  1. sounds like deja vu to me You'll be happy with the rod I'm looking at the 20-50 now 7'10 but I tell ya I have no place for these 1 peice rods that are longer than 7'. My War Room at home here where I store my fishing anf hunting stuff has a low ceiling
  2. Hey Seb I bought a Fig Rig Tooth Tamer from JB's a few years ago. Just love it. 7'6" 25-80lb - use it as a jerk bait rod, top water and has in a pinch worked out for bucktails but it is a little stiff Very light and fits up with a Abu6500 or Shimano 400 series nicely. I'm always looking for something different and everyone I know had St. Croix's Looking at another one this year but for bucktails
  3. Walked by their booth at the sportsmen show wearing my OFC hat. It got the attention of 1 gent in the booth
  4. Hey Rob I've got a 2001 Fish Hawk 1750 with a 115 Merc (not Optimax). Ran side by side with the same size Princecraft with a 115 Optimax and it spanked my boat hands down. Out of the hole and top end. I run a 19" prop and can hit by GPS 43.5 MPH. Your right about the troll if your talking walleye. I use my 115 all the time for salmon and its no problem. Can drop down to 0.9 MPH by GPS. Had a 21" Stainless on it as a test and it ran 45 MPH easy. I have a couple friends with Optimax and they all love em. Reliable and better on gas than my straight 115.
  5. love the girls gone noodlin video on You Tube
  6. are there different attachments ??????
  7. I love my 7' Fig Rig. First time out it got slimed by 42"er on a 9" sledge (MuskyBill color) I think JB still carries them
  8. Hey Wayne Keep an eye out LE is known to get very slushy I can tell you a few good spots on Diamond.
  9. best beagle story yet gotta luv em. My guy ate something last week and painted the inside of his kennel.
  10. Always enjoyed his music. Sad news as we caught the first wire posting on the TV the other night. Press release was only 11 minutes old when I went on line. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in a few very small places in the early days. In 1985 or 86 he played the Manitou Bar on Lake Temagami - no one knew of him and the gig was not announced. It was absolutely amazing. I even joked with him that he didn't look old enough to drink. In all there was 10 people in the bar, 6 at our table. The other 4 were playing pool. Played with the same bassist and drum player as he had today. Sat next to us between sets and chatted. I'll never forget that night.
  11. Backlashes never go away you just get better at hiding them from others in the boat I bought my first in 1982 - Shimano 10SG from Barkleys and I still get the odd backlash here and there To start out here's my suggestions. Put on some cheap 15lb test Tie on a good size lure 1/2 minimum. Lighter lures are harder to cast set the free spool so when you click the button the lure pulls line out slowly (as Irishfiled stated) Reel the lure up to almost the rod tip. Practice side arm casting to get the feel on thumbing the spool for extra control Target shorter 20-30 ft casts until you get comfortable And never ever cast into the wind until you get better.
  12. Yeah Wayne I thought about that - things mostly happen in 3's don't they Can't wait for the next one. The molar in front was whacked playing hockey years ago and had to be yanked out so I'm being told I should get some implants now. Implants - made me giggle. I said to my wife as long as I'm getting some ....? She didn't laugh. Maybe I can get some funcky diamond grills or 2 silver teeth
  13. Hit BPS Friday morning - told boss I was going to visit some accounts. Got 2 Extreme rods and the $49 Pro Qualifier Spinng reel Picked up some big storm swim baits @ $1.49 a pack that will do nicely for the laker trip to Manaitoba this summer. Got back to work and played with spinning reel most of the day at my desk. Nice reel for $49, comes with a metal spare spool too! Hit Joseph on Saturday and caught a couple small trout but middle of the day I'm snacking on some crackers and I feel a pop in my mouth - I think oh no that can't be good Starts throbbing all day Sunday Visit the dentist this monring (my wife works for the dentist so i slipped in before the other patients) and the first thing out of his mouth when he looks at my tooth is Oh no! that's not good (Deja vu) Back molar is cracked right down the middle and he can wiggle each side of the tooth seperately. Off we go tomorrow morning to the dental surgeon for a complicated extraction - seems I have abnormal roots on my teeth - they're not too straight. Cripes, there goes the planned fish finder purchase this year!
  14. Nice one. Simcoe has some big walleye's and a few show up every year off the east side out in the "trout" grounds. My buddy poked one 11.5 a few years back on a whitefish tip up and a pinhead minnow. Just goes to show you the size and quality of the walleye run that goes up the Talbot river. Very impressive catch
  15. page 4 of the Spring flyer too http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...&storeID=11 I was paying $69 on sale last year. The rods are pretty amazing too. Will be picking up a couple to replace some old stuff
  16. Jeff What the size on the other 2 - nice fish and well within your rights to keep for sure
  17. New reel on the market so take heed. I've posted before so some are probably getting sick of this but the Extreme is on for $59. I can tell you I fished tournaments a while back and my buddy has a bunch of Curados. I have Extremes and we always pick up each others rods in the boat - The Curado is a bit smoother but there's not $130 worth of difference to me. For this price you can buy 3 Extremes and from my experience they are worth way more. I have 5 Extremes now and most likely will pick up another one this sale - 200 model
  18. I only know 2 places there Star Burger
  19. Yes Percys is considered Lake Ontario up to the locks at Percy Boom. Muskie defintely out of season. From last I heard a week or so it was slushy, very slushy with soft spots in the main channel areas. Jakes (or whatever it's called now) might be open for ice fishing but not sure. Tackle spot in Cambellford closed up a while ago so there's no sure resource you can call to find out. The closest you might get is to see if that tackle store in Hastings is still open. Somewhere I heard he'd closed up as well.
  20. Douger, might be just the fl yellow or pink RAVEN line that is getting popular with steelheaders. I do a lot of bottom bouncing for steelhead and switched to hi-vis pink line from RAVEN a few years back. Tie in a 3 ft flouro leader. The hi-vis line really helps me see takes fish before I even feel the take or can tighten the line up on a drift. It also helps you keep an eye on finding your float on drifts in bigger pools and farther casts You see a fair number of guys with this color line on the float reels as it is easier to see.
  21. My flyer came in last night and noticed on the second read through the RIO fly lines 4,5 and 6wt for $10. Nice I need a new 6 wt line for grayling this year. Can't weight. get it ha ha!
  22. Wow Extreme line of rods and reels at $59, great deal. This reel is the closest thing I've used comparing to a curado. 2 years ago I swapped a few old reels and picked up Extreme's. Great reels and looks like I'll have to add a couple more. They sell a 200 size now in both LH and RH
  23. Its been about 8 years since I shut down my tanks but I used to have sunfish, rock bass, bluegill, crappie, smallmouth, .... Smallies are extremely hardy and do well up to about 5-6" in length. After that they get territorial and I had 2 in a 50G tank and it was getting too small. Lots of splashing around and banging inot the glass From my experience you need to keep the tanks extra clean and ammonia levels on the low side. Use a filter that has a charcoal bag. Best to put only 1 primary fish in the tank like a bass or pike. If you go with panfish you can keep a few together kind of like a school of cichilds. I had about a dozen at one time, mixed bag of small bluegill, crappie and sunfish. Keep the number of fish on the low side and add lots of plants and cover and they'll do fine.
  24. Liquidation World in Oakville was selling TPS 1-piece for $25 so I bought 2. Same price as I would have paid for my normal stick Sherwood PMP. Never used one before and after first time out WOW These stick really whip the puck around but the feel is very differnt. It's like the stick is alive, hard time keeping the puck on the tape and it's way light in the hands
  25. Hack saw is fine just use a finer blade so no splintering will occur
