  1. I grew up at Dixie and queensway Burgers. Apache and C&Dubbs Pizza. Marconi or Pizza King (both take out or delivery) Wings. Wacky wings is newer and a good sports bar On the higher end Axia - Asian fusion around Winston Churchill and eglington Walkers fish market Lots of cool spots on north side of square one mall - Ruth crisp steakhouse too An absolute ton of great spots in port credit by the river Michaels back doors is great Italian in clarkson village
  2. google saltwater fishing piers broward county to get a few shore spots. These are pretty much high traffic public spots and they do get fish and wildlife guys dropping by checking for licenses I never did get to fish down in that area as we changed and went to Cocoa beach instead. The inner canals back off the beach hold some exotics like peacock bass and snakeheads You're only a 50-60 minute drive to Lake Okeechobee to, Guides are available out of Pahokee and Bell Glade
  3. did you try Fish 307? They have all the schematics for Cannon riggers which makes it easy to see what part you need and they have a good supply for older models I have first generation Mag 10's from the late 80's and get all my parts here. Quick shipping as they are just over in NY.
  4. Ron Post custom knives Sunridge Ontario He's been at the sportsman show selling his knives for the last few years I love mine. Have hunting, skinning, filet and a full set of custom steak knives from Ron
  5. The bait places I use have Oxygen tanks and can give the bag a good shot before sealing. We buy 2-3 bags for weekend trips each with enough minnows for a days fishing and open 1 each day. Keep the other bags unopened and sealed. Important to stay cold but not freezing and they'll be good for a couple days.
  6. Hope it's not tied to either Toronto or Montreal scoring (couldn't resist)
  7. simple is best, all we ever used on the sleds and ATV's up in temagami Stinger ATV Ice Auger Locker Hard to find nowadays but Sportsman Guide seems like they list it
  8. About half my moose ground was getting used up making jerky. I bought the high mountain kit from princess auto and did it in my oven. Did one pack (1-1.5 lb) at a time and it never lasted any more than a day or so around my house. not the best if your on a low salt diet cracked pepper and bourbon bbq was my favorite
  9. As an alternate on the way home check out 14 ave/Alden Rd and head east. It gets gradually better the further east of 404 you get. It'll get you far enough where you can get back onto Steeles. I have a number of customers in that area north of Steeles and it's generally my escape route out.
  10. It's been several years but there used to be a neat guitar shop in belleville that sold lots of Taylors. Used to pop in after a days fishing Ardens - looks like its still there and another store in trenton
  11. Own 2 Martins myself but I'm just a campfire strummer. Plan a trip into the city and go to Twelfth Fret. All the acoustics you can ever dream of are on the wall there. I played a Tanglewood a while back. Very nice guitar. Martin and Taylor's are top sellers in the mid to high end for a reason
  12. If you're referring to the Rustoleum NEVER WET product I used it on a pair of hunting pants a few years ago as an experiment. The pants were still waterproof but the outer fabric would get wet and then get really heavy. After spraying with the 2 part aerosol, the finish on the pants changed to be ever so tacky to touch but boy did they ever shed the water. Still use the pants the odd time and they are holding fast with the water dancing off the fabric. Maybe worth the try. Home Depot sells it too.
  13. Not a big expert on Okeechobee but I've done a fair bit of research on fishing opportunities in Florida over the years. I do know that you'll see a very heavy tournament schedule in November with multiple local events every weekend through the month. It's kind of like July up here. you can see those listed on FLBASSTOURNAMENTS.com and the marinas they run out of. I've fished bass a few times down there with a guide and yes you could "luck" into a 12 pounder but you're probably be a little disappointed. Even shiner fishing on Kissimee, my biggest was 5 lbs and big fish for that week was 7.5lbs. I'd trade all of my 3 bass fishing trips in florida for just 1 saltwater inshore trip In Fort Meyers, you're right on top of one of Florida's greatest inshore fisheries for snook, trout and just offshore around Sanibel there's tons of man made reef structure. Novembers a little late for a good redfish bite. Go get 1 Goliath grouper or a 6ft black tip shark and then talk to me about bass fishing. Estero bay just south of Fort Meyers is world famous Hands down don't ever pass up saltwater to go dunk some shiners for bass. Took me a few trips to realize that and if I'm going to spend money fishing it'll be saltwater every time This fish literally destroyed me. I mean down right pulled me around the boat like a rag doll. That smile lasted the whole day and then some!
  14. Same thing last night with me, dropping my son off. Guy all in dark clothing standing in the middle of the turn in lane in an industrial division with bad lighting. Saving grace is he stopped to light up a smoke in the middle of the laneway and I saw the lighter. Otherwise he was completely hidden in the shadow of the building
  15. Agree with Drifter, my house, boat and hunting packs are full of the Garrison 150 Lumen flashlight. They sell them under the Mastercraft label now and the POWER METAL model is on sale this week for $14.99 - great compact flashlight and very durable. I also have a couple of LED Lenser lights I bought from Lowes Hardware on sale. The PR14 at $70 is an awesome flashlight especially when it goes on sale for $40 (what I paid) 350 Lumen on 4 AA batteries. Lights up half the lake and you can focus the beam.
  16. If it's strictly trolling the the shimano tekota 300LC is about as good as it gets. The Okuma cold water reels are newer in the market and so far no issues that I hear about. A size 15 should work for your needs If you cast as we'll then Abu 5500 or 6500 come in line counters too
  17. As a follow up, MNR officer I heard discussing this at a hunting show said if your anchor is down then I'll be 100% sure your forward momentum is stopped
  18. don't know if you can actually ever see this printed in a formal regulation but this is how I and all my duck hunting buddies were taught and have since practiced From FAQ published by Government Canada site on Migratory Bird Hunting Question: While hunting from a boat, may I start shooting at waterfowl as soon as the engine has been turned off? Answer: No. Hunting may only commence once the motor has been turned off and the boat (any boat, canoe or yacht equipped with a motor) has stopped its forward progress. The only exception I ever ran across is there is a moderate allowance if you are drifting a river where the water speed is carrying you along.
  19. used to know a couple farms that raised and sold them outside Caledon and Orangeville. one of them was pretty big operation with several hundred birds on site they raised them for the game bird farms and private shooting clubs you can still see ads for them on kijiji
  20. The dollar stores sell great little baking trays that can be used for just this. I have 3 little brownie sized trays for adding wood chips to the BBQ. I find it's harder to get a true smoked result using the BBQ. Really your slow cooking as it's harder to get the lower temps for smoking. Still works though and when I don't have 6 hours to spare I add wood chips in my BBQ to get that oh so good extra flavour Loving the cherry wood right now and just did a nice batch of BBQ pork chops on Friday. 2 hours on the BBQ at around 225F BBQ normal for first 10 minutes and then into smoker mode. Chops done to medium rare and then go on the top rack and chips in brownie pan on top of burner set on low. It's about a good 3-4 beer smoking time from there.
  21. What Spiel said I've run Offshores since the day they came out. Cut the wire leads off and replace with longer leads. I run about 18" of weed wacker line in bright green and crimp off with small wire crimps from the hardware store designed for the smallest braided outdoor wire. For salmon and trout I put all lines - mono or braid right at the back. On Erie I played around with 1/2 to all the way and dint really see any difference. Make sure you get some bend in the rigger rods so any hit or struggle by a hooked fish makes the rod bounce.
  22. I've been ditching my old spinnerbait style bottom bouncers and going to a quick change clevice. You can convert yours by just cutting off the extension arm. Main line from rod to a bearing swivel. In front of the bearing swivel put on a quick change clevice and a bead. There are heavier clevices for bottom bouncers out there. Tie in your leader length after the bearing swivel to your worm harness. I also tie my harnesses with smaller quick change blade clevice. I can go from a 1/2 once, #3 blade to a 3 ounce, #5 blade in less than a minute. way easier to store too! just type in quick change bottom, bouncers into google
  23. most all the outdoor stores only sell the 7mA 12 V batteries. Their OK but check out any real battery store and get a 15mA. Same size dimensions except for 2" taller. On fly ins I get 4 days out of this battery on a HB798 color and the biggest thing you can do it turn down your screen brightness to get longer battery life Magnacharge Batteries in Mississauga has some very cool small 12V that can be easily used for fish finders
  24. It's not too far a drive east over to Cocoa Beach. I went out with Captain Jamie Glasner of Fin and Fly charters. He does both inshore and offshore and I wouldn't hesitate to rebook with him again. He has an Instagram account where he posts pics of the days catch. If it's nasty weather and rough seas you can always go inshore fir reds and trout as a choice
  25. like Bill said, When I first got my HB, I used the SS to the point of distraction. Several trips I spent more time running my areas mapping out what was down there and boy did I find a ton of stuff. you can see mud to gravel transitions, rocks, debris, even marked a shopping cart pretty clear at the mouth of 16 mile creek on lake ontario. It's so cool to drag and drop a weigh point on the side scan even though you've past the object too. My best find was a very large pile of big timber logs that had submerged into the bottom mud. Clearly I could see the logs lying on the bottom with SS. Away from the shoreline with nothing around it so you'd have to stumble onto it trolling. That night was incredible with walleye on almost every cast
