  1. Give it 10 years and you will see a lot of these on the water. I guarantee it. Unlimited tourque and the total lack of need for you to drive 400km per trip will allow for them to find the sweet spot between weight and power. Just like lawn equipment, boat motors will soon be going electric too.
  2. This is the problem with the trades right now, they pay so well but everyone wants to start their own business and get rich. The problem is that running a business and doing the trades are two very very different things.
  3. a wise man once said, a good tradesman is worth waiting for lol
  4. this is quite literally my brother in laws favourite meal. He doesnt hunt but hes lucky enough that his uncles throw him a few jars a year. He saves them for special occasions.
  5. I’d build the stove into the side of the house then. That’s what my cousin did for his “sauna” he lives off grid. Saved him floor space and allowed for him to build his chimney out easily. Basically the stove was in a box on the side of the house.
  6. Exactly. This stuff always happens as the next gen is about to be released. As far as I’m concerned If you can stay 100% up to date with the latest and greatest when it comes to electronics in the fishing industry than you’ve got some seriously deep pockets. livescope is the top of the chain in marine electronics and that unit is equipped for it. That’s good enough for me!
  7. im excited just to get the package in the mail and have a project for the boat for the winter in my new garage 😁
  8. its $999 at sail and if you are with rakuten you get an additional 10% off! thats what I did!
  9. thats exactly why they do it. And exactly why garmin and Lowrance came out with their own trolling motors. They are expensive as hell, but they took all of the newest available tech and threw them into their units. Im excited to try the force out, apparently its incredible...i guess we will know this year. Brushless, wireless. I mean when you think about how humminbird refused to go with the wireless tech so that they can sell you networking cables, ok so you dont have to pay for that with garmin...but you pay more for the tech up front. Wireless linking in 2020 seems like a no brainer though at this point.
  10. I would argue that humminbird’s side and down imaging with the mega + is definitely better. But I would also argue that Garmin with the touch screen and menus is a better system. navigation...I’ve been seeing some very troubling wonky stuff with humminbirds lately. I’m not sure what’s going on but the gps calibration seems off. Weird weird stuff. the real winner though is livescope. I haven’t bought it yet but am now ready to. Once you see livescope...phh it’s not even comparable. Humminbird just announced they are launching their own version in 2021 but there’s no way someone’s first version will run as well as another company that’s been doing it for years. finally, the main reason for the switch is I’m done with Johnson controls and their garbage trolling motors it was time for a switch and I’m putting my faith in someone else. Hopefully they don’t let me down. The industry exclusive wireless linking between units and trolling motors is untouched in the industry still. That’s absolutely massive.
  11. Johnson controls and minkotta is another company and a whole other story to talk about...I finally gave up on them this year after breaking 4 trolling motors in 3 years. Then you talk to what seems like at least 50% of ultrex owners and the steering cable issues with them it’s embarrassing. im hoping the ridiculous amount of money I’ve spent on a new Garmin troller will at least hold up
  12. sail had the 95sv on for $999 down from $1499 i couldn’t find it cheaper at any other retailer. also rakuten had a 10% cash back bonus on items purchased online from sail so I pulled the trigger on getting a Garmin force and got $400 back black friday ain’t what it used to be but there were some great deals I saw you just had to dig hard. the perfect jig also had some fantastic deals on tungsten. Rah fish was absolutely blowing out their inventory. They had touques for like $5 or something im sure these deals are still here for cyber Monday. Look to the manufacturers rather than the retailers for deals on tackle. you won’t find great deals on non high end tackle because prices are set and the markup isn’t as high.
  13. i brought this up here To me it was clear that B1 didnt take every measure necessary to ensure the mortality rates at its tournament remained low. Especially at a tournament on the st lawrence where the smallies are being caught deep and its hot out. Even worse to hear that they threw the fish in bags into the trash. I know some locals were absolutely livid about what happened here. As much as people like to say that it wouldnt have an impact on a fishery, but killing 100's of the absolute biggest bass in a stretch of water over the course of a weekend does horrific things to a fishery. All it takes is for you to read 1 thread on any bass forum to realize that even treatment of fish in a livewell is totally subjective. Some guys throw their livewell on recirculate all day and hope for the best. Truthfully it somewhat blows my mind because mortality penalties in tournaments are so severe, but the twisted logic some guys have about fish care is terrible at best. At the end of the day its no different than fishing musky on light tackle, or snagging salmon and trout in rivers. Same crowds same result.
  14. only a guy like dave catches 29lbs of smallmouth and says "we never really peaked" lmao unreal bag guys
  15. if you are ever in mexico, cuba or even australia...all you will see is yamahas. The mexicans and cubans cant deal with their outboards breaking. My family in the past 6 years has owned a johnson, a mercury, a suzuki and 2 yamaha outboards. The Johnson is dead, the mercury is in the shop as we speak the suzuki and two yamahas havent had a single issue. My 2 stroke yamaha is a 98, bone stock...perfect compression, doesnt smoke much and starts easily.
  16. No surprisingly it doesnt bleach their fur at all. I guess it has to do with the concentration level. Standard peroxide you buy from shoppers drug mart isnt strong enough to bleach anything. The show Mythbusters broke down the science of skunk spray and why the mixture works so well. Basically the simple science is that the peroxide baking soda combination breaks down the three "thiol" compounds and converts them into a "sodium chloride" (aka salt) compound which obviously then can be washed away with dish soap and water. I cant find the scientific breakdown of the chemistry but I showed it to my old man (a chemist as you already know) when explaining how it was done and he said, yup that makes total sense. Only tough part with the pups is that you dont want to get the formula in their eyes. So my pupper still had a bit of smell when you got really close to his face with yours because I am certain and bit of that thiol compound was still hanging out around his eyes. The stuff is actually pretty incredible because its so oily it doesnt break down at all. It just lingers on their fur and any other object that they come into contact with.
  17. That’s going to grow. From my agent who works toronto, last October 4200 units moved in October, this year 200 total... the market has already collapsed entirely
  18. I wouldn’t buy an evinrude even before they went out of business...there’s a reason they did
  19. Peroxide, baking soda and Dawn dish soap! My pup walks in toronto with me off leash. Forest hill is full of skunks. One year he set his personal best record by getting sprayed 4 times lol needless to say I started being far more aware of the smell of skunks when I was walking.
  20. This exact scenario is playing out with my friends dad right now. He is in the hospital very very sick and his family is not able to see him. He has been alone for two weeks with organs failing him and only one person every two days can see him for 3 hours. and with the new lockdown he may be totally cut off.
  21. my parents bought a new house that closed on Monday...they didnt have power until Wednesday night if you can believe that. Killbear park got absolutely hammered with wind. All sorts of trees down everywhere. luckily no damage to their new house. My old man was scrambling to get a generator running though to make sure the pipes didnt burst in his new home!
  22. For anyone reading the 99.4 recovery rate post, please refer to the screenshot of the Ontario epidemiology summary conveniently posted in my post above. The 99+% survival rate is a 100% incorrect figure that was developed most likely by Russian bots. the real figure is reported weekly and as you can see it is actually 3.5% lethal in confirmed cases. I felt like I needed to clarify that to avoid the spread of mis-information
