  1. When I use Fluoro. - floatfishing - leader. - throwing a jerkbait - straight fluoro. - dragging, deadsticking, dropshot, or other general light line applications - straight fluoro. When I flip/pitch, throw topwaters, troll, burn spinnerbaits or anything else, it is either straight braid or Mono. I love fluoro because it gives me confidence. Confidence that the smallie can rub me into the zebra mussels and I should be okay. I know when throwing a jerkbait I can get alittle deeper and not over set the hook like I could with braid or under set with mono. It is all personal confidence from trail and error. I do have friends who are starting to use fluro for pitching and flipping. I get why, I'll give it a go the fall. Above is how fluoro works for me. Good Luck.
  2. If it is an isolated pad bed I will always start on the edges and work the bait horizontally like an unwieghtd plastic i.e yamamoto 8' grub. If nothin I will pitch the middle of the bed working my way to the middle with a weighted texas rigged plastic. I will bring the bait up to the under side of the pads and shake it. IF there is a fish in there, they can handle that for only so long before snapping. If it is a large expanse of pads, I will throw a topwater frog, usually a hollow body like the Live Target. On the edges or in sparse pads a flappin shad or kicker frog work great. Must cover water and call the fish to you when fishing that amount of pads. To pick that apart is a waste of time in my opinion. One general rule for me fishin pads is using braid. It will help you get fish up and out of the vegetation by slicing it.
  3. Atta boy!!! Most fisher folks, are good folks. Believe it or not, Pickering was like Prince Edward County and not to long ago either. But as with life, things change.
  4. Here is the lil sucker I mentioned above that I can't wait to try up shallow at night for walleye 1 3/4" Live Target
  5. Very good advice.
  6. I haven't smelt anything yet. I mean, rotting boots of course.
  7. Get that amazing net wet Will! I heard rumblings of dredging bottom off the mouths wrking well recently.
  8. If the cookie monster gives it a thumbs up, its gotta be good.
  9. Dark coloured baits are the norm. Something the fish can shilouette against. i.e. when the frog deal is on, try a black pop r, spook jr , or frog bait right up shallow to the shorleine. It's a blast. I am super pumped to try the new mini live target frogs for the walters soon.
  10. Mikie, just kidding around, I find'em funny, and no, there is no other word you nailed it. tb4me, fish the same areas you would in daylight but use faster baits. Reason being the walleye will be out cruising more as their eyes will not be as sensitive inthe low light. Also, very soon is the frog migration, top water walters is a blast at night.
  11. BOOYAH! Nice.
  12. Now there's an oxymoron. Night is my Fav time for jerking up giant eyes. They are in the same water you get them at dusk, I give them a couples hours to "adjust" and then they will eat. Usually head out a couple hours after pitch dark. Works for me anyways. I like to target the deep weed edges.
  13. Awesome, and great shots!
  14. If I had a small fire and roasted a hot dog or two on the pier, would I be charged with fishing from the pier?
  15. Good for you Skinny. Grab the bull by the horns, because no one know else is going to do it for you.
  16. HaS THeerwe benen anny AfTerShoCks?
  17. 7 dollars a piece I heard. 4th hand.
  18. Jesee, I did the same thing in '05. I have ZERO regrets. The only thing I would do different is to actually get married here, at City hall and do a mock ceremony there. We went the the RIU in the Mayan and loved it.
  19. There's a Lew post for ya, been a while. Guatanteed good fish, details of the techniques, a scenery shot and no smile. Glad to see your got into them and shared with us Lew. But, your full of bird droppings, evening bite? your in bed by 3:30pm to be up at Lew oclock. Nice try.
  20. Greg, go fish'n buddy. You've got the basics down. Don't over think it, you'll dail it in and figure out the angles and pressure to use through experience. Now go dredge bottom and hook up a derby winner. Good Luck
  21. you gottem Mike.
  22. I'd say 35+
  23. There are not many strikes that can compare to a big chinook smoking a dipsy in open water in mid August.
  24. I won an ugly pewter cowboy belt buckle in the emerald ilse tournie one year, it is now our annual prize for the boys weekend. The winner gets the belt for the year and the right to wear throught-out the year at other get togethers to rub it in. Also, the champ does not have to do dishes while they hold the belt, ever.
  25. Your friend is right. It is a crap shoot with big fish. Try and turn the boat if you can, gear down the best you can. There is really not much else to do. Also, if the bigguns are going to run, they are going to run, there is no slowing them until they choose to.. I am talking the 35+ fish. Just know you are not alone. There are many derby winning fish hooked up this time of year that are still swimming.
