  1. this is what makes chuckle...one person in this thread commented, well i dont need power and hole shot, i drive my boat around slowly all day...an electric motor cant do that 😬
  2. Tesla has to keep the price low for the purpose of proof of concept. The first generation owners get a discount because Tesla needs people to go and take their truck and drive it and show everyone that holy cow an electric pickup truck is a real thing and that it works and does the things that most pickup trucks can do if not better? Heck anything at this point would be better than my ram which is in the shop once again... When gas prices inevitably hit 1.30 a litre again in 2022 when the economy is booming like its post ww2 with the pandemic over will the V8 drivers that front their own gas bills be thinking that not paying that gas bill is such a crazy idea? Everyone seemingly in this thread is exactly the reason Tesla has to eat cost to launch its vehicles. Without a belief in the technology and proof of concept you are never going to convert the gas guzzling pick up truck driver. Why do you think tesla has invested such absurd amounts of money installing their super chargers everywhere? Critical mass is literally the biggest challenge that the electric vehicle faces. Whats incredible is that Tesla is pulling it off it just has failed to convert everyone yet. Cars were the first and most common sense market to tackle. Trucks, planes, ATV's etc etc are whats next. Much like outdoor power equipment, the conversion is swift once the proof of concept is proven in the market. Take a poll of how many people would buy a gas vs electric auger for ice fishing if they had the budget for it? 10 years ago this wasnt even on anyone's radar. Ill also mention that Tesla's ability to get 650,000 people to give them $150 for something that doesnt even exist yet, nor will it exist for many more years is far different than a deposit on an item that you will get in short turn. Im not even a "tesla freak" some people are obsessed with elon musk and all that he does, im a 2 stroke outboard driving, diesel truck owning dude with a 2 stroke snowmobile and gas auger! I just like many others (including a hell of a lot of people that buy stocks apparently) think that Tesla is on to something. They are making something that seemed futuristic, impossible, paradigm shifting and game changing right before our eyes. Youd never seen an electric car on the roads 10 years ago...my my how things have changed...in a very very short amount of time.
  3. How do we submit our orders for those egg patterns?
  4. I swear to god that Minkotta and Johnson controls have switched their manufacturing facilities in the past 10 years. The old powerdrives and fortrexes were basically ready to use for close to 20 years...now you are lucky to have one that lasts 5. Heck every single person i know thats bought an ultrex has had it fail and they have only been out a total of 3 years now...
  5. nothing "wealthy family" about a $69,000 pick up when dodge is trying to sell 1500's for 79k now and chevys are 100k and give your head a shake...you are talking about the boating industry in this thread lol...think about what you are saying.
  6. I’m shocked you don’t like the interior. I absolutely love it. And yup I don’t want it to be delivered for a few years my current truck only has 130k on it at the moment. your comment about fast? The ones I got to ride in were the fastest cars I’d ever been in. The amount of tourque off of the line was absolutely insane.
  7. I’ve already got my order in for a cyber truck and go for a ride in a Tesla, I’ll assure you it’s more of a 80-100k car than a Dodge Ram rebel is that’s for damn sure lol
  8. lmao you guys are now coming up with conspiracy theories to debunk an electric motor that doesnt exist yet? I guess Tesla's have secret two stroke motors running them too lol The richest part about this entire debate is the fact that all of us already have 3-4 giant lead batteries in our boats already, yet were debating whether putting batteries in your boat is a good idea hahaha. What do people want from outboards? holeshot and top end. Guess what electric engines have? Basically unlimited tourque, no power band and a hypothetical unlimited top end. What do boats also do? travel in very relatively short distances. No one drives their boat 300km in a single day unless its a very very weird circumstance. If you have somehow convinced yourself that no one is going to attempt to embrace these facts then you probably also think tesla is going to go out of business lol.
  9. Pointe au baril skimmed over last night
  10. you need to speak to Dave Chong about this. He was showing off the shading relief this summer. If its something you are interested in it may be worth the money.
  11. Give it 10 years and you will see a lot of these on the water. I guarantee it. Unlimited tourque and the total lack of need for you to drive 400km per trip will allow for them to find the sweet spot between weight and power. Just like lawn equipment, boat motors will soon be going electric too.
  12. This is the problem with the trades right now, they pay so well but everyone wants to start their own business and get rich. The problem is that running a business and doing the trades are two very very different things.
  13. a wise man once said, a good tradesman is worth waiting for lol
  14. this is quite literally my brother in laws favourite meal. He doesnt hunt but hes lucky enough that his uncles throw him a few jars a year. He saves them for special occasions.
  15. I’d build the stove into the side of the house then. That’s what my cousin did for his “sauna” he lives off grid. Saved him floor space and allowed for him to build his chimney out easily. Basically the stove was in a box on the side of the house.
  16. Exactly. This stuff always happens as the next gen is about to be released. As far as I’m concerned If you can stay 100% up to date with the latest and greatest when it comes to electronics in the fishing industry than you’ve got some seriously deep pockets. livescope is the top of the chain in marine electronics and that unit is equipped for it. That’s good enough for me!
  17. im excited just to get the package in the mail and have a project for the boat for the winter in my new garage 😁
  18. its $999 at sail and if you are with rakuten you get an additional 10% off! thats what I did!
  19. thats exactly why they do it. And exactly why garmin and Lowrance came out with their own trolling motors. They are expensive as hell, but they took all of the newest available tech and threw them into their units. Im excited to try the force out, apparently its incredible...i guess we will know this year. Brushless, wireless. I mean when you think about how humminbird refused to go with the wireless tech so that they can sell you networking cables, ok so you dont have to pay for that with garmin...but you pay more for the tech up front. Wireless linking in 2020 seems like a no brainer though at this point.
  20. I would argue that humminbird’s side and down imaging with the mega + is definitely better. But I would also argue that Garmin with the touch screen and menus is a better system. navigation...I’ve been seeing some very troubling wonky stuff with humminbirds lately. I’m not sure what’s going on but the gps calibration seems off. Weird weird stuff. the real winner though is livescope. I haven’t bought it yet but am now ready to. Once you see livescope...phh it’s not even comparable. Humminbird just announced they are launching their own version in 2021 but there’s no way someone’s first version will run as well as another company that’s been doing it for years. finally, the main reason for the switch is I’m done with Johnson controls and their garbage trolling motors it was time for a switch and I’m putting my faith in someone else. Hopefully they don’t let me down. The industry exclusive wireless linking between units and trolling motors is untouched in the industry still. That’s absolutely massive.
  21. Johnson controls and minkotta is another company and a whole other story to talk about...I finally gave up on them this year after breaking 4 trolling motors in 3 years. Then you talk to what seems like at least 50% of ultrex owners and the steering cable issues with them it’s embarrassing. im hoping the ridiculous amount of money I’ve spent on a new Garmin troller will at least hold up
  22. sail had the 95sv on for $999 down from $1499 i couldn’t find it cheaper at any other retailer. also rakuten had a 10% cash back bonus on items purchased online from sail so I pulled the trigger on getting a Garmin force and got $400 back black friday ain’t what it used to be but there were some great deals I saw you just had to dig hard. the perfect jig also had some fantastic deals on tungsten. Rah fish was absolutely blowing out their inventory. They had touques for like $5 or something im sure these deals are still here for cyber Monday. Look to the manufacturers rather than the retailers for deals on tackle. you won’t find great deals on non high end tackle because prices are set and the markup isn’t as high.
  23. i brought this up here To me it was clear that B1 didnt take every measure necessary to ensure the mortality rates at its tournament remained low. Especially at a tournament on the st lawrence where the smallies are being caught deep and its hot out. Even worse to hear that they threw the fish in bags into the trash. I know some locals were absolutely livid about what happened here. As much as people like to say that it wouldnt have an impact on a fishery, but killing 100's of the absolute biggest bass in a stretch of water over the course of a weekend does horrific things to a fishery. All it takes is for you to read 1 thread on any bass forum to realize that even treatment of fish in a livewell is totally subjective. Some guys throw their livewell on recirculate all day and hope for the best. Truthfully it somewhat blows my mind because mortality penalties in tournaments are so severe, but the twisted logic some guys have about fish care is terrible at best. At the end of the day its no different than fishing musky on light tackle, or snagging salmon and trout in rivers. Same crowds same result.
  24. im there for sure!
