  1. Getting it from UK is doable but bivvys are quite bulky so you'd be expecting to pay a lot for shipping. The VAT you may save (not all UKstores will deduct the VAT) will be compensated when your stuff comes across the custom. I buy a lot of stuff directly from UK but mostly just for the small items such as pole floats, hooks, and other terminal tackles that can’t be found here. If you check the prices of NWC, Carp Kit, and from Jeff, you'll find that the prices are almost the same as in UK with currency exchange, in some cases prices are actually cheaper here. Send a PM to Stephen in NWC and maybe he can let you know when he'll restock the items you're looking for or even special order for you, it has worked for me in the past.
  2. Warm water discharge is normally good for winter carping, the problem is access. There aren't that many in Ontario and most of the power plants have restricted access. If you know a spot in Port Hope that's accessible and looks even remotely carpy, I'd definitely be interested to try it with you.
  3. I second that since you're so close to Long Sault. New Work Carp and Carp Kit International are also reputable online stores in Ontario if Jeff doesn't have what you want.
  4. Take care my friend. I just realized we went to two tournaments together this year but haven't fished together at all. We'll do a lot of those in the years to come. Get ready.
  5. Hi LittleCarp, sorry, I mean LargeBass. Carp fishing doesn't end in winter if you know where to fish and can deal with the cold. It may need different equipment but the fun is the same. Glad to hear you enjoy carp fishing.
  6. Mike, my prayers are with you, hope everything is fine and the doctors are wrong as usual.
  7. I have a Olympus tough 6000 and I'm very happy with it. Haven't tried it underwater but I like the fact that I don't need to worry about getting it dirty or wet. It's shock proof to 1.5m which is a bonus when my kids want to give it a go, my little son actually dropped it and it was okay. Photo quality is fine too.
  8. Fantastic report, very different scenery than what we have here, nice photos too. Thanks for sharing.
  9. I bought one of these poles this year and absolutely love it. Doesn't work everywhere (need room behind or at least beside you) but in some venues it outfishes any other techniques. It gives you the ability to fish with lighter line, smaller hook, and drop your baited hook exactly where you want it and hopefully where you feed. Don't try it in a boat though ;-)
  10. Amazing journey, thanks for sharing ! Am I the only person seeing something in this picture? (hint: almost the entire left half of the pic)
  11. I am in the same boat, my older cat takes 2 pills a day now. And every time it's a brand new adventure. Grid it to powder? I tried, the powder all ends up on her fur. Put in tuna? Okay, I tried tuna, salmon, turkey, beef, ... whatever you add the powder in, it won't be touched by the cat. The only thing that worked to certain degree for us is to dissolve the pill in small amount of water, use a syringe to inject into cat's mouth. You still need to figure out how to get the cat to open up, but at least you normally get it done this way with less than 3 attempts ;-( I found this on internet while researching cat constipation problem, and believe me, it's funny Gave my cat an ENEMA last night
  12. Hi Victor, glad to hear you are having a great time. Those pictures bring back some memory ;-) Seriously though, carp action hasn't been hot, maybe they're waiting for you.
  13. I'm pretty sure Lorne fished "paylake style" so he wasn't using a buzzer.
  14. Great thread, thanks for posting the pic of me fighting my first carp on pole. Vic, I don't have much to teach you, that was my first carp on pole, but I can tell you IT IS FUN. One more thing to add : the proper match keepnets are very fish friendly, it's normally 3m in length made of fish-friendly material. I sometimes use it just so the fish I have just caught doesn't go back to warn its bigger brothers and sisters
  15. I'm okay if I have to let go of the gas paddle, but not having to break. What really gets me is people so eager to cut in front of me then doing 50 on 70 limit.
  16. What's wrong with that? I thought meat from a supermarket grows on the same tree where money grows.
  17. I believe the official Ontario record for carp is still at 30 something lb, and much bigger fish are caught every year. The problem is, most people catching those fish would not kill the fish for a record. I wouldn't anyway.
  18. 58 lb carp? do you mind me asking when this was? and if the fish was actually weighed? Catching one of those would make me a very very happy man.
  19. I'll suggest this one, especially since you mentioned you are a shore fisherman. "How to fish" by Chris Yates Upon finishing reading it for the first time, you'll find the book doesn't tell you any fishing technique, but if you read it the second time, you should learn a great deal. A good read even for people who don't fish.
  20. Good stuff ! You attest to the saying "Live to fish".
  21. Victor, you could get into serious trouble if you dump that thing on shore, you know that? .... doesn't matter, you are in serious trouble already without inviting me last night LOL You'll land a proper one next time I'm sure.
  22. RIP..... individual fish gets to that kind of status means something to me. Hope we all respect the fish and nature we're given to enjoy responsibly.
  23. Sydney catches so many fish and did a great thing by donating hair for a good cause. What else can one ask from his/her daughter? Priceless ....
  24. Try the Canadian online shop New World Carp. Stephen is nice to deal with. Misfish, yeah, long time no see. Randy
