    Are we talking open water trout or inland stream trout? Setups for both are pretty different (At least in my books)

    Ice doesn't melt magically, lol. Shore line is the issue, 20+ inches of ice takes quite a bit of time to melt. You won't find me out there anymore this year however.

    I need to drop another battery into parallel with my starting battery (As I run all the electronics off it) Getting low input voltage when starting the big motor on the bowmount and the console finder.

    Running outside the channels in Gbay is like playing Russian Roulette. From 100ft to 1ft in a matter of feet. Gotta love it! I've got a couple of new spring pike spots that require long runs. that should be interesting

    Lots of charts available for Gbay, make sure you pick up the latest Navionics for the units you're going to run on the new rig.

    Like Brian said, main lake should be fine, it's just getting onto the ice that's the problem.

    Weather and rocks. Gbay always has some surprises. Plan your routes, go slow. Once you learn a few things then you can bomb around doing 50mph and using all that fuel

    Yeah looking forward to the southern shore of Lake O! Time to watch those temp charts now, lol.

    Yeah seems like the main lake will most likely still be ok (I think I saw like 25inches out there) but the accesses near shore are going to hold people back. Ah well, time to dust off the boat and steelhead gear.

    January was on fire out on Simcoe. Probably one of the best seasons for lakers/whitefish in a long time.
