  1. Brian, from the video description, " This is a video of Jeff and Nick scuba diving at the cliffs on Horn Lake in Burk's Falls Ontario. This is a 5 minute boat ride from Birch Crest Resort. " Not being very familiar with the area I can only assume it is the same lake?
  2. They put some pretty interesting videos on youtube, for fishing and just about anything else.
  3. It looks like some areas have a lot of wood on the bottom.
  4. http://www.canadianwiggler.com/cisco It's hard to judge the thickness of the metal and so the weight, bu it looks like a dipsy or downrigger lure?
  5. http://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/species-and-habitats/species-guide-index/fish/spottail-shiner Believe it or not Old they are alleged to be the second most common minnow in Lake Erie. When the bait stores here can't get Emerald shiners the sell either fathead minnows or small golden shiners for bait, I consider fathead minnows a waste of time and money, never had any luck on them anywhere for anything.
  6. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-canoe-motor-mount That one looks a lot like this one, notice the sliding adjustment holes in their picture #1, the bottom looks like it clamps over the bottom of the side rail? https://www.amazon.com/Old-Town-Saddle-Canoe-Motor/dp/B001NZV5KU Zoom!
  7. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/live-bait-hooks/810732.aspx Something like that would be my choice of a perch, crappie, panfish hook.
  8. Just something to be aware of, I know it's probably more of a problem in southern areas, but can affect anyone.
  9. I can recall my dad's bil and another of his fishing buddies stopping by the house one day when I was a little kid, they had gone to the Sandusky River for the walleye run but it had tailed off and all they had caught was white bass. Those were the biggest average sized white bass I had ever seen, then and now, they all had to be 14+ inches. Dad was into crappie perch and bluegill, we rarely kept white bass.
  10. Old, to the best of my knowledge commercial fishing for walleye is still a no-no here, they still allow netting perch I believe though, rough fish like carp and buffalo are fair game. Our limits have changed a number of times over the years, I think they now set them by the harvest and future outlook numbers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_bass http://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/species-and-habitats/species-guide-index/fish/white-bass https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_perch http://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/species-and-habitats/species-guide-index/fish/white-perch To me white perch look more yellowish than the white bass, and Lake Erie silver bass are sheephead! LOL I am not sure how the black bass term came to be, here we go bass fishing, and it's either for largies or smallies, sometimes both, but I don't hear people calling them ( either species ) black bass, green fish or bronze! LOL, ya the common language thing can be confusing, even here in the States.
  11. http://ohiodnr.gov/news/post/2018-lake-erie-sport-fishing-outlook-shares-great-news-for-anglers Here is the fishing forecast they are giving here in Ohio for Lake Erie.
  12. and they damaged your truck, a few repair bills might change her attitude.
  13. I think some of them are European baits? https://www.lureshop.eu/
  14. https://adventure.howstuffworks.com/outdoor-activities/fishing/freshwater-tips/walleye/walleye-spawn2.htm Two of the best known spawning areas here on Lake Erie are the Sandusky and Maumee rivers. Wind isn't usually a factor, spring rains and siltation seem to be more of an issue.
  15. I had a 1987 17 ft ( 16' 8 "Smokercraft ) with a 35 hp 2 stroke Merc on it, it had a beam of 73 inches but was a side console. Most of your newer boats are 6-8-10 inches wider for a boat of the same size, so I would assume they would troll slower with the same size motor. Mine didn't seem to have any trouble trolling slow enough for walleye, pike, and skis, even for smallies on Lake Erie, never had much luck trolling for largemouth, probably because trolling water wasn't usually where they were.
  16. http://campsbaycottages.com/gallery/fishing/ I don't know for sure Gerritt, but from a couple of camp gallery photos I didn't see any Skis. https://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/6056-big-gull-lake/ Old but it may help with walleye, and watch for hidden rocks?
  17. There is a blast from the past! Pretty sure I still have an old Langley in my barn.
  18. http://www.cleveland19.com/story/38116640/thousands-without-power-across-northeast-ohio-as-50-mph-winds-rip-through-region Yep, hit here too!
  19. Many years ago we would be in the river or near it at PAB and see something just barely sticking out of the water, when we got closer it looked like a telephone pole just barely floating with the thicker end down. Saw them a few times over the years and glad we never hit one! It seems to be there used to be one on the left side of the river past the narrows that was stuck? Maybe something from past logging?
  20. I wasn't opposed to using live bait, especially in my younger years, caught them on minnows and perch up there. LOL, come up to take a look?
  21. We were at PAB one year like 50 years ago and my brother and dad had been fishing in a different boat and he showed me a golden shiner he had caught around the hole in the wall? It was about 10 inches long, never saw another one there, even in the bait stores. There are bowfin here, but I have never seen or caught one here, the ones we got at PAB seemed to average around 5-6 pounds, one of my buddies got one in Brignall's that had to be pushing 20 pounds. He had caught a 31 in walleye like the day before and we thought he had a real monster hooked, LOL, it was a monster ! White bass used to be easy to catch in Lake Erie here, any lights by the water at night with small lures.
  22. Nice link Jon, all the golden shiners I have seen look like the fish on the right.
  23. Congrats sir, you should be good at it.
