joonmoon replied to silvio's topic in General Discussion
Would luv to go but no way to get anywhere. I'm in K-W if ya wanna grab me then go..... -
Ya ya ya I know I know.. .The locks are right in town and the river will hold lots of fish all year. Mind the regs as the season closes early in the fall. When school starts get your books and your kits and register and all that. Then get down to the river and explore, lots of decent water to fish. Look up Big Cliff, you won't be disappointed. Good luck with school, you won't need luck to fish.

Do you think the cold effects the BITE?
joonmoon replied to FISHINGNUT's topic in General Discussion
Air temp might not affect the bite but the barometric pressure changes sure will and sometimes wind as well depending on where you fish. -
Its never too cold to go ice fishing...hence the name"ice fishing". Dress for it be active and enjoy the winter.

I'm pretty sure that BPS doesn't sell the parts for these heaters...as a matter of fact I was there last Thurs and they don't even have any of the heaters left. The sale sold all of them. I went to Princess Auto to get mine. If you look up the manufacturer I'm sure they will be able to help you out.
-
Look in hook-ups and I can make your day fun and enjoyable if ya wanna drive a bit.
-
Not sure if its the one you are lookin for but they have Otter huts at BPS. Saw them there last week, a blue camo on the outside. Bring your life savings cause they aren't cheap.
-
Should have left them alone...let nature take its course. Survival of the fittest. Isn't that why they have antlers in the first place...so they can joust for position and/or the right to mate with does? The strong genes will prevail. If they both died, then he could have saved himself the bullet. Now theres two bucks out there possibly gonna die from exhaustion and one of them is missing half its antlers. Then he could of had both of them in the freezer.

Question - Spinning Reels for Ice Fishing
joonmoon replied to alexmedic's topic in General Discussion
Thats what I do. Every couple of years I pick up several Okuma UL 10. Its a fantastic little reel for all year use. Once a year I take them apart and clean em up and add reel grease to the main shaft and gears inside. Then I oil the handle and bail and they are good to go. I've found that the reels that come with an icefishing combo are usually the cheapest money can buy. I look for a good rod or combo as long as the rod is what I'm lookin for then replace the reel after the first or second winter because the drag usually burns out or the gears are made of plastic. Spend the little extra on a good reel and you won't be disappointed. Good luck and enjoy the season...remember its the most fun you can have with three layers of clothing on. -
Gotta luv it when the tip-up tips down and away you go. Handlining can be fun but I prefer the mini rod and reel. Way better control, good for you nice fish for sure.
-
I'm not exactly sure but if you are tasting the fumes then breathing them in for any length of time prolly isn't too healthy for ya. I would go with a propane heater...like Mr. Buddy.

how do you know if your trailer get a flat tire on the road?
joonmoon replied to Victor's topic in General Discussion
Had a bearing seize on my utility trailer a few years back. Matter of fact happened twice. First time we were over loaded with weight, hauling a 850 lb landscape rock and a riding lawnmower on top of that and a BBQ strapped to the front of the trailer. We knew right away, it banged and began to sway side to side real bad almost thru us in the ditch. Kept it under 80 klics for the next 100 km home. The next time we were empty and the bearing went. It locked up the tire and we dragged it a bit. I jumped out had a boo at it and couldn't do anything with it so we finished our journey, about another 35 klics...again kept it under 80 km/h. When we arrived there was about 1/8" of rubber left cause it had dragged. We swithed bearings both sides and I put larger wheels on and have had no problems ever since. We did blow a tire on a trip to Elliot Lake hauling a tent trailer too. Don't worry you'll know if/when it happens. Just slow down and get to the shoulder carefully.
