Well how else would you wanna spend your anniversary...Hit Port Maitland with plans to try for perch, once there wisely decided to pass and head up river due to the 4-5' rollers and whitecaps. Seasickness was not on the agenda. Trolled the river with a few stops at fav areas...nothing happening til we reached the dam. Silver Bass and Cats were hungry thats for sure. The current was a real match for the Minn Kota and drained the battery in about 1.5 hrs. It was a short day due to the thunderstorm I could see rolling in the background but a good one spent with my better half.

Launched at Coleman Park into the wind, no problem but getting back out...ya no dock so got a little wet. Anyways my better half and I fished mostly for crappie and eyes and caught these decent keepers. The Crappie was in my self-imposed keeper slot (9-11") and the Eye was 15" both swam the livewell of death. Several perch have been caught and released from the killer livewell in the past and again a 10" perch was released to swim and be caught another day. Ended the day with 4 perch, 3 bluegills, 1 sunfish, 1 crappie, 1 walleye and gently released 2 largemouth and 1 smallmouth at boatside. Had a great multi-species day. Not bad for only a few hours in the afternoon.

Mountsberg is open and has been since opener for Pike. Shorefishing is easier now than later in the summer due to the weeds. The lake is a little high now, the shoreline is flooded a little so wear appropriate footwear. Walking in a few yards is your best bet and fishing the boatlaunch is prolly your best starting point. Good luck and don't forget to pay for launching/parking even if you don't bring a boat. The ticket you will get is large. Read the conservation sign where you put your pay envelope. Enjoy your day.

Okay to make it short...My buddy and I and his Bud are heading to Pickeral River, just off of #69/400 sometime this August for a few days. Planning on camping somewhere in the bush. Takin our 15' boat and doin a few days with the boyz fishin. My buddy has been there before and knows some of the area enuff to get by. I need to know what the area looks like...current,rapids,rocks,depths...and any other assorted water hazards you might encounter while on the river. Any help would be appreciated, can't find any maps or charts of the area that are decent enuff I could use as navigational tools. I don't have a GPS on the boat so maps and charts and visuals is all I will have. Thanks.

Cool, the little buggers are everywhere. It is illegal to keep them in a tank and if you were gonna you'd have to have a large tank with a chiller and wicked filteration and lots of current and a ton of luck. I tried to keep a smallmouth when I was a kid and it didn't work out very well, tank too small(35 gal) not sufficiant filteration or fresh water/current and it didn't want to eat. I had to let it go within a week or it would have died.

Why not just be quiet and save yourself alot of $ and time and a potential headache. You could build a platform at your seat and carpet it to deaden sound, that way it would be cheaper and removable to access the hull if need be. Stealthliness is to be respected but not at the expense of gas mileage with all the extra weight you'll be adding with the spray on liner.

Thanks TJ and OFN staff - All OFNers please respond!

This crappy weather will be over soon and the bugs will be killed off or at least moved on. Nice work Sue, takin care of the old man, we all need to be taken care of once and a while. Good thing for good women eh Cliff!

What an awesome promo video. The more I watch and see yak fishin the more my internal need to get one and giver. I've fished from a yak lots of times and have always wanted one since my little brother got one. Maybe sooner than later...hmmmm.

We'll keep that in mind JWL, I think we just needed to go anyway, you know what its like when you haven't been out for over a week. Hafta...lol. Should of gone to Simcoe, oh well thanks for a good day anyway Nomad.
-
Make sure when you release the fish that they actually make it down the hole and not swimming on top of the ice...lol. Been there done that. Good luck to everyone and don't be surprized if there was more melting than you thought. Its not staying very cold at night and won't be for several days. Wear your float suits and rubbers, its gonna be soggy.

Now if someone could figure out how to set up an acct. of debt so the fraudsters could make payments for you...that would be awesome...WHAT, I can dream can't I...lol.

Due to the ice and slush floating in mass quantities, Nomad and I found it very frustrating to say the least. One short drift at a time then the sluch and chunks would roll in and we had to wait for 5 min before we could do a drift again. Nomad had several roe takers today but didn't get the hook into em. The day was a beauty and our hopes were high but the river had other plans. I think I'll wait til spring before I climb the stairway to heaven again. Fishin it in these conditions is not impossible but just not fun, I dunno what we would have done had we hooked a good one. Standing on slab piled up ice on shore prolly 8-10' off the water would make landing a fish interesting.

I lost 40 lbs in 2 months by deleting salt from my diet and drinking tons of water. After my weight plateaued I continued drinking as much water as I could, we don't add salt to our diet at all and just buy food that has a reduced or no salt added. Your system needs to flush out thats where the water in tons comes in. During all of this regular exercise is a must. How bad do you wanna lose it. Eat right, exercise regularily and enjoy life.
