I am also a big fan of Gander Mountaiwe have one about 1/2 hr away in Niagara Falls, NY. About half the driving distance to Bass pro Toronto - only bummer is bringing it across the border & duty great selection, great service & not jacked up prices, & some good "bin deals" they had some "proven" muskie baits real cheap there last spring & they also carry everything I need for great Lakes trolling
-
Shimano TDR excellent all-round rod comes in different lengths & actions & a great price/warranty I Dont totally see the need to spend big dollars on trolling rods - your seeing the hits in the hold holder, not feeling or detecting 'em by touch. I would rather spend the extra on a solid reel with a really good drag system & high retrieve ratio (that Sealine is a good choice!) the only time I would spend a little more on a trolling rod is when pulling divers for salmon - those Talora's are the catts ass apparently. Also dont buy cork, ya they look nicer, but its not neccessary

I cant wait any longer - getting my boat out this weekend!
-
I am with Roger, Sugarloaf has a nice launch. So does Port Dalhousie - 4 ramps, 2 in, 2 out, all concrete, long floating docks, lotsa free & fairly secure parking - its gotta be among the best ramps in Ontario

Well our honeymoon was a "fishing-moon" in Kirkland Lake - not a bad way to spen your first week together huh? Every so often i can get Andrea to come along with me - I took her out to a local mud puddle last summer & she whupped me using a float & worm while i pitched artificals looking for the big one really wanna get her on a leaping/screaming salmon this spring - dunno if it'll scare her sh*tless or if she's gonna wanna come out every time afterwards? -
dpends on the waterbody I am fishing I fish the Kawartha's a fair bit & as we know, sometimes it can be tough, other times not... so I am pretty slective up there - but if I am entertainig guests & we're joensing for a shorelunch i'll give the eyes a break & keep some small bass (when in season) or crappies & give'em a break But if I am fortunate enough to limit out on a fishery like Erie or Nippissing ( not very hard these days) i'll definetly take home my legal amount because that waterbody can handle it nothing wrong at all with a legal limit of walleye (pickeral!)- its all about personal preference & respect for the waterbody

Ice is better to have earlier then later Roger. In many areas next week, seasons close & permament huts have to come off. Ive only been on the ice a handful of times this winter - this weekend I'll be finding an open launch & putting the boat in

Well I cant help but be a bit biased. Some are born Catholics, others Protestants... I was born into a GM family. Currently driving a '05 Jimmy & am very happy with it 30,000km in. My wife however work for Toyota & I gotta admitt, those Tundras are sweet. Apparently they cant be kept on the yard long enough to ask for a test drive...do i dare cross the final frontier and own an import?? i dunno.... I'd hate to be written out of my father's will

i dont know FF the fella i worked with had been in the industry for 25+ yrs he said it didnt matter the matterial or colour he also told me never to get carpet proffesionally cleaned all at once - reason being thatwhen you do, the manufacturers protectent would get removed - instead he said to "spot clean" - this is only what ive been told, not my own own personal theory
-
Jeff - do yourself a favour & get the 10mm or greater underpad - i briefly was in the industry - too many cheaped out with the 8, - it does make a difference another thing i learned - limit going barefoot on the carpet - oils from feet ruin it in a coupla months

havent been to a live Leafs game since '95 at the good 'ol Gardens no real desire to go to a game either (unless free tickets fell in my lap) leafs need to rebuild & start from the beginning - Detroit was weak for a few years... then they got Fedorov, Lindstrom... ect in there system, built around Yzerman & boom a constant contender & 3 Cups same thing with Jersey, Colorado/Quebec, Ottawa & now Pittsburgh, Nashville, Buffalo - you gotta take your lumps for a few years... keep just a coupla leaders/veterans & build around & develop the system

Hit Quinte a few times this past fall (& winter) first trip in October I set a new PB 11.5lbs went again in mid Nov, a fewnice ones, but nothing over 10.... but with the cancellation of an early Jan. ice trip we went back & I upped my PB a few more ounces does this photo look like it was taken on Jan 6? I really enjoy Quinte - it treats me well -
is this gonna qualify for someone to use this as an excuse for gas price increase?
-
boss called - told me to stay home so I am gonna scoot over to Canadian Tire, then grab a coffee &hibernate in my garage this afternoon
-
oliers had to do what they had to do look at it this way... they coulda maybe made the plaoffs... maybe won a game or two before being knocked out & lost Smyth & got nothing in return... they now have some good young assets & still COULD resign Ryan... give it time leafs - well Perrault is good - i like him , but they shoulda traded a coupla $$'s away for prospects & picks - the only way this team will ever make any progress LOOK OUT FOR PITTSBURGH IF FLEURY BECOMES A WALL THEY COULD MAKE A SERIOUS RUN! They added some protection & grit for the young guns!

What's Your Ice Fishing Season Been Like?
fishdawg replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
ive only been able to get out a coupla times so far... no skunk either... but no "banner days" either just havent had the time this year - others ive talked to have done well for the most part - very anxiously waiting for the boat ramps to thaw out in a week or too -
what Terry said!
-
well done! I think thats the same bungalow we were in last year (ours also had canned Keiths under the bed!)
-
very nice Art! now bolt some downriggers on that stern & c'mon up this way for salmon in a coupla months!
-
lots up in the air - nothing in "stone" yet - still planning a coupla trips to new spots- sadly time will not allow a Lakair trip this season this softwater season is gonna be devoted mostly to trolling the great lakes locally for salmon, trout, walleye & jigging up some smallies. Hopefully some trips to the trailer in the Kawartha's thrown in to raise a few muskies as well.
-
agreed!!! All of my horses have had there turn to win in the last 3 (8, 24, 48) if none of them take the flag, I just hope its another Chev! hmmm.. why not Clint Boywer?
