Hi all, I'm in the market for a flasher/sonar unit and came across Aqua Vu's new Vertical Pixel Graph (VPG) unit and was wondering if anyone else who has used a flasher/sonar unit could give me the low down on this unit's capabilities. http://www.naturevisioninc.com/shop_nvi/pr...at=4&page=1 For one, it looks easy enough for a sonar newbie to understand. I've only had a brief opportunity using Vex FL18 (less than 30 mins) on the ice but was amazed at the real time readings (I still couldn't get the fish to bite, lol). I've also looked at the Marcum LX-5 (I think that's the model, but you might know what I mean). It's much more in cost but also touts greater peak to peak power for sensing. http://marcumtech.com/products/product_det...&ProdCat1=1 Someone please help me figure this one out. Other than price AV ($230 US) Vs. M 5 ($480 US) what other major details should I consider? Thanks in advance, Stan

I think it would be time for you to get a GPS! It could help you out when there is little or no visibility.

Yeah, I figured that out by looking up their website. I guess I'll have to purchase an OFC hat if I get called. Of course I mentioned seeing it here!

hey, tried that email, it doesn't work.
-
so which gloves did you end up getting that worked the best? Please do tell.

hey hey, welcome and get ready for a ride!

awesome report Cliff, and congrats to your wife on her PB. sent you a PM.

Seahag, sounds like we need to set up a rockbass tourney up there! Honestly, this is the first time I've heard of rock bass being the invasive species. Maybe have the MNR have muskie introduced into the lake to munch on them.

Where Are You Going Ice Fishing When Season Opens?
wuchikubo replied to lloyd's topic in General Discussion
First ice? Hmmm, maybe the Bog (like this year), maybe Simcoe. I'd like to meet up with other OFNers like Ron or JeffW for brookies and/or splake (I've never caught before hard/soft water). Sending you guys a PM. -
Yeah, let's remember to remind CO of our website the next time we get a chance to chat with them! I don't have a boat (yet) but that sight would get me riled up as well. Let's bust these poachers!

Which Freshwater Species Of Fish Would You Like To Target Next?
wuchikubo replied to wuchikubo's topic in General Discussion
Moosebunk, isn't that a muskie in your avatar? Man, all those kinds available to be caught in your neck of the woods? Now I feel I live in the wrong place. -
I was just wondering if others out there plan to target other freshwater species that they have never caught before? Top five? Maybe someone could help me with some pointers so I can hook up with the following species: (no particular order for me) 1: Ling (thinking simcoe) 2: Brookies (sadly I have not had a real chance to target them) 3: Sturgeon (just for the sight of having one on the line) 4: Greyling (beautiful fish in the pictures) 5: Muskie (how could I have forgotten this monster!)

House Approves State Funeral For Last WWI Vet Nf
wuchikubo replied to bpsbassman's topic in General Discussion
1Leg, I thought all state funerals were televised. It would truly a dumb thing if this wasn't a televised event. Give yourselves a pat on the back for all those to assisted with the petition! Well Done! -
So what's it gonna take to get to #1?

AWESOME! WTG on the 'eyes! I'll just have to keep dreaming about them until I get another chance to get out!

Get Together Suggestions For Next Time!
wuchikubo replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Hi Wayne, I'll admit it, it was me and another friend that knocked on your door and spoke with Terry. It was my dumb @ss that forgot to bring your number (I had it written down in my office, and didn't think I needed it). I recalled you mentioning being in #12 so I had to at least stop by and say hello. I figured since you were still asleep, it was best not wake you have you get all grumpy and such. Besides, my friend and I were itching to get onto some fish after getting skunked through the night, since the main office was still closed and we didn't know when they'd open, didn't know if they still had any more boats to rent, and there didn't seem to have anyone else to ask, so we decided to head out to the ferry docks to try our luck on shore. Besides, it was my friend couldn't get his boat out for this outing after he mentioned he would . No worries Wayne, and no bad feelings on our ends. I still hope to meet you one of these days. Dang! Carp, was that you in the red oddessy? We were the two die hards on the dock and boat ramp. If we knew you had a couple spots on your boat, we would have joined you and split the cost of gas, etc. Anyways, next time! It was still great to have met DouG, Terry, and Icefisherman (brief as it was). Stan -
Gee it must be getting close to Christmas with all of you putting up the tree ornaments! LOL Nice Pics!

Been there, done that, good thing the CO or Game Warden wasn't around else they would have had him cut the line off.

Wow, what a hawg. Look at the size of it's girth! It was definitely chowing down on something before.
