  1. Just saw this post. Watch guys Oakville parking control was buy last weekend and ticketing some cars in church lot. I guess someone called and complained. Agree totally with others. I'm 10 minutes from bronte and if I have an hour or so open I usually will hit the credit. Fish runs are small and water levels are very low.
  2. no pics handy but Smallmouth 22.75"(Trent System) Walleye 32.0"(BoQ) Pike 43" (Big Sand Lake MB) Steelhead 34" (Lake Ontario)
  3. I run the OR18 with 18# lead core. The pull on the board keeps the leadcore out of the water at all times from rod to board. Works very well each color of 18" gives me about 8ft depth of water with a 50ft flouro leader. I like to run the shallow minnow baits like rapalas and reefrunners with the lead core
  4. If you've stayed on Hay Bay and know the area you could easily drive down to north shore of Glenora Ferry. Check out a map and see the ferry route from Picton across the north shore. Nice sheltered launch, restrooms and free.
  5. The internet!!!
  6. I only have guys that could actually play on my top list and these never had to drop the gloves more than once Larry Robinson Clark Gilles and if you actually think Sean Avery is tuff look what Stumpy Thomas did to him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egHy0ebNK9Y Avery never dropped his gloves with anyone who could go!
  7. Have seen them a number of times. First time was at my high school in 1980. A few double bills at Sharkeys in Oakville with David Wilcox. A fairly regular play in my CD list - My fav - DISGUSTEEN Sad news
  8. I leave Friday for a week in the Temagami outback. Will be hunting north end of Diamond lake and from previous reports will defintiely be packing the 22 for grouse. First week group has sent out no reports other than it's been really warm and windy. Bugs have come back out which makes for a miserable time in the bush. Supposed to get a little colder next week. Makes it better for calling. Saw a nice bull in the summer. Hope he's still around. Will post a report when I'm back around the 25th
  9. Hey MT I'm off for moose this Friday and won't be back for a week. I've shot compound from high school through to a few years ago. Had to give it up due to neck injuries. Best is to have a spot that you can fire and setting up the bow is about a 15 minute process. Getting good actually takes a year or so. You need some type of dead stop target and a safe place to shoot. Start at about 3-4 yards and use your eye to set up your top pin. Line up your target to the top pin through the peep sight. Shoot 1 arrow at a time and adjust the pin until you get a consistent grouping. Move back to 5-7 yards and repeat. You don't need to shoot at any further distance. Once you can shoot consistent 2" groups at 5 yards then worry about the 20+ yard settings. If you have a place to shoot and want a hand or some freindly help give me a pm towards the end of October. I live in Oakville and will be abck in town post 27th
  10. Here's my results after a year on the BPS TCW3 they put on sale for under $10 a jug. Anyone want it???? After a season of limited hours I checked my plugs and have never seen as much crud. I'll be using merc oil next year for sure
  11. Swim baits either in the hard bait format like in your post or the soft plastic kind (6"+ paddle tails) have been the big bass goto bait in the US for a few years now. When you see high end rod manufacturers release a swim bait model you know they've done their research with their own pro staff. If the hard baits are out of the budget (like me) then load up on some of the plastics. We catch some decent fish on the big storm baits, Berkley Power bait hollow body and Yum Money minnow. These are pretty pricey too and they get chewed up fast. On my trip to Temagami I was amazed with the smallies hitting 6" Yum minnows. And Yes they were bigger fish that hit the swim baits.
  12. Fan of chordie myself and I can only strum and do campfire stuff Love surfing through the public book section on chordie and they have a great chord transpose feature to change the key up or down Chord position doesn't match spacing on here but.... Am G F G-Am There must be some kind of way out of here Am G F G-Am Said the joker to the thief Am G F G-Am There's too much confusion Am G F G-Am I can't get no relief
  13. Nice one Mark. Take care of that arm and get better. Quinte's not to far off. I'm in the same boat, disc in the neck slipped out again beginning of August and I've been useless ever since. All my buds have been off doing there own thing so I can't even wrangle a warm body to help with the boat launching. Picked up some of those slammers in the summer. As yet there have not gotten wet but have to say very nice job on em.
  14. If this is your first purchase and your just getting started there's 2 places I would put on your list to drop by #1) Wolfs Den Archery, Utopia just a little north west of Thorton on the way to Barrie. This place has a very large selection of new and used and the staff to answer all your questions. Even has a 3D range to take a few shots if your wallet starts getting itchy. They list the used stuff on their website. #2) Shooters Choice in Waterloo. Less used stuff but they carry pretty much all the top line brands. They have an indoor range too but its a bit of a hassle to just drop by and shoot. They have a great lesson shedule that will teach you not to develop any bad habits and to get the most out of your purchase. I bought my one and only compound bow when I was 25. I'm 44 now. Cost me $200 all in and the biggest thing to date for me was the stuff I learned after about shooting not the bow itself. One thing I learned fast was like golf clubs the way you play or shoot is never the fault of the equipment!!! Practice practice practice. and then practice some more!
  15. I do my brown, rainbow and salmon roe this way. Has always fished well and frozen well. Was using 5 year old brown roe this spring for trout opener. 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup salt 1.5 liters water add all ingredients and heat water until all is dissolved Let cool to room temp Fill airtight containers 3/4 full with roe Gently pour solution over eggs and add a bit more solution to fully cover Close lid tighly and freeze. When thawing avoid refreezing any more than 1-2 times as frost will start forming inside container and damage eggs simple and it works
  16. Was at the Cabelas(old SIR) this summer in Winnipeg. Had only recently converted over from SIR so stock was still fairly low. Prices very high but I think that was mostly due to Winnipeg and not Cabelas. Great hunting section though. Could have stayed for a few hours but only had about 30 minutes to kill
  17. If you're launching at the town docks it's a 13km ride down to the hub where you'll start to find access to shallower back bays like Kokoko, Spawning and Loon. Decent pike and smallies around the shorelines in those bays. There's deep water just outside the town bay area but it gets worked pretty good for lakers. You'll need a depth map for sure. Fish are deep this time of year. You could drive down lake temagami access road (18 km) and get right to the hub area. Only a 10 minute boat ride to any of those bays mentioned above. Stop in town at dads tackle and see what's been happening around the area. Dads has lake maps so you can see where you're heading to once you're on the lake. Every year I'm up there I get stopped by a few boaters trying to get somewhere. Up there all the shorelines do look the same if it's your first time on the lake.
  18. Not worth the trip Save the $ in gas and treat yourself to a guided trip somewhere and for something you don't normally get a chance to fish for
  19. Quick search on Toronto Kijji Crestliner Tourney 182 not a bad deal at all I'd buy this one just for the paint job 1990 crestliner I own a crestliner so I'll admit my opinion is jaded but the 1600 series is one of the nicest side console boat layouts going without breaking the bank. Also really like the G3's I've seen
  20. Hey Rizzo Nice boat but maybe a tad under-powered with a 50. My only thought on the princecraft boats is the way they set up the side gunnel areas. They take up so much space with the 4" ledge around the boat it cuts down on workable space inside the boat. I fished out of one up on Temagami and found the 162 a little cramped for me especially with another guy my size (a stout 5'9"). At the same time there was a Crestliner 1600 at ther camp and the amount of usable sapce inside it was so much more. If you'll be having one or more guests out on the water it gets a little tight especially if you prefer to take a biot of gear and do more casting. Just my 2 cents
  21. anticipation can only drive the price up more. I'm a big fan of original Curados but for the $ now there's a ton of reels just as good if not better If I had a dollar for every time I recommend the BPS Extreme I'd be a rich man. I have 5 of them now and paid $69 CDN every time they went on sale. I'm not fishing tournaments any more so the abuse level is down but they have perfromed very well for me.
  22. Always have 4 rods rigged Top water prop bait Senko rod 3"-4" Xrap Tube bait Can always rig up more but these four set ups get the most work
  23. good selection of SD's at JB's too
  24. Keep this post alive with update info, sounds like a great excuse to dust the old tournament gear off. It's been 10 years since my last one and Rice was one of my fav lakes. Bewdley launch??
  25. Summer time, small back lake for lakers - sounds like fun Jigging white tubes, swedish pimples or bad boyz will produce fish. What I'd do is run the lake with the fish finder looking for any 60+ water. Keep a close eye on the graph looking for marks and baitfish Shoals in or around that depth of water will be a good place to start. Also look for deepest water next to shore. I love jigging off deep walls right off shore. Trout will round up minnows against these spots and usually be on the feed if they're there. I use these same techniques on Temagami and it works. If your jigging a bad boy type lure don't be afraid to tip with a minnow or my secret weapon a 3" Gulp minnow.
