I had a bigger boat at one time that I kept docked closer to the Erie islands west of me, those tanks seemed to have no trouble at all jumping clear out of the water during the spawn, never really saw one do it any other time. LOL, they used to bounce off the sides of our boats while docked. The big ones we caught were early in April, the water was cold and they were sluggish, but it was sort of like tying your line to a truck. They would wack a tube just like a smallie, but you knew as soon as you set the hook it was no smallie! LOL You couldn't budge them and the line just started peeling off. I had to turn my bow mount on high and follow them or they would have probably spooled us. LOL, sad to think that the biggest fish any of us 3 ever landed was a carp!

Ah, the land of the midnight sun!

Years ago I took my former son in law and one of my fishing buddies out for some spring bass fishing on a bay off of Lake Erie here. We caught 3 carp while fishing with tubes for bass, those 3 carp had to be over 100 pounds total weight, and I am guessing well over a 100 pounds. Big powerful fish, and we were using spinning tackle and 8# test line, I doubt we would have landed any of them if we hadn't been able to follow them in the boat. Commercial fishermen net them here, which is sort of a sight to see. The ones we watched had sort of a barge with slat sides they towed with another boat, they would fill it to the point were waves were washing over it. Water pigs, I think they will eat anything.

Cool! When I was like 16 I caught some little ones that looked like that while netting minnows for bait in a trib of Lake Erie, that was the only time I had seen one around here.

I have only seen pictures and videos, looks like a cool place to fish.

LOL, I know of an Amish guy that couldn't see about a 2 foot drop in level in 40 feet!

How was the fishing?

Ya, that and the axle is less than 96 inches, it should be pretty easy to slide a straight edged object along the axle and look for a bend, it seems one of that size should be pretty obvious?

Some nice catches there! -
You can wrap a small piece of solid wire solder around a hook shank and get a rate of fall or get different suspending angle. It comes in different diameters ( weights per inch } so you can dial in what you want easily. Just a couple of videos on knock off lures and pricing? http://www.fishkds.com/apps/webstore/products/category/1504260?page=1

That just happened to be the first one that came up in a search, there appears to be some other options? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-IN-PACKAGE-STORM-TWITCH-STICK-BASS-FISHING-VARIOUS-SIZES-AND-COLRS/222635303520?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D44039%26meid%3D999851d8104b4292a2ed57a7cf36e7b4%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D112690802513%26itm%3D222635303520&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 the twitch stick 10 is 5/8 ounce.

Lake Erie walleye forecast from the south side.

I am 67 and never saw a Walleye caught outside of the 2 known river spring spawning areas until they banned the commercial fishing for them, not even a small one. I can still remember the battles over that move, we're not taking enough walleye to hurt the population! LOL, and a few years after the ban they were all over the place. Yes environmental issues were a very big issue here, Lake Erie was a mess, that lakefront property you could buy for a song back in the 60's and early 70's has become prime property again. -
That is a moose? or what's left of one?

Nice! My gardening has been limited to ordering tree seedlings for my son to plant for a lot of years now.

Yep Akri, changes, when we first started going there one of the first sights we saw was a big commercial netter tied up to the dock by Kennedy's, it seemed like that was his base, it was there every year. Knowing the area and the primary spawning area it wasn't hard for them to decimate or severely impact a walleye population? In later years when you didn't see a commercial boat tied up there walleye fishing was much better. A lot of reasons though? I do credit things like bassmasters and raising public awareness to catch and release, improved water quality and such though too. I have watched some local area fishing videos from our Lake Erie shoreline, they seem to be catching smallies, largemouth, and walleye in places were sheephead were the catch of the day in my youth! -

Ditto, my dad was a great depression era kid, catching and keeping fish was almost like free food, I don't think it ever left him. Never experiencing a real life food shortage personally sort of made it hard for me to understand the need to keep every legal fish you caught. LOL, I think dad cringed every time I threw a fish back in! -

Peter backs boat down the ramp like a pro

I started driving a truck in the early 70's, they kept getting longer and longer. It was one of the reasons a lot of businesses moved from an inner city location to an industrial park in the the burbs, there was no way to get a big trailer into some of those places and it was cost prohibitive to acquire more land to expand. The old inner city locations also had a lot more bridges and overpasses with less than 13' 6" clearance needed for modern trailers, but over the years they have slowly been working on that issue. -
I live in a rural area here stateside, electric and propane were all that was available I recall as options for us. My home is all electric and my electric power is thru a multi county electric co-op. You might check with your electric supplier in your area and see if they offer rebate programs such as these? http://www.lmre.org/content/water-heaters A gas or propane water heater probably need a chimney of sorts? a higher risk of CO2 problems?

My experience with swimbaits is very limited, but something like this should work. http://www.lurepartsonline.com/Online-Store/Bass-Jig-Trailers/Super-Shad-4-6.html bass and small pike seemed to like the smaller ones.

Compared to some other alleged non profit charities the percent actually going to the people in need is pretty stellar?
-
Exactly, their percentage is clear.

It's worse when you are waiting at a truck dock and watching someone for 10 minutes or so trying to back the trailer they are pulling into a dock and then have them come over to you and ask if you can do it for them!
