oceania 2005 Barcelona - Venice 2006 Dover - St Petersburg 2007 Istanbul - Athens (4 months to go) 2008 Sydney - Auckland
  19. Now if Buzz had eroded a few years ago maybe the industry would be in better shape. You can't continue to pay those wages and bennies, produce mismarketed overpriced crap, and still stay in business. You either compete, in business, or you die. Simple I'm sorry to say, Buzz, you ain't got 15 to 20 years. Wake up I know it's not all Buzz's fault but he sure is a big part of the problem and no where to be found in the solution
  20. Loads a little slow, but nice job. As you said WIP, the links at the bottom do not work, i.e. Lost Lake Lodge, but the baloon link works fine
  21. if only it were true..................
  22. to much ammo to much time idiots ( wanna guess who paid for the ammo)
  23. Awsome pic's, reminds me of the good old days. USS Parle and USS Daniel A Joy. They were both the flagships of the, now get this, Great Lakes fleet. WW2 DE's 1500 tons 300 ft long. The "fleet" consisted of one of them, a few mine sweepers and believe it or not a sub. Parle was the last US Navy ship stationed in the lakes. Homeported out of Detroit. I saw some rough weather on Erie and Ontario but nothing like the pictures. Worse I ever saw was off Hatteras when the Parle took a 45 degree roll. The old hands said that she'd go to 55 degrees and still come back but I would not want to see that. Talk about walking on the bulkheads and some soiled skivvies thanks for the pic's
  24. 40 minute commute turned out to be about an hour. Keswick to Richmond Hill. Stayed off the 404 but it didn't look to bad. Snow in Keswick, freezing rain in Richmond Hill. I'm not looking forward to the trip home
  25. Why does it seem that we get these things on a Sunday. Just makes the Monday morning slog to the workhouse all that more enjoyable. Only a dusting here in Keswick right now BUT it looks to a good 2 weeks of below freezing temps. Maybe that will ice over Cooks
