  1. Looks like a fantastic day out....I'll take eyes over carp *spits on ground* any day!
  2. After reading up on the Chatillon's, I told myself if I ever buy another scale, that'll be the one. Have a rapala digital...somewhere....it's weighed a few fish....but like Roy says, I find length/girth more impressive and more accurate. You could have a seriously badass spreadsheet once you factor in length/girth....track the fattest times of the year....different formulas (formulae?) for different species....hooo doggy!
  3. I got the impression that the Dragons were in on it....the guy kind of looks like the host of This is That....could just be a little stunt they're pulling....
  4. when he says "plug" he means a body bait aka crankbait aka minnowbait.
  5. Spring pike....lots of guys do well in the shadow of downtown TO. Could always take up Carp fishing....20 lbs is a small one.... I would say though, if you want to catch a salmon, stop driving around and focus on one spot. All you'll end up doing is beating your confidence to a pulp, while hearing about how people were catching at a spot you skipped out on, or got skunked at the night before. Pick one pier, hit it from 11pm-3am, and keep a glowing spoon in the water for as long as you can. Go for a couple weeks and you'll learn a few things.
  6. Yowza...that is crazy footage! I once had my hand right next to a good sized snapping turtle without knowing it....was retrieving a snag...low light in the evening...had that funny feeling about reaching around the downed tree. Pulled my lure out and there was a monster turtle just sitting there, had been watching it all go down.
  7. I'm pretty sure I'd go fishing
  8. Beauty! Subscribed
  9. Plummers....Fill up EddieNorth's camp for an OFC G2G, expenses paid by me...Pym Island....Knee Lake....Nipigon....I have a few places in mind
  10. Finally took the time to read that....what a treat! There's no two ways about it....nothing compares to those old articles. I love the author's description of the fight when he caught his first one...."justifiable suicide" made me laugh. His description of Trout Fever in the middle of winter....and "the land of Soda-Pop and Safety Razors". There is simply something magical about the North....this article has got me all stirred up to go now! Thanks TJ, for digging it up and sharing it with us
  11. A muskie guy with a steelhead thread......WORLDS ARE COLLIDING!!!!
  12. Smallies and Lakers...very deep...steep drops...very clear. 20 years ago, it was a popular lake with the icefishing crowd, but most people have given up on it....seemed to crash before the 5 laker limite was dropped to 2. I've heard of decent smallmouth numbers....have never heard of anyone pulling lunkers out...I keep meaning to fish it as it's down the road from my parents....never do though.
  13. What was that....a peppered marshmallow?!?! Looks like you guys had a great time as usual....always enjoy these reports
  14. Yowza...those are some nice fish...what depth are you finding them at? The second pic...the fish is saying "I simply REFUSE to have my picture taken!"
  15. No use for those skinners whatsoever....if I see one I'll let you know though
  16. Fantastic stuff....that's my kind of birthday for sure!
  17. Beauty fish, Rizzo....my biggest ski came out of the Kawartha's at 47"...didn't have the girth of that one....curious about one thing though: Had you slowed down by the time you got the big guy?
  18. Nice! That fish absolutely swallowed the thing!
  19. That's hilarious! I also enjoyed a couple other videos on that page....in slo-mo....
  20. I've never heard of a PLANNED outage...would be fun to see what happens down here if they tried it. People in the GTA sit quietly and not complain?!?!?
  21. Are there more people fishing say, from 1990 - 2010 compared to 1960-1990? It seems that next to nobody practiced catch and release pre 1990....and it also seems that the fishing was SO much better when we look back. Is this just human nature to remember it better than it was? Are there that many more people fishing now? Did catch and release somehow make fish harder to catch and that's why numbers are lower? My own opinion is that posession/size limits got changed a few years too late, and we will see a recovery.
  22. 40
  23. That's what I call a great Boys Weekend! Nicely done
  24. I'm no expert on photography....but I can't keep quiet....those are some FANTASTIC shots Bill. I just keep staring....can't even pic a favourite out of the bunch....they're all so captivating
