Vance, very sorry to hear that your dad passed away. My condolences to you and your family. -
Ditto to what Pigeontroller said!

I'm glad to hear he's feeling better, I hope he'll have a speedy recovery. I'm still hoping to meet you two one of these days! Stan

Thanks Spiel

Thanks Baldy, I will be book marking these sites. Stan

Thanks MJL, I know of George and Angling Specialties on Kennedy. I didn't know that he'd provide free instruction, maybe it was just for you!! Yeah, I am hoping Spiel may provide some more insight and perhaps multiple sources for components. Thanks again, Stan

Hi Lew, I've got no concerns over the engine and fuel efficiency for the small car but the fact that I lost two friends as passengers in Hondas will always be on my mind when considering Hondas. I've been to Japan, (my wife is Japanese), the average speed limit in most cases is 40-50 Km/hr thus the reasoning I think they don't worry as much about the crash ratings in Jp. It's not the same here where everyone is pushing 120 km on the highways. Toyotas have been more conservative with their engine / fuel technology but have been more likely to put money towords safety as opposed to Honda. I guess when I was going up, everyone was raving about how fast the civic would go but none ever spoke about how they might have saved their lives (I remembered more injured and dead from their accidents). IMPO Toyota and the newer GM would be my considerations. Stan

Hi Everyone, I was hoping to gather some information in regards to building custom rods (only as a hobby). Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? Which books should I start reading? Where should I look for building materials? I have heard Spiel and some other members may have some expert insight. I would appreciate any help. If you're uncomfortable with posting info on this subject please PM me. Thanks, Stan (HearingFish)

Thanks Lew for the timely reminder. We've got 4 smoke detectors and 3 CO detectors in our home, one of the smoke detectors is linked to the home security as well. That reminds me I have to start teaching my little ones they crawling escape routes soon (now they can remember). Stan

Thanks JD for the suggestion. -
Roy, I'm just glad your alright. And remember, if you cry "wolf" too many times, people may start to ignore you when it's real.

Thanks Gerritt, I know of the site, I just wanted to know if anyone has seen or been at an event with a decent lunchtime show (yes, keep it clean! LOL), word of mouth tends to show better than the corporate marketing. Thanks again, Stan -
SoloP, awesome post, makes me think about what I could have done if I didn't have a young family. I'll have to wait a bit longer and maybe, just maybe my wife will consider roughing it (I don't think so though, raised as a city girl) for once. Thanks for letting me dream. Stan

Thanks everyone so far. Hmm, I can just see it, "we need a female volunteer and a male volunteer from the audience".... Male volunteer ends up on his back on the floor after being beaten the .... out of him. That might go over well with the ladies and not so much with the men! LOL. Mind you the lion dance thing might work as well or even a kata demostration. But would the mainly caucasian crowd think, "see this is what we get when an asian guy sets up the event". Stan -
For all those involved initiating this and those helping out, give yourselves a good pat on the back! It was definitely hard not to have a teary eye after reading this. I'm sure if anything else needs to be helped out, I would definitely suggest it be put up on the board as many members (including myself, regardless how limited it may be) would be willing to help. OFC family is truly #1 :clapping:

I picked the limit as well, but the most I've ever caught on any outing was two. So the walleye are safe from me too! I would keep the ones between 2 lbs and 5lbs, but I can't imagine myself eating a biggun, they don't taste as good if you ask me, great for the picture that's about it. Stan

Okay people, lets keep it clean! The attendance will be about 300 people and most (~60-70%)are women! Cliff, "real suggestions" wasn't meant for you but the brass pole thingy. You may be right about the genre of music though, considering most members were requesting songs from the late 70's and early 80's the last time around. Although there are lots of younger people entering the profession. -
WTG Cheese. Sounds like everyone had a blast, including the poor sick kid with the first fish up!!

Thanks everyone for everything so far. Jen - great options (except the last one from the UK, I don't think they'd come over here just for an hour's performance). I have the feeling the Ontario part of Manchester came up under a search. Thank you for helping me so far. Corey - just like all other health professions, ours is getting older as well, not sure how the mime idea would work out. Charlied- thanks for the thought, it gave me an idea. I might inquire at my old high school's performing arts program. Thanks, Stan -

Hey Wayne, I just added it to the initial message but it's the not-for-profit association of hearing instrument practitioners of Ontario (AHIP). BTW who's Mike? Stan -

DouG, I dunno, I don't go by there on my way to work. Stan -
Hi Everyone, I'm looking for ideas, names, prices for entertainment for a lunchtime filler. Conference for the Association of Hearing Instrument Practitioners of Ontario. My first choice was Japanese drummers but that has just fallen thru and now I need to find something for Friday April 27th! (I've been looking in the range of $1K to $2K for 1/2 hr to 1hr performance, in Richmond Hill). Now, I've seen many things on this board and know many people have many possible contacts here so that's why I'm looking for any help from anyone here. Please, any suggestions! Thanks, Stan

Hi John, I believe Europe did well. "The 27-member European Union received a 53 per cent positive rating and a 19 per cent negative rating." as quoted from the link. Canada just did a little better in the positive and in the negative. HearingFish
