  1. been a coupla months since we last a saw post like this... nonetheless, I love my beer. Lately I have been with the DanC programe been drinking Brava the last coupla months - a good summer beer put out by Lakeport McLays is good as well as is Laker & Lakeport Red are both decent & a fave lager of mine Alberta's Best (another buck'a beer) when I am in the pub & drinking draft I treat myself and have Keiths, Creemore or Kilkenny
  2. for walleyes i usually just snap the knecks & then put on ice or in cold water after pictures have been taken for softer fleshed fish like trout or salmon, I remove the gills & slit the throat - actually most of the time while im trout/salmon trolling, if there is a few minutes between fish being caught, i'll quickly clean them on board - belly slit open, head, blood & entrails removed, a quick rinse in the lake and now i dont have to clean fish when i get home in the fridge/freezer or straight on the BBQ
  3. guess Joeys happy
  4. Curado - no doubt and I have actually herd good things about BPS's line of rods/reel (maybe Justin will see this thread) I have 3 of their rods & love 'em
  5. Ive tried many different fish dishes in my time and Ive come to the conclussion that different species taste better when prepared best to compliment their flesh qualities. BBQ'd salmon mmmm.... fresh fried perch/eyes/pike mmmmmm cajun catfish mmm..... cold smoked whitefish mmmm..... its Alllllll GOOD side note I once ate a legal (season & size) muskie due to profuse bleeding - i fried some of the fillets & BBQ'd some steaks they both tasted quite good as well.... but I would never specifically target a muskie for the table
  6. Ive got 2, well maybe 3 i guess SW section of Lake Ontario - been fishing since ive been 5 & it holds many species & lots of trophy potential & there is lotsa water to share with everyone and ive got a handful of launches to choose from within 20 mintues or so Kawartha Tri-Lakes - have a trailer up there & have been gaining much confidence up there for most species Bay Of Quinte ( can count it as Lake O if you want) - never had a walleye skunk there in all my trips (spring or fall) and have broken and reset a few Pbs there - havent made any trips yet specifically for bass or pike, but plan to someday
  7. dont "torpedo release" that one Rich congrats on the safe arrival 3 more months for us!
  8. Johnny, my boat is only a 16.5 30hp tiller - yours is nearly the same? Ive been fishing the Great lakes since I was 7, just gotta respect the water & know what days to stay home & wok on the honey-do-list - no need for downriggers either, yes they are effective, but securely install some good rod holders & good salmon action can be had with other techniques
  9. will be in touch with you John
  10. very nice! Lloyd has put quite a few OFC'rs on some good fish the past coupla seasons
  11. Rich...... MARRIED?????
  12. Hey folks hope your all having a good safe season thus far. Ive been keeping quite busy, havent been around here too much. As a few know, my wife & I are expecting our first child in October (its a boy! ) so ive been busy chipping away at the never ending "list". Sorry i couldnt make Lakair this year, ive enjoyed the reports from it & almost felt like i was there. Thought I'd give ya peek of some of my on-the-water adventures from the past few months. Spring was ok... a few lakers & browns to start things off my best brown of this year - I was solo witha dispoable camera, so excuse the bad photo - this fish was only 25" long, but its girth was 20" it spat out lots of bait too when brought in the boat - PIG finally the salmon turned on - was able to get a buddy his 1st one ever (excuse the blood, those who fish salmon know its common) and dad got his 1st in many years couple of my best thus far there's been some acrobatic rainbows thrown in too - lotsa fun on the lighter gear I took a short hiatus from the big water & went up to our place in the Kawarthas for muskie opener, only one small one, but was pleasently suprised with the good walleye action but I rbought the boat back home with me and I am not sure when i'll be back up there...... been on Erie a coupla times recently & managed some eyes too this past weekend was special, through the power of the internet, I was able to re-connect with an old highschool fishing buddy & we got out for the 1st time in about 7 yrs & grabbed a couple the big Summer Salmon hunt begins this weekend & i'll be giving the east end of the lake a try have a safe summer everyone,
  13. great report, photos (and sweater!) Dan - thanks for sharing
  14. stringers arent reccomended for fish to be later released and those chains, strings, ect.... actually are not to be passed through the gills, but through the lower jaw
  15. nice bronzie Rich - nothing wrong with one for the pan at all
  16. what would make a 3lb Atlantic more edible then a 3lb Coho? I agree the At;antics are a waste of time. Bows, browns, cohos & chinnooks please & thank you!
  17. still waiting for some rain to head this way.....
  18. lol Hey Roy nice ____
  19. top shelf!
  20. look for marinedoctors website - very helpful
  21. I voted #3 I do enjoy eating fish very much, but I do release the majority of what i catch. Lake O is where I fish quite often and it is a put & take fishery that our tax dollars pay for. I dont feel bad at all taking home a couple small salmon or trout each trip, especially if they hooked deep.
  22. thanks for sharing Snady ... hoping all all is well with the 3 of ya
  23. I made my 1st Lakair trip last year with John (buoybenson) & really enjoyed it. Sadly I cant make it this year... only so much vacation & theres lotsa of other waters I want to explore however I have yet to use to my free weekend up there that Kevin & Leslie donated to the draw last year, so a return trip is still on the horizon. Heres some random photos from last years trip. Keep the fire going & the drinks cold my friends... enjoy & be safe. Roger (Rizzo) had to leave early - TJ wouldnt allow it! lol
  24. I fish nearly once a week all year for whatevers around.... the last couple of seasons my focus has mainly been trolling the Great Lakes for salmon, trout & walleyes - though I do still make the odd venture to our place in the kawarthas for bass/muskie/eyes i do enjoy a good feed of perch too as well throughout the callander as well
  25. they just made it official any thoughts Brian?
