  1. Here is a something to try. Use a heavier drop shot weight and shake/twitch whatever bait it is like crazy. I mean, as fast as you can. Not up and down, just vibrate the bait as much and as fast as you can. Just give it a shot. Good Luck.
  2. HEY I asked for permisson on Oct 23, 2007... hahahahaha.. how quick we forget huh! LOL... Thanks for the wishes Raf. PM me your email. 3. Inbetween Newtonville and Cobourg. In Oct. With a lure you would eat cereal with. Early early morning. Remember wind from the west fish bite best, or so it appiers. Hope this helps.
  4. Sorry to hear Dave. I really liked your store and you know your stuff. Good luck for the future sir!
  5. Pretty cool! I look forward to fishing the St Lawerence this fall.
  6. A couple friends have them. Awesome dogs, both of them. But, like other working dogs they have to run and love to work. If you can commit to run the dog often, they will pay you back by being obedient. If not, they will get bored and will act out. I can speak only for my friends dogs, but Like mine, once you introduce retrieving to them, it's all they live for..that and a pat on the belly from you. Good Luck with your choice.
  7. Wow, you've really made that place comfy looking. Interesting lure, does it double as a bottle opener?
  8. Fire me an email to [email protected] I am positive we can help you out. As for the ebay I used to buy alot from a guy named gene6000 just watch the duties even when shipped USPS.
  9. realease the bail, the lure should fall slowly and the spool should stop spinning once the lure hits the ground. If not, adjust teh magnets. This is a good starting point.
  10. I had a Remmy too. Miss him. My next one..... long time from now... will be named Drake.
  11. Would I flip the poor kid a loonie... sure... it's not his fault his coach and parents are not teaching him to earn the money. But I totally see where you are coming from CPH. I played competitive sports, my parents couldn't afford it so I started working at Burger King at the ripe age of 13. Saved my sheckles and I could buy a new stick or used pair of skates when I needed it. I remember when my skates, gloves, helmet and pants were supplied for me, I felt like I won the lottery. Before Junior our coaches organized many bottle drives, car washes, auctions, BBQs to help raise funds for extra practice ice and tournaments. We busted our humps off the ice as much as on the ice to become better players. My Nephew is a natural talent, playing AAA hockey at 9, and it costs my brother a fortune. I went to one practice and was blown away with the core skills these kids are taught nowadays. They are learning stuff I didn't in AAA until I was 12. I am coaching my 5 yr old in hockey next year, looking forward to it.
  12. It sucks, really sucks. That is, being stuck in down town Toronto on the Friday before a long weekend. I was having a hard time dealing with it. As I stared out the window wondering what pound test line I would need if I was to use the CN tower to crane the sky dome in to my boat. I get a message on OFC. Expecting the typical "Hey Phil, your as ugly as your shirts" or "thanks for the tip on using that lure, but who the heck are you, you even fish?" I was surprised to get a message from Ron. What the..... Now I'm scared, does he think I work for the harbour police? MNR? Rice Lake cottage association? Nope, just a simple, "Hey wanna go fish'n Monday" , instantly I had thoughts of buying a lottery ticket, calling my Mom to tell her I love her and breaking the news to my wife I had to work Monday. Then I calmed down. "Sure" I responded. I have been dying to get out. It's been a while. But especially with Ron, he knows Rice Lake and I love Rice lake. Now my mind is calm. I can leave Downtown and enjoy the natural/unnatural scenery it has to offer knowing I will be bouncing around soon enough on one of my favourite lakes. I arrive in the morning and there is Ron, instinctively I scan the bushes for snipers. All clear. Off we go, it is simply amazing the calm I feel as I head out across the water in the early morning even while chewing a bug of some sort. Ron Rocks, his boat rocks, his knowledge rocks, his skill rocks, even his cookies rock, ironically all our fish came off weeds. All in all we caught a good amount of fish, no giants as the wind came up and pushed us off the main lake. I could tell the wind as Ron left his tag on his hat, it was 30 k out of the North West. One hump we really got into them, good fish on a "spot on a spot" You had to put your cast exactly in the kill zone. One poor little casualty of our onslaught had an interesting deformity...a Broke Back. I tried for a picture of it, but it didn't turn out. So all I have is the side shot. I'll post Ron aka. Chiro, with it below. Now we are all smiles, hooksets set are followed by a pat on the back. A true team as one would grab the net the other would have the prey ready, one fluid motion of smallmouth excellence.... Thanks Ron, I will forever remember my experience at Broke Back Hump.
  13. I've seen that look before from a lady friend, no matter how hard she tried, it didn't work for her either.
  14. Perfect. There is your new 2oz jig slop punching rod.
  15. I have only heard of one cure for bass thumb.... winter.
  16. Replace the fish with a severed head and you got a killer "Spartacus" going on dude.
  17. Between knuckles on the pinky is about an inch, so I'd say 3.1 lbs
  18. I have some writing to do, we shoud chat.
  19. To the original question, NO. Go right with the 12". In addition to a sawsall, get a spud bar to help jar rocks and hard pack so the auger can lift them out. Get ready for a work out.
  20. DITTO! Just a feel you get after a while. Personally, I think dipping the rod into the drink has no benefit, but if it works for you, give'r.
