  1. Do let us know how you do if you go and try.... good luck. With this temperature, they might not be as active but you'll never know if you don't try.
  2. I find that all four of you look good. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Sad... Be careful out there guys.
  4. I fished around Wolfville, Nova Scotia (located at the tip of the Bay of Fundy) for about two years.... I gotta say you are so right about that place. Nice People and Good Fishing! One thing though, you reminded me how we caught those smelt... but we didn't have the colourful part of the lure if you know what mean That's the way people catch smelt around that area. And do they taste good. You pick the right time to be there...the run is only for about 1 to 2 weeks.
  5. Okauma makes good reels, especially considering the price. It will serve you good. BTW, I fished that same spot twice already this year catching nothing...and you went there at twice that I know of (happen to be the same day both times except I went in the morning and you at night)....... I'll tell my wife that I'll start night fishing now..... Still haven't caught any carp this year after logging 10 hours of bank time..... I might have to put my Okuma for sale soon
  6. Thanks for sharing, Cliff. It is that time of the year waiting for your postings at night ;-)
  7. Your Dad and your family are in my prayers. Like BPSBASSMAN said, keep faith and believe !
  8. A nice fuel consumption converter from anything to anything else 2000 Honda Civic (4 cyl, 1.6L), 99% city, about 11.5L/100KM winter and 9L/100KM summer. 90% of less than 10km trips. 1993 Honda Del Sol (4 cyl, 1.5L), 99% city, about 9L/100KM winter, 7L/100KM summer, 90% of less than 10km trips. (<6L/100KM on pure highway)
  9. I fish there once or twice a year early in the season. After bass opener the weed is just impossible to deal with. You can fish from shore there but all you will be getting would be bullhead and sunfish. Pretty limited. I suggest you to rent a canoe, not Far from the rental hut you can get into good action on pike and crappie. Do get a depth map from the entrance, the deep channel (only about 13' to 15') on the main lake would be your best bet.
  10. HF, that pond very close to where you are has tons of suckers in it. I tried it a few days ago and caught about 20 in 1.5 hrs. Light line with a small piece of worm is the ticket.
  11. A great read. Thanks for sharing. Trips like this are priceless.
  12. Thanks for the update. Would love to bring kids to watch the walleye run. Never did that but always wanted to.
  13. We rented Kashaka lodge for a few years, it's located at the small bay close to the channel between the main lake and Head Lake. Fishing is pretty good in that small bay, I caught LMB, SMB, pickerals, my wife even caught her first muskie there on a jig. I fished from the swimming platform (15 meter from shore) at night with power grubs on a jig and caught quite a few pickerals. Although most on the small side (1 to 2 lb). Early morning and evening are the best time fishing there. And close to the channel on the main lake there is a sunken island, water drops from a few feet to like 100'+ (can't remember the exact number), fish minnows there can get you some pickerals too. But be VERY CAREFUL boating around the sunken island, we almost hit some hidden rocks. The killer bait for LMB there and at Head lake is live frogs, one old guy fishes there with live frog exclusively and every time he came back he amazed us with his catches. A few 4+ pounder almost every time. (not a good thing he kept them but nothing we could say if it's legal). It's a nice place, the high fishing pressure does reduce the catch size. For lakers, you'll need riggers and go the the far end where the water is much deeper. We never tried that as fishing close to the lodge was good enough for a relaxing vacation.
  14. Reverse thinking (or whatever it's called). Global warming may make Canada warmer, then we'll grow whatever makes beer here in Canada, then we'll have cheaper beers here in Canada. Get ready to drink more (but don't drink and drive).
  15. Bring it back, I think you are gonna do that anyway otherwise you won't post it here. Next time, keep the receipt but don't double check.
  16. It is illegal to "abandon fish or permit the flesh to spoil". Wether you like that fish or not. Refer to page 9 in the regs.
  17. At least you went out and had fun....
  18. I try not to think about carp at this moment, otherwise two more months will seem like a century. Nice report and thanks for sharing.
  19. So that's the car I'll see comes May when we meet at that spot? Nice car, you'll sure enjoy it.
  20. Thank you man. I live to hope my sons will one day say the same thing. And the memory I leave them with is as beautiful as your old boy does.
  21. January carp...hmm... I had a few last year, but that was before the lake iced up. And you had some today after the ice is gone. Whoever is in charge of weather is not doing his job... Thanks for sharing....
  22. Wow.... I mean, WOW.... You told me about the walleye fishing this summer, and I didn't know it is THIS GOOD !! Great job you guys have done.
  23. Try beers.... to make you feel better, not for them.
  24. Only done it once from Digby like hmm.. 10 years ago. I really miss the years living there. Sorry couldn't be much help since I only did it once long time ago and now only remember how bumpy it was even in summer.
