hmmm thats tough - with all lakes closed now I'd be suprised if any area shops were open.... guys like Smokey & Jer live in the area, & could probably have an accurate answer for ya?
one spring when i was 18, I was fishing in the Kawarthas in my little tinny. The winds kicked up & swept me onto a rocky shoal & a pin broke on my old outboard (as a result i cold not get my motor out of neutral)
I took refuge in someones un-locked boathouse ( they werent there) untill the winds died down & i was able to use my little electric motor to get back. (luckily i wasnt too far from my dock)
I didnt have any cash on me so i just scratched out a little note & left it for the owner saying thanks.
The un-official start of a new season. Lotsa changes this year. A coupla new cars coming in (Toyota, COT), a new driver, new points structure...... should be interesting.
Hope that Junior & the step-monster reach a settlement..... will Jimmy repeat!?
how 'bout it y'all... any takes on whats ahead for '07?
I try to make the most of winter, but we havent been skiing yet, & Ive only been on the ice twice so far. Really got bit by the trolling bug last year, so I am hoping for an early spring to cure my infection!
Sure am looking forward to some more of this!
i keep my card in my wallet & a photocopy in my my boat, as well as another photocopy in my trailer up north
though im almost never without my card , i figure if i ever am, the photocopy will do in a pinch & show that I made an honest attempt to have some proof aboard with me - though I have never been ckecked for a license ever in my 7 yrs of having to possess one
Wrong Eagle lake there Peter ( there's 4-5 of them in Ontario)
fg28, i fished the Eagle your talking about 12 yrs ago - like most lakes in the area it has lotsa scrappy smallies, some perch, used to have a half decent population of trout, but I have herd that pike have recently found there way in that lake soo its now mainly smallies & pike - good luck
I like a wide variety of music but I love classic rock best
The Who, Stones, The Hip, Guess Who, Tom Cochrane, Neil Young, Rush, Kim Mitchel, U2 ( lotsa Canadian acts in there huh?)
For sure! I dunno what it is, but I love my icefishing - like Terry it said , for almost all of the province for a coupla months, its the only game in town
as other have touched on, ice fishing can more of a social thing. I find people (complete strangers) are much more friendlier this time of year.
Gotta love a hot coffee in the portable hut & soft hypnotic hummming of the Vex & perch on the floor
thanks for sharing - Rob runs a great outfit & I have enjoyed previous trips out tha way
side note - a pal of mine landed a 20lb + pike outta Nip on a ultra-light outfit & 3lb test last weekend - just takes a little patience
