  1. During CBC’s market minute yesterday they were talking about how the bank of canada believes that there is close to 700? (I think that was the number) million dollars quite literally sitting in people’s bank accounts across canada at the moment. It shattered whatever the previous record was by an absolute mile. as described above...and I would consider myself in this group as are many others that are lucky to have not been laid off...I have more money in my bank account then I think I have ever had since I was saving to buy a house. Staying home for a year and not going on any vacations at all or travelling around much to fish has basically slowly filled up my bank account. By far the biggest part of this is the complete collapse of the tourism industry. All of that money is now being flooded somewhere else. its mind blowing to me that I can sell my boat now 3 years later for about 175% of what I paid for it. I notice that cheaper used boats by far are the most inflated and it’s because they are obviously the most affordable. if you have a fishing ready totallt seaworthy used boat that is in top shape regardless of how old it is (like my boat) then you are going to be paying absolute premium pricing for it. The floor has moved way way up.
  2. https://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glcfs.php?lake=l&ext=wv&type=F&hr=11 waves up to 30 foot hitting long point tonight...there’s only 30 feet of water off of port burwell? This may change the lake forever. Not good, not good at all.
  3. one of those objects has absolutely nothing to do with a gun ban 😆
  4. Id be ok with fees if they actually meant something. Thats the problem in my eyes. If higher fees actually meant less dangerous A holes on our waterways then there would be some substance to it.
  5. i personally would change out my plugs for some new ones especially if you fog your engine. Starting it in the spring can foul your plugs up pretty bad when it burns up your fogging oil. I do new plugs every year, i start the boat on the old plugs in the spring and then swap for new ones. Im crazy..but 5 years id recommend throwing new plugs in and see what happens.
  6. Any way we can make it harder for jet skiers to be on the water? Asking for a friend
  7. A little different this year doing the winterizing in shorts and a t shirt. It kinda made me want to cry
  8. Compared to the crap I was fishing walleyes in on Sunday and Monday, these days ain’t too bad for a boat ride lol
  9. doing better than me bill, i havent caught a musky larger than a snot rocket since 2017 on the bay! lol
  10. I wish it was that simple. We have a marine rail system resting on the stones that are stacked for slope and levelling. We take the section of rail that goes through the ice out. Put the cart and the first piece of rail jacked up on a crib and sink the outer piece of rail. In order to sink it the stones have to come out. We leave the ones stuck in the mud but the other ones come out to get the rail below the ice.
  11. Unfortunately I gotta head south and close up the sale of my house and install some pot lights at my new house. So the work had to be done today! people think owning a cottage is all boat rides campfires and fishing when in reality it’s pulling patio stones off of the bottom of the lake in 6 feet of water during a snow squall lol
  12. Gonna be swimming in the lake today pulling the marine rails and docks out. Luckily I’ve got a dry suit to wear...still not fun though. damn forecast had to get worse and worse on my vacation week. Howling winds freezing temperatures. Then my vacation ends and it’s supposed to be 15. good times
  13. absolutely love that area myself. Have a very close family friend that is based out of theona park. I have spent a pile of time fishing those lakes.
  14. very nice fish. Good to see you getting out there Dan! looks like it was worth the trip for sure.
  15. this one also pains me a lot buddy. Usually i just end up using boats.net and dealing with the consequences of shipping. I also plan on doing a carb rebuild on my yamaha this winter and it really blows that you cannot source parts in canada. The only luck ive had is my local marina is a yamaha dealer so they are sometimes able to get parts but their markup is insane on a lot of stuff so its actually worth ordering from the states and paying ridiculous shipping fees. Search ebay as well, lots of smaller parts shops out of the states sell stuff on ebay. I recently bought a new hydraulic pump for my trim off of a motor shop in Detroit on ebay. Came here and was perfect.
  16. I’d personally recommend and auto inflatable. They are so comfortable you will forget that you are wearing it. I personally use a cabellas guide wear and love it. I made the switch from only wearing a vest while under power to basically always wearing the inflatable. There’s stories about them not inflating, but I think a significant component of that is people not storing and maintaining them correctly.
  17. jeez dave you catch a lot of big ones lol Howd the tournament season go this year. I saw you got a second there in that open. Any other good finishes mixed in there?
  18. Ive used a mustang, owned and used a FXR Float X, Nautilus (and went through the ice with it...theres a thread about that) and now I own a Salus. (still use the FXR for snowmobiling) Being the opposite of a few members here, i actually prefer a 1 piece simply for the warmth. Undeniably, a two piece is generally more comfortable for riding snowmobiles, and of course you can just wear the bib for when you are trying to get set up on warm sunny winter days and you start sweating. But, if you like me fish hutless very often, or arent scared of fishing when the mercury really drops -30 then you cant beat a 1 piece for keeping you warm. Now...as far as floatation goes, speaking from my personal experience, wearing a 1 piece coast guard approved float suit like the nautilus. I was floating so high in the water and was under control of the situation enough to make the conscious decision to attempt to get out without my picks (that were on me and readily available) I found it actually fairly easy to get out without the picks because I was floating so intensely. It literally was like every inch of my body was in a giant life jacket, I was barely in the water I was so buoyant. once I was out the suit drained incredibly fast and I immediately noticed that my body was warming up drastically. My hands and feet were not so happy and it was not a comfortable walk home. That suit then got a rip in it and I ended up buying a salus...the salus has every feature I could ever want from a float suit, its a bit stiff, but ergonomically fits, has a great suspender system to allow you to take the top off to cool off and the thing is built like armour around your body. Its insanely warm, waterproof and I absolutely love it. It to me beats the mustang and nautilus in every way.
  19. i actually think its the opposite. In 2020 we have meatheads everywhere running around embracing being giant D bags. Look at Colby Covington in the UFC. Its an entire movement.
  20. yup i heard this too... Judging by the video, i cant say he doesnt fit the bill...i mean to drive a boat like that and name it that, youve got to be a pretty huge d-bag of epic proportions? no?
  21. my neck of the woods is close, the water temperature is into the mid 50's now. Still can be as warm as 63 in other spots. The fish have definitely transitioned a bit with it. Where I was throwing a crank right up shallow a couple of weeks ago was a dead zone this past weekend. They wanted nothing to do with moving baits, they wanted everything drop shotted and out into the edge back into 20 fow. Man once we found the fish again though it was a bloody gongshow. We caught 20 smallmouth in about an hour 1 to 4 lbs they were all sitting on the side of the same clump of rocks in the middle of the lake.
  22. dont feel so bad, I fished a tourney out of honey harbour a few weeks back and we managed to lose 4 4+lb fish boat side in one day, i couldnt believe our luck lol. In the end if we had even a 50% landing ratio on those 4 fish we would have finished in the money. Ended up middle of the pack because we still had a couple of good ones. Theres big fish around there for sure.
  23. my understanding is all reserve premium is ethanol free. Dont know if anyone can assure that though.
