Hi Everyone, I must appologize for not trying to stop and say hello yesterday. I was driving (leading another car) to Innisfil beach park yesterday when I noticed a black pickup truck (can't remember the make, definitely a US maker) in front of me with a jumla sticker in the bottom left corner of the cab and an OFC sticker in the bottom right corner of the cab. It was about 10:30 am right near the park, but then whoever it was turned into the dollar store. Since I was leading another car, I didn't want to confuse the other car, I didn't follow the truck into the dollar store parking lot. I tried to see if the truck parked after I got to parking lot at the park, but I didn't see it. Anyways, I would like to say hello and sorry I missed greeting you there. Oh, and yes, I did get skunked again on Simcoe, but it was a nice day out! Stan (HearingFish)

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could PM me where I should start from on the West side of Simcoe, I've heard of Innisfil, and BBP (Big Bear Point?). But since I'm not familiar with the area, I'd like to ask for a little help on where I can park and walk out to do some ice fishing tommorrow morning. If any OFNers are out, let me know, I'll try and swing by to say hello. Thanks, Stan (HearingFish)

And I will also pledge to be an ethical ethnic angler, just to make sure there is a balance between Rick and Cliff. Stan

This reminds me of an accident I saw just in front of me over the bayview ramp about 15yrs ago. I was lucky not to be involved but it was about the same, I was just over the limit at about 95 in the left lane when a moron is flashing his high beams to get me out of the way, the moron decided to cut 2 lanes over the the right and then back into the left lane not seeing there was another car ahead of me, t-boned the car in front of me and then had the nerve to put the car into reverse when they came to a stop, hitting another minivan passing the slowed traffice in the right lane!!! I remember 2 guys and a girl getting out of the CRX, felt like getting out and bashing them (but that wouldn't have gotten anywhere). Anyways, Lew and Sheri, I hope Sheri feels and gets better soon. Why don't these aggressive drivers ever think about others on the road!! If they wish to take their own lives, do it without involving other innocent people! Stan

Thanks Mittzu. I'm surprised no one else is offering any more help. I thought there were more BOQ fishers here. Stan

Hi all, I have a friend who has another buddy flying in from Japan to do a week of ice fishing. Yeah, that right a 19 hour flight to come here to Ontario to ice fish for a week! (Feb 17 -24) Anyways, I can only take off one day from work to fish Simcoe with them, but they have asked me to look for info regarding ice fishing on the bay of Quinte as they have never fished for walleye through the ice and would like to give it a try for a day. Anyone here have any suggestions? They are also from the Markham area looking for a weekday outing. Since I have got no knowledge of icefishing BoQ, I figured this would be the best place to ask. They are willing to go with a hut operator (preferrably on the west side of the BOQ) but will need easy directions. If anyone here wants to offer to show them around and help them out please PM me. Thanks, Stan

I can't believe all the poor excuses being thrown around Although I live only minutes away, I didn't see enough snow in Markham to understand all the fuss. Sure there was about 10 cm of powder snow in the driveway, most of it being snow drift off the roof tops. Took me a whole 3 mins to shovel a 40' path to my car from the front door so my kids wouldn't get side tracked (playing in the snow). The roadways were partly snow covered but have been plowed and salted down. My receptionist comes in fuming after her Viva bus didn't stop at her stop, didn't even make the effort to getting into the lane despite her and another rider was waving at them to stop. The following bus drivers said the buses were about 30 mins behind but there was no excuse. The second driver told her to call to complain as Viva has GPS tracking and door/stop monitoring. Well, my office is 2 for 2 on the anticipated staff! Good luck and safe driving wherever you may be. HearingFish

T-Bone, I'm glad you have had some answers back! Ask them if the new gasket is aluminum (it's better than the plastic). HearingFish

Hey T-Bone, it sounds exactly like my wife's van problem except you didn't mention if the coolant levels were low. look under the hood, topping up will only be a temporary solution until you get it to a mechanic to fix the problem. My wife's van problem was a leaking head gasket, would have cost around $1000 to fix at the dealership. Good luck, HearingFish

Hey T-Bone, cold air blowing while idling may be due to an air pocket in the cooling system, while moving the water pump is working the current of the coolant. My wife's van had a similar problem a little back. Found out it was due to low coolant level, be VERY careful as it may overheat while in use. Found out the van had a broken gasket (repaired under courtesy warranty as it was a known problem and had a silent recall on it). look around the engine edges to see if there is any sign of coolant leakage, check the hoses to make sure they're not punchured or too soft (weak). If the there is no leakage, it may be the waterpump malfunctioning. I know a mechanic who may be helpful, pm me if you want an opinion. Stan

Same thing happened here, I just deleted all the one's listed as blocked. I guess anyone who had others listed as "friends" before got this problem. Everyone, remember to check "My Controls" to make sure it hasn't happened accidentally to you too. Stan

Looks legit to me too, 38 Kg, about 83.6 lbs, I wouldn't want to hold that thing too long in my arms! Sure looks like a back breaker! 3rd pic looks like the guy is having a little fun trying to hold it still! HF

And the sign on the front says "for sale"!

Greg, Another awesome report considering how many others mentioned how tough it was to get onto fish on the weekend. I looking forward to our up coming outing. Send me a PM on where you'd like to meet up. Stan -

I also agree with CCMT, although there are cylical periods that can also be seen with a shift in the Earth's magnetic axis, we should not forget all the mechanical and technological advancements man-kind has created to assist in this negative situation. Just think, as we continue deplete the fossil oil, voids must be created, in-turn catastrophic events due to the shifts in the planetry plates will continue to occur more frequently, the ocean's temperature rising will assist in melting the polar ice thus increasing the volume of water in the ocean possibly (and likely) flooding coastal areas. With changes in the aquatic ecosystems, we can all expect changes to our kid's, grand-kids, and possibly our own fishing future. I think there is a little bit of a "tree-hugger / fish-kisser" in all of us! It only depends on what causes us to do something about our environment's future. Sorry about all the blah, blah. I guess some of the ecology biology program from U still has some lingering effect. HearingFish

Rick, if every issue is going to be that thick it'll be one heck of a print job! So where do I subscribe? BTW, how did the lock issue work out? Stan

Wow, that will mean the ice will be busy that weekend!
