  1. http://www.lakescientist.com/lake-facts/fish/muskellunge/ " Muskellunge BiologyMuskellunge and northern pike many times inhabit similar habitats, and research in Minnesota revealed a few interesting findings. Muskie, in the absence of northern pike, tend to reproduce in the same shallow, weedy areas that would normally be dominated by northern pike spawning during the spring. However, in the presence of northern pike the muskellunge tend to spawn in slightly deeper water, yielding the more preferred habitat to the northern pike. The presence or absence of northern pike also appears to impact ultimate growth of muskellunge. Muskie inhabiting waters without northern pike rarely reach total lengths of more than 40 inches, while muskie in the presence of northern pike occasionally surpass 60 inches. Muskie spawning generally occurs when water temperatures are in the 50s (°F), and a 40-pound female can produce about 200,000 eggs. Muskie larvae eat plankton after absorption of their yolk sac and soon switch to a diet of strictly fish. Peak feeding periods for muskellunge usually occur when water temperatures are in the mid-60s. "
  2. Our do not call list down here in the states is a joke. All robo calls should be allowed to be blocked, as well as calls from our morons in Washington.
  3. 640 acres is a square mile, very small for a walleye lake.
  4. No, bent hooks, broken - bent snaps and steel leaders, and broken - cut lines.
  5. I agree, is it any wonder that some lakes now seem to have constant stocking programs to maintain a population?
  6. LOL @ Roy and Art!
  7. LOL, it's tough being short?
  8. Roast beef in sour cream sauce with potato dumplings, my grandmother and mom used to make roasters full of it. Slovak.
  9. Steve Z and Mike Pettry run the place, I have known Mike since his birth, his dad Joe was my #1 fishing buddy and coworker from time to time. They used to go to the Lunge Lodge fishing since the 1970's. As I recall Steve and Mike had a background in the construction trade here before they took over the Lunge, I would imagine improvements continue as finances permit. Both regularly fished bass tournaments here, and I don't see either having any trouble at all adapting to other species. A couple of straight up guys, if you have questions just call and ask?
  10. Many many years ago I saw one roaming the shoreline at Pointe Au Baril, the only one I have ever seen. Back in those days the camp owner would take all the oars out of his boats at night, something about the porcupines chewing the oar handles to get the salt from sweat? I was surprised to hear there were Fischers in some areas of Rhode Island.
  11. My son and I usually answer phone numbers we don't recognize with screwed up/S and it's not fish under structure.
  12. A lot of road driver for companies I worked for liked the Buffalo run, it was easy to go there and back in a day, at least in the summer! LOL Their stories convinced me not to try it during the late fall or winter.
  13. http://www.sumppumpworld.com/shop-by-brand/hydromatic/hydromatic-w-a1-submersible-sump-pump-3-10-hp.html I keep a couple of these around the house, plug in, but stuff has a habit of failing when the stores are closed.
  14. I just watched some local news stations from that area, they could get hit with 8+ feet of snow by Friday? That would suck!
  15. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2014/11/dangerous_lake_effect_snow_blizzard_lake_ontario.html Western New York might not be a good destination!
  16. We got 3-5 inches here, it started early in the morning, our first recordable snow here, 15 miles or so north of us they have been dealing with it for a week or so.

  18. As a former collector I have seen a lot of intact reel boxes and associated packaging materials go for more than the price of the reels when purchased. Condition means a lot!
  19. I always did in the past, at this stage of the game even driving seems risky business to me, I let my driver's license expire.
  20. I saw a couple of snowflakes yesterday, funny how living 25 miles south of Lake Erie can make such a difference in the amount of snowfall? Cleveland and points east of it got a lot.
  21. "By law, you need a valid fishing license (e.g., sport or conservation) to catch your own live:" "Only resident anglers can capture bait fish." It's discrimination at work! If non residents pay for a license why are they barred from catching their on bait!
  22. That certainly beats bass trapping a school of golden shiners against the shoreline and picking them off.
